Faceclaims by DH Skies
Hi all,At Sonora, we allow characters to have a 'faceclaim.' This is an actor/celebrity who you choose to represent your character, so that others can know more easily what they look like.
If you sign up for an author account (available free through the home page) you are able to create profiles for you characters and upload a picture. Even if you don't do this, people can consult this list to know what your character looks like.
Please bear in mind that you characters are aged 11-18. You are permitted to change faceclaim once only, and it is preferable that you find someone who has been in the public eye during a suitable range of their life to have age appropriate pictures.
On the whole, we prefer minimal reuse of faceclaims. However, in order to ease the pressure on new authors, we will be releasing some claims that were used a very long time ago. Please consult the lists below to see whether a claim is currently in use, or has been used in the past.
There are lots of lists on IMDB etc of teen actors if you need to browse for ideas, and those of us who have been doing this a while can probably offer help and advice in chatzy if you don't know how to find someone suitable.

Given both characters' connections to Quebec and L'Institut, we should probably work out at some stage whether they know each other/how well.I tend to think kids don't go to so many balls but would go to big social events like concert, theatre etc, however they would both be one of many in a crowd.
I'd assume it's possible that Beatriz recognises Dorian as he stands out physically to a degree, and his mother very much so (I've always assumed Pureblood societies are fairly white, given that they're aligned with older, more conservative world views). So, you're free to say she does, and/or or we can assume that - come Christmas/summer - they're more likely to notice each other at big events.

Yes, assuming they know of/recognize each other sounds good to me. Although Beatriz divides her time between Quebec and Texas, she has a lot of influential family there and would attend quite a lot of events (that are fit for a child).

Ok, sounds good.If her brother or any other family are into school Quidditch, they would undoubtedly know his brother.
Currently the characters I have at L'Institut are:
Matthieu Montoir (sixth year, Beater - ideally heading for house and/or school captaincy as he's Quidditch obsessed), and Émilie Montoir (third) and Luc No-Surname-As-of-Yet (fifth year and Beater) all in Requins.
Charlotte (third) and her as yet unnamed older brother (fifth), who play Seeker and Beater in A Different House (or whose preferred positions would be - obviously they might still be reserves, especially Charlotte).
Am not expecting you to need to use much of that or tie in with it. They aren't very active characters and are more people to give me personal plot points but just in case you need to know, especially if we end up trying to fill out Quidditch teams. Let me know if you want any more or to do things. You're always welcome to email or chatzy me.
I hope it's ok that I've been populating wizarding Canada. I think I did check with Jehan's author when I very first made the Montoirs, though they keep making new friends and thus growing the numbers.

Yes, her brother Felix is also starting his 1st year and hoping to get onto the team as Chaser - which should likely be successful as he is a good player, so should be in a house team at least.And populating Canada is great - the more the merrier!

...to tell you Friend Computer appears to have died/entered some kind of persistent vegetative state where yesterday I could login but not do anything but today won’t even let me log in.I still have Friend Phone, but find wizarding this way much more difficult. Efforts will be undertaken to try to coax Friend Computer back to life/to wring a couple months use out of Old Friend Computer Who Overheats A Lot, but it is possible I may be only a sporadic and spelling-challenged presence until I can scrape together rather more moneys than I can currently part with without letting my insurance lapse.

As noted in the opening feast speech, this year the concert will be co-ordinated by prefects and they are expected to have a planning meeting with interested members of their house and submit plans to their head of house by the Midterm break.As large, multiperson threads and meetings often take a long time, I would like to see these posted by February 1st. This gives you two weeks from now to get them written, and gives plenty of weeks until term ends. The senior most prefect in each house (Zevalyn, Georgia, Arianna, Lily) should take responsibility for posting the meeting, as it is logical they would take the lead. If you will be unable to do this, please let us know, and give one of your junior prefects permission to state that your character passed on the responsibility.
Please can all four senior prefects reply to this post to acknowledge it, or to liaise with their junior prefects.

Just so people know who is supposed to be in their optional classes, we have set up a google spreadsheet tracking who is taking what. Please make your mark for your Advanced and Intermediate students in the appropriate class columns. (Intermediates are on the second tab/sheet/thing.)Anyone taking academic support (aimed at students who are struggling due to language barriers, poor literacy, lack of organizational skills, etc) can add their name to the third tab/sheet/thing.

Server Migration by Nathan Xavier
I was sent an email from my hosting company that our website is being migrated to a new server due to hardware problems on the current one. I was not told when this is happening or how long it will take or if they anticipate the site being down temporarily. So with luck things will continue mostly uninterrupted but if you do notice hiccups over the next couple of days it may be due to either this migration or the hardware problems they mentioned, and it should soon be resolved.

Database Problem by Nathan Xavier
We are currently experiencing a problem connecting to our database. This is causing server errors on many pages. I've quick-patched better error handling on the main page and the disc app headers so they don't blow up, and will try to rectify that on the other pages/figure out what's up with the database as quickly as I can tomorrow, but it's nearly 1am now, so it's going to have to wait.Sorry for the inconvenience and I hope to be back to normal operations soon!

Unfortunately, do to the nature of the problem that caused the issue this week, we have lost all data entered into the database since the last back-up on March 13. So, if you made profile changes, submitted an app, or created an account since that date, you will probably need to do it again.I apologize for the inconvenience.
