Yearbook Archive by Reinhardts & Co.

So because sometimes while I'm writing I like to reference last year's yearbook or want to check something, I sometimes save copies of bits I think I'll want to reference later as paint files to my computer since it's necessary for Farrah to change yearbook access permissions so she can work on it each year.

I realized that other people might also want access to these "archived" pages and rather than fill my computer up with a bunch of non-interactive paint documents, I decided to utilize the wayback machine.

To use this online archive, it's simple. Go to https://archive.org/web/ and type in the address of the site you want to see. If someone "saved" it previously, the archive should have a copy. You then scroll to the day and year it was saved on the calendar and click on the date. This should bring you to the page. Links on each saved page work only if the linked page was also saved. For this reason, I have saved each yearbook page from SA 21 - SA 26 individually as I didn't know how far back nor which pages others might want to use.

Music club: any takers? by Louis Valois

I’m thinking of starting a music club of some sort (type of ensemble and type of music will depend on instruments available), and would like to know what amount of interest there would be in this. Jake plays piano, Makenzie plays violin and dabbles in cello (though she's a bit out of practice), Nevaeh plays trumpet, and Salali doesn't play anything but likes making noise so she would want to try drums.

Dustin also plays piano and has probably dabbled in some others and could probably be convinced to join if Louis starts this club.

Sawyer loves music and can play guitar. He also sings in choir. He wants to broaden his musical horizon.

Will Louis bat his eyelashes for Arne? by Reinhardts & Co.

With enough persuading from his Best Bro, Arne might join. At their dad's insistance, Arne plays violin and Tobi plays cello. However they both prefer the drums--not drumset drums, pow wow drums. They also sing, but they sing for their drums in the Chinook and Haudenosaunee drum circles so I don't think that's the same kind of singing you're looking for...

Matti's coming next year and she plays viola if you're still trying to put together an orchestra of sorts but it appears that things are leaning in the direction of choir right now...

My main issue is that while Arne might start off going and he'd want to support his friend but...he wouldn't really be properly motivated to go and most usually would feel too lazy to stop whatever he was doing and actually show up. That's why I don't have him going for any other clubs really. I imagine he can barely get to Quidditch on time and only does so because Alistair is captain and has a point to prove.

New Boards! by Nathan Xavier

So observant people may have noticed we have two new boards this year!

Herbology is available through the classes page and is fairly self explanatory. These are the greenhouses than Nathan was building most of last year.

'Sonoran Lounges' has been added to our list of links on eack disc app page, and can be used by staff or student characters who have earned a prefect or Head Student badge. The staff and prefect lounges have existed previously but now they have their own board for threads taking place there. Only staff should be able to access the staff lounge and only prefects/Head Boy/Head Girl should have the password to get into the prefect lounge.

Strap yourselves in and get ready for the ride because starting November 1, 2016 I will be running NANO CHALLENGES! *cue the applause*

Unfortunately, because this is set in November not April or July you can't set your own word count. Officially that is! Feel free to set yourself a goal and keep track of it and throughout the month I will set writing prompts and challenges for authors to complete whether or not they're counting their words.

For those of you who plan to participate in the word count- self or through the official site (nanowrimo.org @ 50k words/month) I can set up an excel document as a sort of pseudo cabin so we can encourage each other.

Important Announcement by Yearbook Staff

Hey Everyone,

I made mention of this in the chatzy the other night, but it’s been pushed out so I’m not sure how many actually saw I and I wanted to make it more official for the yearbook’s sake. I want to remind everyone about the active rule that is in effect for the yearbook. In order to be considered eligible to be awarded any category in the awards section of the yearbook, your character must be considered active. In order to be considered active, your character must be in at least four different threads as active participants (at least two of these threads must take place after midterm). This rule is being applied to ALL years beginning this year. Even if you are active in the chatzy, you must be active in writing your characters in order to participate in this section of the yearbook.

Please note that in order to claim a face-claim, your character must be in at least five different threads.

So, how does one get four different posts for their characters? Here are some ways!

Classes – our staff here at Sonora create amazing lessons for all of us to participate in. Not only that, but classes create house points for your participation in the lesson and house points lead to the House Cup! (this is being re-implemented this year, so that’s something to strive for!). This is a great way to get your character posted, meet other characters, develop your character, and win points for your character’s house!

Quidditch – If your character is involved in this sport, there are signups and tryouts currently up that you can be active in. There will also be the future games to post in. If you aren’t into Quidditch but still want to check off one of your required threads, you can easily be a spectator and simply be there to watch the games!

Clubs/Other activities – These awesome club and activities offer up a great way to introduce your characters to new people of all different class years as well as earn an active thread for the yearbook active list. You can develop your character with things that they are either really interested in or end up hating! Plus, we want to make sure we support the authors who take time to create these marvelous clubs for us!

The NANO Challenges – These are fun challenges that are created by author of Madeleine Dautin for the month of November. These are creative ideas that she provides to help challenge authors into writing their characters. Such challenges are ‘Write a future character on WTS’ or ‘Have your character talk with someone they never have before’. They are fun and many authors get involved so be on the look out for those soon!

I look forward to seeing all the threads posted and I am keeping a record of all threads that characters are participating in. I will make this list available at midterm so that everyone knows where their characters are in terms of active.

The Active List Update 12/2/16 by Yearbook Staff

I want to let everyone know how wonderful it is to see everyone getting involved and everyone is doing a marvelous job with posting! Seriously, you all should be really proud of how much you have been able to accomplish so far!

Here is the list of students that I have as considered active from the previous year as well as the new first years. These include all signups that your character may have participated in as well as I have decided to include all signups that require a full post. Please note that F&F threads are not included. Those in ITALICS have reached the required two posts prior to midterm. Those in BOLD have reached the required four posts for the term. Those in BOLD and ITALICS have doubled their amount of posting threads that is required to be considered active in the yearbook (many have posted in more than 8 threads, but I only marked it as 8+ ).

Please note that this is NOT a punishment to anyone who is not able to actively post and this is not a SITE rule, it is only a YEARBOOK rule. This was the only fair way that I have been able to come up with for all those who wish to participate in the survey/awards section of the yearbook. In the past, I have had people comment on the fact that they are having to find spots for characters that aren’t posted and don’t know anything about, which then makes their surveys less authentic and difficult to complete.

I want to make the yearbook fun and enjoyable for everyone and in order to do so, the authors (and characters) have to know who they are voting for in order to make the awards section as fair and true to each character’s personality.

Please reach out to me if you have any concerns and I will do my best to accommodate while still being fair to everyone else. Also, keep in mind that you are only required to post four different threads (five for first years) over the course of the full year which is roughly close to seven months.

As long as there are at least 4 threads for your character by the time surveys are being sent out, the character will be considered active. There are still at least 2 months to go before surveys will be out, so there is plenty of time and opportunity.

Before you all rush to look at it, please also remember that not all authors submitted a list and some did not finish theirs, so there may be updates in the future. Just because one doesn’t appear by your character's’ name right now, that doesn’t mean they are unloved. And if at the end of all that they still didn’t get one, Jake Manger wrote a note asking Spirit Club to send those characters one from him with a happy holidays message.

As I just announced in chatzy, all my characters will be MIA for the most part until after Christmas Eve as I am now working 7 days a week. December 24 is when I should start getting weekends back.
