We've got work to do [Evelyn] by Valentine Duell

Valentine scanned the hall for Evelyn, and succeed at her perception check. She smiled to herself, it looks like the dice were with her today, Evelyn wasn't with Ness. Excellent. She casually looped around the room to stay out of her target's line of sight, and then stealthily approached her from behind. Then, without warning, wrapped her arms around Evelyn's shoulders in a sneaky-surprise stealth hug! She also whispered into the other girl's ear, "We have scheming to plan, do you have a few minutes?"

Taking the seat next to Evelyn after receiving an affirmative response, Val looked around the immediate area suspiciously before looked back at her friend. She needed Evelyn's help with this, and she really hoped Evelyn would be on-board with the idea and wouldn't be jealous or anything. "I want to throw a surprise party for Ness." She started a bit hesitantly, "Something of a send off and for being a great gaming club president." Evelyn would be leaving the club as well after this year and she hoped that Pecari wouldn't see this as some sort of slight that they were both leaving but Ness was getting a party and she wasn't.

Evelyn and Ness were undoubtedly best friends and thus she would be the best person to know what kind of party they should throw. They should have plenty of time to plan things, but it'd be planned for the end of the year around all the exams and such so the earlier start, the better. "What do you think? Do you have any fantastic ideas?"

OOC: I'm assuming Evelyn would agree to the discussion otherwise this thread would be awful short. If she has other plans, let me know and we can edit things. Also, I'll let it up to you whether or not Evelyn's perception check would have beat Val's stealth check.

Happy to be recruited! by Evelyn Stones

Evelyn was focusing pretty hard on what she was doing because what she was doing was eating eggs. It wasn't like this necessarily took a lot of effort or concentration but it was the sort of thing that warranted it just for the sake of enjoying the meal properly. Plus, meals were a bit of a sad affair at times without Heinrich here, an absence she was still getting used to, and hanging out with Edgar when Ness was busy or else not yet arrived was about as close to warm fuzzy feelings as she got these days. Her concentration was interrupted abruptly by panic as someone grabbed her, and it was a very good thing for them that she was sitting down. The punch that she threw was limited in strength by the fact that she could only twist so far from this vantage point, and her wand was shoved in her bag where it wasn't going to be used too. Instead, a half-thrown (but still fairly hard) punch was aimed at her attacker's mid-section and a shriek escaped her mouth.

When she turned to find Valentine standing there, her eyes rounded in horror. "I'm so sorry!" she said, hands fluttering uselessly, torn between making sure she hadn't done any damage to her friend and covering her own face in shame. "I'm so sorry. You scared me and . . . I'm jumpy," she summarized, not wanting to get into that one. "I'm sorry. I don't like people coming up behind me but I would never try to hit you, Val, I'm so sorry."

She thought it spoke volumes about Valentine that the girl still took a seat with her when Evelyn affirmed that she was happy to scheme and that she had a few minutes, although she was pretty sure she would have agreed to most things at that point just to try to make up for her instinctual reaction. The request for some of her time had come as a whisper in her ear at short range which probably hadn't helped at all, as people breathing on her neck uninvited was one of her least favorite things ever, but she knew that Valentine couldn't entirely be blamed for that and she was in some ways glad that the girl hadn't had reasons to think that this may not be a good choice of approach.

Evelyn took another bite of her eggs, trying to force herself to swallow her feelings at the same time as she listened to Val and Edgar nudged her fingers with her face as if aware of Evelyn's thoughts. Her mood shifted though when Val got out what she was trying to do and Evelyn grinned.

"I have absolutely no ideas at all but that sounds amazing. Oh, I'm so glad you thought of this. I'm happy to help however I can," she beamed, and Edgar chirped happily on the table.

OOC: Tried not to god-mod whether or not Val managed to dodge, so feel free to say either way whether Evelyn hit her.

Also, Edgar is a lil purple pygmy puff, for sake of reminding. :)

Ooof... good, good. by Valentine Duell

Valentine wasn't sure what had happened. One moment she was hugging her friend and then there was a shrieking in her ears and she was stumbling backwards, bent over, clutching at her stomach and gasping for air. The sensation was mildly similar to the results of her crash last year. It wasn't a great feeling, but it paled in comparison to the feeling she got a moment later once she had mostly caught her breath again and looked up at Evelyn.

Evelyn looked absolutely horrified. Val could see the pain, fear and a myriad of other things playing out across the older girl's expression and voice. Val had made Evelyn do something terrible, she hadn't known, and she didn't want to make Evelyn feel like that. She didn't want to make anyone feel like that. Straightening up again she tried to hide a minor grimace of pain behind a normal, friendly smile. "It's okay, I'm fine. I'm sorry, I didn't know. It's all my fault. I won't do it again." she promised.

As she sat next to Evelyn, moving perhaps a bit gingerly, the question did cross Val's mind wondering what could prompt a reaction like that. She did not like the answers that her own mind supplied and hoped Evelyn just took a lot of martial arts classes or something. Her smile quirked just a little playfully, "Have you ever thought of playing a monk character sometime?" Her face softened into one of gentle concern, she wanted to offer... something to Evelyn if there was some sort of problem, but she didn't know what or if she even should. Evelyn was older and smarter and more resourceful than her. She didn't have much to give but friendship and hugs... and that last hug hadn't worked so well.

Val watched Evelyn's cute little purple puffskein as it seemed to reflect Evelyn's mood. She was glad that both of them seemed to think that the party was a good idea, but a little disheartened that Evelyn wasn't full of fantastic ideas for it. "Maybe we can come up with some good ideas then," she suggested hopefully. "You know Ness the best, what kind of party would she like?"
