Mangers, etc.

It's public knowledge that pureblood society has a myriad of events happening over scheduled school breaks. I thought it'd be easier for all of us to get organized if we made a list of who hosts what and when, so I've set up a google spreadsheet which everyone can access here.

If anyone has any problem viewing or editing, let me know.

Yearbook Staff

February 12, 2016 3:43 PM
Hey Everyone!

It’s that time for the yearbook survey. For those of you who are new, the yearbook is something that I do as a side project for the site. It is not maintained by the staff, so questions should be directed to me or my email, sonorarpkids@gmail.com.

Every term when the Midsummer event takes place, a yearbook is provided to the students as a 'thanks for the year' treat. The students participate with the yearbook by providing surveys for the award section of the book. You, as the author, will complete the forms for each of your characters as best as you can. This will get easier each year as you begin to develop relationships with your character's peers.

PLEASE NOTE: I will notice when a large number of surveys are favoring his/her own characters in the ‘School Wide’ section. The point of this section is to be fair to ALL students at the school and to NOT try to win all of the votes for your own characters. I will not accept these votes when it is showing favoritism. I understand that sometimes your character does fit into a category for that section and that is fine, but when an author has multiple characters and they all vote the same in that section, it’s favoritism and takes away from the fun of the yearbook.

I am asking for all surveys to be completed by March 4th as this will give me time to tally them and complete the yearbook by the time the Bonfire rolls around. Please email them to me at the email address provided above.

Here is the most current active list to base your answers on (please remember that this list is for characters who have actively posted. If you have posted and are not on the list, please let me know).

Active List

Here is the link to the survey:

Any questions, please do not hesitate to email at sonorarpkids@gmail.com.

I appreciate everyone who helps me with this portion of the yearbook!

Stolen from the boards of another RPG site, this game is just to have some OOC fun. Here's the idea, leave an OOC question for a character, an author will then reply IC and either leave that question for another character to answer again or leave a different question for the next character. These questions can be anything from "what's your best memory?" to "do you prefer strawberries or blueberries?"

Let's get started wiiiith:
Soup or salad? Why?

Soup, of course! My homeland has so many wonderful soups and my Mana (Mom) has been teaching me various ones to make so that my brother and I have a warm home cooked meal every night when she cannot be there to cook it herself.

My question to the next person is this: What has been your favorite lesson (not necessarily class, but just lesson) here and why?

Flying lesson, hands down! Riding a broom for the first time was exhilarating! My friends and I were all in the air together, wobbly but up, and it was breezy, and my stomach had butterflies - I was so happy to have become a witch right then, more so than even usual.

Next question, who do you wish you interacted with more here?

That's a hard one to answer as I have so many great memories at Sonora! My top memory, however, has to be the Pecari-Aladren Quidditch match is SA23. Although we lost in the end, I think us Chasers played really well together and it was the last match I got to play alongside Rupert and the Anns.

My question to the next person is: what is your favourite thing to do during your free time at Sonora?

Hey guys,

You only have a little more than a week left to complete your surveys! Thank you to everyone who has already submitted theirs, but a lot more is needed to make this a majority vote!

Deadline is March 4th.

Just an FYI, you can write your characters down for any answer that you feel fit. 'Funny' responses are okay, but aren't likely to actually be in the yearbook. Also, if you cannot think of a male/female answer to each question, fill out two people who you feel fit the question best as I do accept double gender answers.

Hope this helps!

Remember, send all surveys to: sonorarpkids@gmail.com

Please post your club and the members of the club. If you aren't sure of everyone who might be in the club, please have them sign up below so that I can record them for the yearbook. Due to the chaos of this term, only one post is required for a club to be included in the yearbook.

Since Quidditch has been cancelled this term, I am unsure of what the teams look like. Based on prior years, current listings, and OOC talk in chatzy, this is what I have:

Aladren:

Captain Beater - Leo Bennett
Assisstant Captain - Seeker - Clark Dill
Keeper - Theodore Wolseithcrafte
Beater - John Umland
Chaser - Louis Valois
Chaser - John Spencer

Tepp:

Captain Beater - Liac Reinhardt
Beater - Tobias Reinhardt
Chaser - Andrew Carey
Keeper - Ginger Pierce
Chaser - Natalie Varth
Chaser - Gabriel Valenti
Seeker - Jacob Manger

Crotalus:

Captain Chaser - Alistair Johnson
Chaser - Isaac Douglas
Seeker - Uzume Shinohara
Beater - Arne Reinhardt
Chaser - Daniel Fintac

Pecari:

Captain Keeper - Liliana
Assistant Captain Chaser - Joella Curtis
Beater - Atlas Primred
Beater - Sammy Meeks
Chaser - Ben Pierce
Chaser - Ingrid Wolseithcrafte
Seeker - Jamie Park
Reserve - Cameron Dempsey

If you should have signed up but forget, please let me know. If it's with an already full team, please discuss with the Captain if you would have made the team or the reserve and then let me know the outcome.

Thank you!

On one hand I've never had any desire to be in any other house--Pecari is by far the best! I suppose I've been curious from time to time about what the other common rooms are like, but then I remember how great Pecari's is an I no longer really care (I bleed brown and gold, can you tell?) I suppose if I had to sneak into another house for a night it would be Aladren because...well...you're too young to hear this answer... Or maybe Teppenpaw- I feel like they'd throw a good party...

Next question: if you were a Muggle, what would be your ultimate fandom? (Harry Potter is not included in this)

As a second generation muggleborn who still has access to all forms of muggle media, I can say with some authority that, um, I can't narrow it down to just one ultimate fandom ... well unless you allow for some pretty massive crossovers. Dad's a Trekkie through and through, and Klingon was my next language after English, so that one is pretty high up there, and once I was advanced enough for more complex grammer and vocabulary, I learned the Tolkien languages, so Middle Earth was the next closest thing to reality in my home, so that one is up there, too. But if I really absolutely had to puck just one... I'm going to go with Stargate because time travel and alternate realities are canon there so eventually, you can probably find all the other worlds!

Next person: what do you study not because you have to but because you love the subject? (can be a core class or formal independent study, but doesn't have to be)

Camp Nano Challenges!

March 01, 2016 5:09 PM
Hey everyone! I hope you're excited as excited for Camp Nano (which starts in April) as I am! It will be one month of fun and writing and sweatbloodandtears, but mostly fun! Here at Sonora we have some fun challenges for those who don't want to do the actual nanoing with NaNoWriMo. I just got my first email from the Camp Nano staff which I'll post below in hopes it pumps the rest of you up! I've got some great new challenges to give you come April so get ready, this will be a month to remember!

Email:

With spring around the corner, it's time to roll up your sleeves and gather the tools you'll need to plant your new story ideas. (We recommend a hefty bag of plot fertilizer, a watering can's worth of your favorite beverage, and lots of snacks to lure excess plot bunnies from your planter box.)

Wherever you live, wherever you are—whether you’re in the world's largest city or a suburban neighborhood or miles from your nearest neighbor—we invite you to nurture your writing project at Camp NaNoWriMo this April.

At Camp NaNoWriMo, you can:

Plant any seed.

Camp NaNoWriMo is open to all writing projects. Whether you want to write a novel, edit a close-to-final draft, or tackle a script, some short stories, or a nonfiction work, Camp NaNoWriMo welcomes any seed of inspiration.
Cultivate community.

Camp NaNoWriMo offers 12-person online writing groups, which we call cabins. Meet other writers by being sorted into a cabin based on your age, genre, or goals.

Already have a group of fellow writers? Create a private cabin.

Grow creative confidence.

Camp NaNoWriMo lets you set your own word-count goal. Committing to writing every day in April is the first step to establishing an everyday creative habit throughout the year. Afterall, NaNoWriMo isn't just a one-month challenge. It's a year-round call to embrace that blank page.

Beginning on April 1, let your stories take root at Camp NaNoWriMo.

Please remember you can always ask me questions either by email (included in Author line) or on chatzy :)

I've never really been a fan of the idea of 'pets.' I think that animals flourish the best when allowed to live out their own lives peacefully in their natural habitats. That being said, my dream job is to own my own refuge wherein I can treat wild animals and rehabilitate them to return to the wilderness. I think that would be really an amazing job. That being said, perhaps I wouldn't mind having a dog and/or a couple cats, probably rescues, because at this point animals like dogs and cats have been domesticated to the point where they might not survive long on their own amongst bigger, stronger animals.

What is your dream job?

Hi everyone! I hope you all are as excited for the new term as I am! I'm especially jazzed because this year the new term coincides with Camp Nano!

Starting April 1 I will be posting weekly challenges every Friday for your enjoyment! You can join in the fun by posting links to your answers to the challenge in reply to the posted challenges OR, if you feel up to it, join me and some of your fellow authors in a Nano Cabin at campnanowrimo.org where you can set a word goal for the month and monitor your progress!

Everyone is welcome to join the cabin. It does hae a twelve-person limit per cabin but if more than twelve people want to join in the fun we can set up a second cabin and split people up evenly.

If you'd like to join, please either pm me (Liliana & Co.), catch me in chatzy, or reply to this with your nano user name so I can add you.

Looking forward to another fun set of challenges with you!

So many apologies for the late start, however here is the first challenge that has been so long awaited!

Glimpse of the future drabble: write a 400-word maximum glimpse into one of your character’s futures to post on wts or the crackship.

Remember to reply to this post with a link to your drabble when you've finished!
