OOC: How does this work again? Oh... right.... BIC:
Valentine sat down at the table, and smiled to herself. It promised to be another beautiful fall morning today. She held the cup of tea in her hands and soaked up the heat it offered. Today would be a cool one again, but it was about time. The summer heat had stretched far enough, it was time for cozy sweaters, warm fires and snuggling. Snuggling was very good. She could see the trees slowly starting to change for the fall outside the window of the cafe.
The day's tasks began to swirl about Val's mind, but she did her best not to pay any attention to them yet. She sipped her tea and just basked in the morning and a promise of a new day and all of its potential. The tea was very good, it was calming as well. She was going to have to remember this place, and bring Aunt Giselle the next time she came to visit. Which reminded her that she needed to call Mama again today, maybe after the morning errands were run, before… nope, none of that. She stopped herself from those tasks that seemed like they just had to get themselves sorted out. Not right now though, this was morning relaxing time, there would be plenty of time for tasks and plans and schedules later.
Instead, Val focused on the people moving past the window of the cafe outside. It wasn’t very busy out there, but there were enough folks to distract her. People-watching was one of her favorite pastimes. The man hurrying by in a suit might be late for an important business meeting, she hoped it went well for him. A pair of women strolling along chatting may be out on a shopping adventure, or they could be plotting a bank heist. That second option sounded more fun, but she wasn’t sure if she should hope their plan would go well. Others passed and she got to speculate on their lives a bit as they moved across the other side of her window. It wasn't long though before she had company, the bestest company.

Bonabelle was so tired. Autumn graced the trees with soft fiery kisses - Bonabelle's favorite type of kisses of course - and that meant the beginning of the school year. That ever looming 1 September that was somehow always too far away to really pay the bills and always too close for the work to stop had only recently come and gone. It was impossible to actually say the work was done, but at least there was a lull.
She'd severely underestimated how much work really went into this sort of career and if this was the sort of expectations of an apprentice, she hated to imagine what it would be like to properly be in charge. Of course, then she'd be able to spend more time with Val at least... Val!
The books she was supposed to be studying toppled over as she scooped up her coat and book bag but she waved her wand with a quick incant as she dashed out the door and was confident from the sound of shuffling behind her that there would be no mess waiting for her when she inevitably returned to the shop. The bell on the front door chimed as she ran out and it hadn't yet settled by the time she'd disapparated, appearing suddenly outside the cafe where Val was waiting for her with a nauseating woosh. They were supposed to be meeting ten minutes previously, and although Val was always reassuring that she understood the time and work obligations Bonabelle was working under, Bonabelle hated to make her wait. Especially since Val had her own fair share of things on her mind and the least Bonabelle could do was support her partner by showing up for her. Literally.
"I'm so sorry I'm late," Bonabelle said before she'd even sat down. Her scarf and her hair were a tangled mass around her wind nipped nose and cheeks; despite her brief time outside, it was long enough to feel that autumn was indeed in the air. "I'm so sorry," she said again, leaning over to give Val a kiss before sitting down and dumping her bag and cold-weather accoutrement in an open chair. "You look beautiful as always, darling," she smiled.
