We planned to meet but... [Billy] by Reighleigh Mae Thorn

OOC: Edited after discussion of realism in the Sonora universe and to correct accidental godmodding. BIC:

The plan was to meet up in the Gardens. They'd written letters over the summer and planned a meetup. Careful, thoughtful, well-thought-out preparation and planning. It was the only way to accomplish the sort of pranks and tomfoolery they were so well versed in. After all, what fun was mischief if you had to deal with the consequences? Some consequences weren't planned, either. Ray had spent most of the trip to Sonora throwing up into a bag; at least she'd planned for that.

When she made her way to the Gardens, she was probably still a bit green, not just by way of the weird green graduation robes that passed for fashion and never ceased to disgust Ray when she got to Sonora, but also because of the hue of her cheeks, and not just from nausea. At least the horrible robes would be useful this year. When would that become relevant?

Soon, she saw the familiar lick of orange hair around a dopey grin and she couldn't help feeling better for a moment; that was her person, now more than ever. She put a hand up to stop him from getting too close before he could do something that was absolutely going to make her throw up again, like spin her around or hug her too tight. Was there such a thing as hugging too tight now? She added that to the mental list of questions to ask the nurse at some point. Also she needed to talk to Professor Skies at some point but that point was absolutely not this point.

"I need you to take a deep breath," she said. "And I need you not to yell or make too much noise, I haven't told the school yet," she added in hopes of staving off any a'whoopin' or a'hollerin'. Her face was a mix of expressions, probably unreadable, even to herself. She truly had no idea what she was feeling because it seemed like she was feeling something different from one moment to the next. "Remember when I was in Nashville for the pageant?" Of course he did. It would be ridiculous if he didn't remember such things.

They'd been so close at the bonfire, only stopping just before they crossed any lines because the risk of being caught was too high; even with all their prep and planning, the staff were wiser to it. If nothing else, Osvaldo certainly seemed keen on making sure no one got up to any shenanigans on the grounds and he was easy to hear stomping around and cursing (presumably, as he was speaking Spanish) more than once during their forbidden picnic in the dark. Still, it had been a taste of an adventure it was clear they both wanted to go on and they'd made plans to meet as soon as Ray got home and found out her next pageant was a weeklong trip in Nashville at the end of June. It would have been a weeklong trip with Billy if he hadn't gotten lost in the big city but it turned out that even just a couple days was enough to line themselves up for consequences.

"We... uh..." How did you tell your boyfriend something like this? Finally, she blurted it out. "I'm pregnant."

OOC: Osvaldo's actions and Billy and Ray's Nashville forays approved by their authors.

I think we met well. by Billy Cobb

Billy had been thinking about Ray an awful lot over the summer. She never seemed to leave his mind, it was great. Although because of that, most of the summer was pure torture. He'd been so glad when she wrote and said she'd be in a pageant in Nashville, which was close enough. He could get there!

He had gathered his maps, told everyone he'd be back in a week and set out! It was exciting being an adult! Heck, Ulrich had shown him where the brooms were and helped plan out the trip once he knew what the plan was! To bad the maps and Ulrich's memory were both a bit out of date, still he'd gotten there and met up with Rey for the most awesomeist, fantastic, wonderful time ever!! He also got to see her in a pageant finally. He could see why she hated them.

Once he made it back home, a little later than expected, the rest of the summer was torture. Plus Iris' constant griping about him leaving her behind didn't help none.

Now he was back at school and Rey was here somewhere and he was grinning like a fool. He was gunna find her, hug her as tight as he could and spin around like there was no tomorrow! He spotted her and bounded over, but she stopped him before he could wrap his arms around her.

She looked a little off? Wagonsick? Maybe. Before he could ask if she was alright, she started talking and saying some weird stuff. Oh well. He took a deep breath as instructed. Was he supposed to hold it? If she didn't want him making noise, maybe he was? So he did.

He nodded enthusiastically at her question about Nashville, the smile never coming close to leaving his face. Boy did he ever, as if he could forget. She paused hesitating, and in that moment just as she stated it out loud, his brain clicked things into place.

The air he'd been holding rushed out of him without him realizing. "What?" He got out while catching his breath again. Somewhere in the back of his mind a thought wandered around wondering if Rey was pullin' his leg, but he didn't pay it no mind. "That's..!" He started to exclaim before he remember that Rey wanted him to be quiet. He tried again in the quietest whisper he could manage, which wasn't very, "That's awesome!" He was grinning wide and pulled her into a hug.

His brain then also went to something else that Ulrich had given him, and he'd entrusted it to Archie for safekeeping. But first there was something else he had to ask Rey. He pulled back from her and held her at arm's length. With his plainly joking expression he asked the question, "Who's the dad?" Then braced for her to hopefully slug him.

Well, we met. by Reighleigh Mae Thorn

Ray was halfway to a light smack against Billy's chest for starting out so loud when he finished what he was saying in a lower voice and the smack turned to one of grumpiness. It didn't land though as she was quickly swept up in a hug that absolutely made her want to retch but which she also appreciated... and survived; when Billy pulled back, she did swat at him.

"Oh stop," she huffed, although she couldn't help a bit of a giddy half-smile at his excitement. She was glad it was so contagious because she hadn't yet managed to be excited. She'd looked up all the information she could while she still had the internet at her fingertips about their options and their odds and she wasn't yet far enough along to know for sure it would stick anyway but she could tell by the look on Billy's face that any amount along was long enough to know: they were going to keep the baby. The baby. "We're going to have a baby," she squeaked, not sure whether it was the 'we' or 'the baby' that made her feel more squeaky.

She promptly burst into tears.

"W-w-we're going to-- I have to give bir-- we're going to-- This is going to suck so much," she sobbed before turning and dry heaving into a bush. Luckily(?) her stomach had long since emptied itself and nothing came out. "This already sucks so much," she said, wiping her face as the tears subsided. She sat down. "Do wizards have magic pain killers because muggle birth sucks and I don't wanna do it," she declared firmly. She put her face in her hands as she did the mental math that put Baby's arrival just a few months before Billy's end-of-year exams. "What are we going to do?"

We sure did. by Billy Cobb

As far as Billy knew, pregnancy was a good thing. Back home it was always something to be celebrated. It meant more people in their mountain community, it meant a continuing of their people and way of life. When a girl told you she was pregnant, you did whatever you could depending on your relationship to her. In this case, well it was a pretty close relationship.

He didn't even try to dodge as she swatted him. "Yup," he agreed to her assessment of the situation. They were gunna have a baby. Wait…

The moment that thought finally managed to sink into Billy's brain, Ray started to freak out. His thought started spinning wildly, but he couldn't pay any attention to them 'cause Rey was crying and talking and he had no idea what to do. He tried to reach out to her, but she turned and bent over a bush before sitting down.

His brain was still working on processing this information, but he knew a few things. He liked Rey a lot, this was one of them big moment things, he liked Ray a lot, fatherhood?, Rey was upset, and he was kinda hungry.

Billy did what he normally did, acted on instinct without thinking too hard. When had that not worked out? He took a seat next to Rey, put his arm around her shoulders and leaned her into him. "We're gunna have a baby. That's what we're gunna do. Babies are good things. I dunno how it'll all work out, but we'll figure it out." A thought struck him, "We can talk to Professor Carter-Xavier, she's had some experience with this sort of thing, right?" That was a good idea. Sometimes he surprised even himself with his brilliance. "She said we should talk to her about things, right?"
