Yarielis pushed open the door, now displaying a plaque that read ‘2nd Years.’ Back again. It didn’t feel fully comfortable, but then nothing ever did. The school itself was like the weight of the robes that the students had to wear—it wasn’t bad, per se, but it was going to get some getting used to again. Home had been the same. There were parts of it that Yarielis slid back into easily, and parts that grated, though the Crotalus tried to swallow those down or endure them with a smile.
One of the plus points of being home was the bakery, and there were a few small reminders of that, carefully packed in Yarielis’ backpack for… friends? People who tolerated Yarielis’ presence on a reasonably frequent basis, and had managed to go a year without expressing some form of blatant hatred. Aka, Freya, and Cole. The latter would get his gift at the feast. Yarielis seemed to be the first one back to the second year dorm, so slid the white box, stamped with ‘The Island Bakery’ and a little palm tree in red and blue, onto Freya’s night stand. It contained a piece of flan, which Yarielis had helped to make.
The next most important thing was changing clothes. Yarielis didn’t know why Mama insisted on dressing church-level smart for the first day back, given that it was going to be hidden under robes the whole time. But if it made Mama happy, it made Yarielis… not want to fight it. Making Mama happy made Yarielis happy, even if the white button down and ruffled skirt definitely did not. The button down might have been okay if it hadn’t had cutesy puffed sleeves, and if it hadn’t fitted so closely. Yarielis grabbed a loose fitting baseball top and shorts, deliberately packed right on top of everything else, and went into the bathroom to change.
Once that was done, Yarielis wanted nothing more than to hit the Quidditch Pitch after a long summer with limited flying, but it would be more responsible to unpack first. Unfortunately, the spell to unpack a whole suitcase with a single wave of a wand hadn’t been on the first year curriculum.
The second year was just placing one of the nice dresses Mama had insisted on onto a hanger (where it would almost definitely remain for the entire year), when the door opened.
“Hey,” Yarielis greeted Freya, peeking out from behind the closet door. “Good summer?”
OOC: After a year of sharing, Freya’s main impressions of Yarielis are probably:
- super quiet
- default style is sportswear/shorts tees and hoodies
I don’t think Yarielis has any super bad habits as a roommate. The two of them are on the Quidditch team together, so that’s probably a big source of conversations, and probably something that draws Yarielis out a little more, but mostly, not a talker. Up to you whether Freya reads that correctly (as shyness/just kinda quiet) or it comes across as stand-offish. Freya would probably know already that Yarielis’ parents run a Puerto Rican bakery.
