It's been a little while [Alexander] by Valentine Duell
Valentine sat in the Teppenpaw common room working on her latest potions essay. Well, half working on her potions essay. It was on the table in front of her, and she occasionally was adding words to it. Her book was open next to it, and she even occasionally looked at it. Her heart was not in the work though. She was actually waiting for someone, a specific someone, Alexander. As such, anytime anyone walked into the common room she looked up and forgot what she had been doing on the essay.She wasn't quite sure why she wanted to talk to Alexander, but she did. It had been a little while since they'd just hung out and talked. Most of that was her own fault, she knew. Val had been wondering last year if Alexander might ask her to the ball, but he never did. True, she'd been dating Bonabelle and that might have kept him away. Then he decided to ask Anya, which was totally fine, Anya was a great person and friend. So, she'd just kinda left those two alone, figuring they wouldn't want her in the middle somewhere. It really hadn't been to hard with her schedule to just let things slide. Lavender had been right about that as well.
Maybe she just wanted to check in with him then, see how things were going, make sure that he knew she was fine with everything and just spend some time with him again. She was trying to focus on some sentence on her paper about the proper way to stir the shredded dittany into the concoction when she heard someone enter the common room. It was Alexander! She smiled wide and waved him over to her.
"Hi Alexander!" she greeted him, "It just seems like a long time since we've hung out, how are you doing?" A thought struck her and she pulled back a little, "I'm sorry if you're busy, that's fine. I just wanted to catch up a bit... and maybe get some of your thoughts on surviving RATS?" She remembered a few years ago when he became an intermediate and she told him to learn how it works so he could tell he all about it when she got there the next year. Now they were in the same position again, he was off to the advanced classes.
