It was one of those days. The days where Ness walked into the room and Topaz was there. It had been a nice day up until that point. Ness had enjoyed going to Ellie’s café, and had an extra rainbow sticker to add to the collection of passive aggressive liberal decorations that covered Ness’ side of the room. Almost exactly to the exact half-way point of the shared wall.
Ness peeled off the rainbow sticker, sticking it pointedly on the edge of a flyer right on the borderline. And if the sticker was at an angle that made it slightly go over, that was totally an accident.
Topaz sighed and rolled her eyes. Snotti-Ness could be so lame in her pettiness. Topaz was so much better at the petty stuff.
Of course, now she might have to find something to put over it back. As her decor was mostly her taxidermy-something she genuinely felt passionate about, by the way-and therefore three dimensional, it was going to be hard.
Although there were those pictures in her Herbology notebook....
Fortunately, it would be over soon. She couldn't wait. For now, she was not going to give Snotti-Ness the satisfaction of reacting
Ness didn’t bother to hide a smirk, visibly pleased by Topaz’s obvious annoyance. It was a real sign of the extremely special bond they had built over the years that they could now start an argument with each other without saying a word.
Ness lay down, stomach down, pulling a book from the nightstand, doing a good impression of being relaxed even if that was hard to fully do with the snake sitting opposite. Actually, that was a disservice to snakes.
It was times like this that a phone would have been useful, so that Ness had an excuse to talk about things that would bother Topaz without talking to Topaz.
