I'm so sorry but you're so welcome. [Gray] by Mary Brooding-Hawthorne

OOC: CW reference to alcohol. Possibly too much alcohol. BIC:

Mary was usually a very responsible potionsmaster and she made a point of only using her abilities for good. She didn't brew things to hurt people and she didn't brew things to mess around with serious things. But . . . well, sometimes she brewed things just because it was hilarious. With staff arriving back to school for the new year but no students yet present, she and Tabitha had taken to celebrating a bit. It was nice to start the new year with a celebration, and if Tabitha had had the brilliant idea to dress Ailuros up like a tiny dragon. . . . and Mary had had the great idea to give her a little bit of a (kneazle safe) potion to make her breathe fire . . . and if Ailuros had taken to it like the little queen she was . . . well, that seemed like a good use of potions brewing to Mary. There may have been alcohol involved on Tabitha's part but Mary wasn't about to tattle. Besides, they were allowed to drink if done responsibly and Tabitha was being mostly responsible. Really, it was Ailuros that was causing problems.

Taken with her new ability to breathe fire (it was harmless, Mary had made sure, but looked quite real) and her new velvet wings which Tabitha had harnessed onto her, Ailuros had taken to the halls. Tabitha had gone after her - A dragon is on the loose! - and Mary had gone after Tabitha. They'd followed Ailuros all the way to Gray's office, only in time to find the kneazle pushing the slightly open door all the way and making her way inside. Tabitha pressed her back against the wall next to the door, peering at it as if it were a great mystery how she would get inside. She pressed a finger to her lips and told Mary to be careful, that they should proceed with caution, so Mary agreed, told her to count to ten, and then went after Ailuros as Tabitha tried to remember how to count that high.

"Gray," Mary said, giggling a little as she faced up with the very straight-laced Charms professor and a dragon-costumed kneazle who was rubbing herself against his legs. "I am so sorry to interrupt. Are you ready to see our Defense professor take down a dragon?"

OOC: Tabitha's actions approved by her author.

That was unexpected. by Grayson Wright

Odd things did sometimes happen in the Charms classroom, and always had. It was the natural function of Charms classrooms to generate odd events, as was widely known in all parts of the wizarding world, and certainly well-known amongst all Charms teachers. Even acknowledging this reality, though, Gray thought he was within his rights to be a little surprised when his door was nudged open and, upon looking up and finding no-one there, he looked down and spotted what appeared to be a kneazle with wings.

“Oh,” he said, peering at the animal through his glasses, registering the fabric-and-harness nature of the wings and recognizing the creature as Mary and Tabitha’s pets. Kneazles, he knew, could be temperamental, but his life was relatively uncomplicated and he had no particularly dishonest intentions, so he doubted he had much reason to fear it. Therefore, he nodded to it and added, “hello.”

The kneazle mewed, as if in response, and then there was fire.

Gray made a strangled noise of horror, his legs instinctively pushing his chair further away from where flame had billowed a moment earlier while he also, simultaneously, threw the top half of his body forward, reaching for his wand in a wild hope of saving anything in the bottom drawer of his desk – and, naturally, lost his balance in this contradiction. He caught himself on the edge of the desk as the fire disappeared as quickly as it had appeared and Mary entered the room.

He looked at the Potions professor in consternation, then at the kneazle, which was now rubbing itself against his feet and apparently wanting attention as he regained his seat, and then back at the Potions professor. “My desk isn’t on fire,” he observed, as though this was a response perfectly logical to make after what Mary had said.
