A Memory

I don't think that's how gravity works by A Memory

Mist swirled through the Pecari Commonroom, coalescing into a woman. Her hair was straight and long, tied back into a low ponytail. She was dressed in a shirt with fringe, designer jeans, and cowgirl boots. Though she was completely silver, she still somehow manage to give off the impression that at least some, if not all, of her clothes were pink. It was probably the hearts embroidered into the shirt near her shoulders that did it, or maybe the flowers on her boots. She had her arms crossed in front of her and that stern kind of look on her face that Moms used when they were observing their small children doing something they should probably know not to do by now. Her disapproving gaze was fixed on the largest couch in the common room. "What did I tell you about jumping on the furniture?" she asked in that too-calm voice of someone who was very not pleased with what she was observing.

"That's right. Not to do it," she said tersely after a moment, though nobody had said anything. "So why are you doing it?" She paused, as if giving someone a chance to explain themselves. After a moment, her expression changed to one of something between consternation, confusion, and irritation. "I don't think that's how gravity works, Anastasia," she stated.

Then her eyes widen in alarm as she saw something nobody else could. "Raoul!" she shouted suddenly and pulled a wand out of her sleeve, her gaze now locked on something near to the ceiling over the couch. "Anya's definitely a witch and she's floating! Help me get her down before she hurts herself!"

Don't tell me what to do. by Leonor De Matteo

Leonor was not going to think about anything. In fact, she was determined not to think about anything. She had a book and she had her Common Room, where neither her brother nor Jeremy could be, and she had a foul expression on her face to keep any of her housemates from thinking she wanted company. It would have gone perfectly well if she hadn't been scolded upon sitting down.

The woman appeared over her with her own nasty expression and Leonor was too shocked to feel bitter about that. "Excuse me, I didn't jump on anything," she told the woman resolutely, scowling. It was just her luck to get told off by a ghost for something she hadn't even done. The woman seemed to ignore her though and then went off about gravity. "I'm not Anastasia," she said a little louder, slapping her book onto the couch beside her and preparing to stand up to tell this woman what was what when suddenly the woman's expression changed.

Oh sure, she can go off scolding Leonor for something she didn't do but the moment Leonor got ready to confront her about it, it was all shock and backing away. Except that wasn't exactly it, and she was calling to someone else then. "Who's--" Leonor began, interrupted again by the nasty ghost woman. Anya. Leonor knew someone named Anya but she wasn't about to get her in trouble if that's who this woman thought she was scolding. Besides, this woman clearly couldn't see what she was going on about if she thought Leonor was Anya because the two girls didn't look a bit alike.

Then something flitted back into Leonor's own head as she remembered a post she'd seen about strange mist-like apparitions around the school. Could this be one of those? She stuck her hand out to pass through the woman, well aware that it would be very rude if the woman was indeed a ghost but not caring much since the woman was rude to her anyway. It passed through her and the woman didn't even get upset.

Leonor's eyes widened in further shock and she looked around the room, frustrated to find that there were no prefects nearby that she could see. In fact, she was alone. She wasn't about to start screaming her head off for help so she just scowled at the woman and huffed. She was happy to hear someone approach then, before she could decide whether to stand up and go search for someone or just sit there like the petulant child she was feeling more and more like every day.

"Any ideas?" she demanded craning her neck to see who it was.

I didn't by Theo Spurn

Theo’s friend Leonor was hanging out with him. She was on the sofa and he was sitting in the window and they were doing different things. But it was nice to hang out. He thought about making it a more interactive hang out by actually being near enough to talk but Leonor’s current thing was reading her book and that was usually a thing people liked to do Quietly and Alone. Certainly Dad liked to be Quiet and Alone when he had books. Theo thought that Leonor might not like being alone with her book because it appeared to be making her angry.

Then someone else came along and joined Leonor, and clearly interrupting was okay because Leonor chatted for quite a while to the other person and then tried to tickle them.

Theo bounced over. Leonor greeted him with a very interesting question. Though a bit of an obvious one, because who didn’t have ideas??

“Lots!” he beamed enthusiastically, and because he knew Non-Literal Meanings, he also knew that when Leonor asked ‘do you have…?’ she probably meant ‘Please share’ because words were strange like that. “Embroidery is weird because it’s adding softness to something soft but you use something really sharp to achieve it. Grown up kissing is just spitting in someone else’s mouth at point blank range and that is disgusting. If you make Oreos inside out should they be called Rooes?” he gave her a selection. “I have been thinking about the embroidery one lots. That might be my favourite at the moment. Though I don’t know if those are thoughts rather that ideas, or whether there is a real difference between those,” he added, “What are some of yours? Also why did you have your hand in a person-ish? That seems like a bad texture. No offence,” he added to the personish.
