And another (tag Johana Leonie) by Zara Jackson

Zara fidgeted with pieces of the puzzle. They had completed the first one she had brought back after Christmas so she'd sent it home to be swapped for another. It was surprising how linguistic doing a puzzle could get, what with talking about the shapes of pieces you were looking for, or the tiny details that were on them, but for the former, Zara did not know the technical terms (if there were any) and with the latter, the picture was always on hand. Plus they could always opt for companionable silence, even if she was less good at that.

She was trying to look like she was here and that she wanted to spend time with Johana Leonie but not like she was Waiting To Talk To Her because that was intimidating. She still wasn't sure how to play this either. That annoyed her further. It escalated the feeling that Jessica was a deliberately manipulative person who was playing her. Zara preferred to be direct. She didn't want to feel like Jessica was playing games and to not say anything to warn her roommate. But equally, she didn't want to be accused of spreading gossip. The whole thing just sucked and was why she didn't play crappy games like this. Because she thought people were people, not chess tokens.

"Hey," she smiled when Johana Leonie came in, "Wie gehts? How was your evening"
