Dear Students and Parents/Guardians,Please use this thread to RSVP for the upcoming Meet and Greet to be held at The Hotel Verbena in downtown Phoenix, Arizona at the end of the term. For parents who might know of each other, this will give you a chance to exchange information. For former alumni, this will provide a similar opportunity.
Please be mindful that this invitation has been extended to parents both Muggle and Magical, so be sure to look forward to an evening full of cross-cultural exploration. Should you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here.

Bo and Frances were born all California Pierces. Louise is a muggleborn witch who went to Sonora as a Pecari. Jorge is a Mexican-American from Southern California. He's from a squib subbranch of a Mexican magical family, but he had magic himself. He went to wizarding school somewhere in Mexico.

Question/Confirmation: I'm assuming this will require Muggle clothing?Parents, Guardians, and Students:
Alasdair Carey II, of the Savannah Careys, and his ex-wife Lorena Vaughn are Morgaine's parents, and they will not be attending. Lorena's brother politely refused on her behalf when the invitation arrived. Alasdair probably ignored the owl.
Andrew and Cathryn Carey, of the North Carolina Careys, are Amber's father and stepmother and will be attending.
Robert and Julia Carey, of the Virginia Careys, are Edmond's legal guardians and will attend.
Notes:
Alasdair is the patriarch of the Savannah Careys, but he no longer appears in public. No one's sure what he does out on his island, but it's generally assumed to invovle both Dark Magic and, when she's home, Morgaine. She's the only one of his three children he has anything to do with; he considers Edmond a Virginia Carey, and will hex anyone who so much as mentions Gwen's name in his presence. He attended Sonora in between -44 and -38 SA as a Crotalus. Lorena didn't come to Sonora, and is mostly just known to society as an ex-Carey.
Andrew is a former Teppenpaw and well-known scandal. He's been patriarch since he was six months old, he had a baby (Amber) with a Muggle, he's been married three times, and he's allowed Gwen to carry on as his permanent houseguest since she's come of age without explaining why. He was at Sonora between -16 and -10 SA. None of his wives (Amber's mother Lisa Norris, her ex-stepmother Meredith [Somebody], or Cathryn Spencer Carey of Rhode Island) attended Sonora at any point.
Robert is only minorly related to the majority of the Carey family. His great-great-whatever grandfather was the second cousin to Anthony Carey II. He, himself, spent years at the Cabinet before he retired, married Julia, and led a lovely unimportant life for about three years before Edmond became his foster-son. Since he doesn't have a son, Robert decided to make the best of it and treat Edmond as if he was really his. Only occasionally does Robert admit to himself that he knows who Edmond really is and that he's scared to death by that. He went to Salem, and is in his sixties.
For more details on the various Carey scandals/reputations and so forth, there's plenty of stuff on WtS and S&S. This has gotten long enough, I think, unless someone needs some clarification on something.

Caitlyn and Martin are the now separated, divorcing parents of James and Lutece Anthony.Caitlyn Portland will not be attending the meet and greet. She's utterly assured that Sonora is full of satanic, devil-worshipping nutcases who have brainwashed her son and middle daughter.
Martin Anthony, on the other hand, was pleased to receive the invitation, was tempted to keep the owl, and is utterly enthused to be attending. He would like to request a Portkey because there's no way he would ever pass up the opportunity to use something as uniquely magical as that.

The Hotel Verbena is owned and run by Roger Bark, a squib of unknown age and origin. We've reserved the back annex of his hotel for our exclusive use, and he's been good enough to arrange for both an open Floo and portkey point.Clothing, while certainly required, is not of a mandated style; feel free to dress as you wish.

Excellent point.Students without guardians/parents 'in the know,' may request their Head of House to act as a chaperon. In Mollie's case, that would be me, and I have no problem acting as such should she wish to attend.

John is the current President and owner of 76% of the shares in both Grimm Inquiries and Grimm Insurance. Stationed out of Boston, chances are if you are an affluent family on the East Coast, Muggle or Wizarding, you have encountered the Grimms.Many of the more pedigreed Purebloods may have had dealings with Grimm Inquiries in the past, whose business is to locate and acquire family heirlooms and other items of supposed worth.

Cecily and Amelia's father, Algernon Smythe II will be attending. He is a politician, currently involved with magical education. When you have read quotes from 'an education official' in magical newspapers, this was likely to have been given by Mr Smythe. He tried to interfer wherever possible with Council and Cabinet affairs, Sonora's activities, and political parties. He is often successful in persuading people to see his point of view. Money is not always involved. Algernon will be accompanied by his wife, who might possibly be the most proficient gossip in Illinois.Cynthia and Jethro's father, David Smythe, a junior partner in the accounting firm Oakanfold & Buuren (he may have dealt with your business accounts) will also be attending, accompanied by his wife Helen, another terrible gossip.

Oh, wow, I'm behind the times this week.Grayson Wright VIII and his wife, Janine (Gray's parents) will attend.
All numerals aside, Grayson's a pretty ordinary fellow. He was a Teppenpaw at Sonora, and for some reason, I think it was established back during one of the Alumni Banquet pre-threads that he was Bulla's roommate, though that could be me remembering things wrong. He played Keeper for Tepp and did an okay job of it, and wasn't a bad student. Now, he's one of the guys who fills things out in triplicate for the Council's Office of Magical Catastrophes.
His wife's name is Janine (not the one she was born with) and she's an East Coast Squib. At her advice, Gray's been careful never to disclose that information. She works for a library, and the Wrights pretty much blame her for the way Gray turned out. She doesn't much appreciate that, holds that there's nothing wrong with turning out the way Gray did, and will point that out at the slightest provocation.

Roland and Sarah St. Martin (Allie and Lila's parents) will attend.Roland is the eldest son of Alban St. Martin and his first wife, Christine. As such, he considers himself the rightful owner of the family estate, Magnolia Grove, and all of the St. Martin assets. His stepmother, Eileen, disagrees. This has caused quite a lot of tension and politicking between them over the years. Their mutual distaste for each other is pretty well-known. He's a Sonora man, and a (very proud) former member of Crotalus House.
The one slightly less-than-proper thing he did in his life was marry Sarah Gregory. She's an ex-Aladren (not that she broadcasts this; those people are too often crazy) a few years below him, very power-hungry, and known for putting on elaborate airs.

Mark and Nadia Layne (Geoff and Helena's parents) will be attending.Mark works for the Cabinet in International Relations. He's not very high-up, and his ambition far exceeds his means on most occasions. Just one of those things that can happen to the third of three sons with an ambitious mother. He was in Crotalus, once upon a time.
Nadia is English in origin and also works in international relations; it's how she met Mark. She's a lot younger than him, though a bit prematurely aged, and might have drawn a bit of attention for suddenly quitting her job right after Helena began her third year and not locating a new one for two years. She went to Hogwarts and was a Ravenclaw
Their youngest child, Lavinia, was supposed to have been a fourth year at Sonora right now, but it came to light just before Helena's third year that she was a Squib.

Tony and Alice Stephenson (Marissa Stephenson's parents) will be attending.They're from Athens, Georgia. Tony's an ophthalmologist, and Alice is a civil attorney. They're both respected in their little professional communities and, until Marissa got her Sonora letter, confidently looked forward to the time when they'd be visiting their daughters at Yale and Princeton. They're also into historic site preservation, and have, through Alice's uncle, a set of connections in the Muggle academic world, which made Sonora's stubborn refusal to exist all the most disconcerting for them.

The Santoros:The Santoro Clan (Julio) originated in Acapulco, Mexico where they established a Law Firm over 100 years ago. Although the Santoros are an old Pureblooded family and well prominent within the Mexican borders, their firm was what really made a name for them. Now they have established firms around Mexico, United States, and Europe. Their main focus in law is Criminal; however, they do have branches that work for Family law and Corporate law.
Lupe Chavez-Santoro is from one of the oldest Pureblood families within Spain although they are not known for having been born into money. Instead, only a few generations before her, the family began a small restaurant filled with family recipes and famous dishes of Spain. Now they have one of the largest restaurant chains in Spain and the Chavez family has become one of the Elite.
The Garcias:
Adam Garcia is a Halfblood. The child of a Muggleborn and a Pureblood. The Garcias are not well known and are a dying Pureblood family. However, now connected to the Santoros, they hope to have more of a name for themselves and better connections to other Purebloods. Adam Garcia works for the American Ministry/Government, but his job is not high in ranking. He is currently going to law school so that he can join the Santoro Law Firm.
Hannah Santoro-Garcia is the eldest daughter of Julio and Lupe. She was once a Ballerina but once she married Adam, she became a stay at home mother.

Edward Valentine Sr. has not an ounce of magical blood in his body. He is an accountant in Los Angeles and while not entirely comfortable being around magic(his wife was a squib; quite all right in his eyes), he has a vested interest in where he's been sending his children for the past 8 years.~*~
William Rabindra is the eldest son of Rosalind Rabindra Sr. (one of the wealthiest women in the British Empire) and owner of one of the largest - and certainly the oldest - bookstores in England: Rabindra Books est 1608. Some who frequent Europe or who are interested in Divination might have also heard of Divine Rites Inc, the second largest seller of divination supplies in the continent and started by his younger brother, Benjamin.
He is generally mild-mannered, but has a fierce sense of familiar pride. To be a Rabindra, in his eyes, is tantamount to being Merlin himself. He married Celia Danes(French born/Hogwarts educated on her father's insistence), an intelligent and still stunningly beautiful woman with a penchant for parties and forcing her two girls to fall in love with their betrothed. The only reason they married was because their close friendship while at school had led Celia to beg for him to marry her so she wouldn't have to marry someone else. Both were Ravenclaws.

Well then.. by Brockerts etc.
Accepting:Jim Brockert (father of Adam and Chelsea) will be attending alone while their mother Isabella stays home with the three younger children. Jim is an Aladren alum and Isabella was in Tepp.
Adrian and Claudia Brockert, the parents of Pippa and Tawny will be attending. Both attended Sonora at some point but I'm not sure what houses.
Quentin's parents, Warren and Lara Melcher will also be attending, in part because I have some sadistic desire for them to hear what his teachers have to say about him. *evil grin* Both were Crotali. The Melchers run an all male school in Dubuque, Iowa.
Jim, Adrian and Warren are second cousins to each other. The Brockerts are very prominent family in Colorado but I am not sure what most of them do for a job.
Afton's parents, Josh and Denise Stokes will be there. They're both muggles. Josh is an electrical engineer and Denise is a probation officer.
Declining:
Annabelle's parents, Howard V and Abigail, will not be attending because as far as they're concerned, they don't have a child at Sonora. Her aunt and uncle who are her guardians will not be there either due to other obligations.
Steven's parents, Steven III and Alberta will not be attending because there will be muggles there. Truthfully his parents aren't that horrified by the idea but they were strongly pressured by his grandfather, Steven II.
Thyme's parents, Agaric and Lydia...pretty much ignored the owl. They've been kind of messed up and oblivious since her twin sister died.

As long as they aren't too late,Lizzy and Jake should be there.Their daughter and son,Delmezla and Jamie, just sent an application to Sonora, so Lizzy and Jake aren't sure about this school yet, for they went to a magic school in England. Then they moved to the US after Delmazla and Jamie were born. Lizzy's mother is a muggle-born from America, while her dad was a pure-blood from England, but he died when she was born. Jake is a muggle born with 2 magical brother's too. Jake lived acroos the street from Lizzy his whole life, but never talked to her outside of muggle school until his brother got and acceptance letter to a magical school in England. Even if their children aren't accepted, they still want to meet and American professor. Please RSVP Jake and Lizzy and tell them when the meeting is!
