Over the summer, Sonora Academy experienced a fairly large staff turnover, with not only the Headmistress leaving to tend to her family, but Dylan Bailey and Erika Levy, as well as Professor Meade. Bailey and Levy had both fulfilled Head of House duties which left both Teppenpaw and Pecari without Heads. Nathan was not the most senior member of staff, and the appointment was not finalized yet, but the Headmaster had asked him - possibly due to his having been a Caelum during his own school days, which had been Salem's closest equivalent to Teppenpaw - to stand in for the Prairie Dog's Head of House for an indefinite amount of time.So as the feast concluded, the heavyset man rose from the staff table and began to gather up the handful of children who had turned yellow during the sorting ceremony. "Teppenpaw first years, please gather around me. Teppenpaw first years." He didn't call out very loudly, but he had kept track of where the children had gone so he placed himself close enough to their locations that he didn't need to speak up.
Once he had them all, he welcomed them and introduced himself. "Hello and welcome to Sonora Academy of Magic and to Teppenpaw House. You should have turned yellow when you drank the potion. Yellow and maroon are Teppenpaw's House colors. I am Nathan Xavier, the school's groundskeeper and your new Head of House." He thought it best not to confuse them by adding in his uncertainty of his position as he was fairly sure it would last at least until midterm, probably the whole year, and had the potential to be permanent. "I'll lead the way to our common room now. Please pay attention so you can find your way back here for breakfast tomorrow."
