Gray Markner's letter

To Professor K by Gray Markner's letter

Gray hadn't known how to ask her mother if she could have the little puffskein. It was afterall, a present for Merlin. And in the case of the baby, it's always the mother of the baby who should be surprised by said present. So Gray wrote to her father instead, asking his permission.

A letter came back to her, in her father's lazy scrawl (with crossouts and bad grammar galore). Gray, knowing her father was completely useless with wizarding things such as owls, knew he wouldn't have been able to send the owl to Professor K (actually, Gray was positive that if she hadn't sent the school's owl to talk to him, her father would have no way of talking to her). Gray thanked immensely that she was in Professor K's house so she could just waltz into the teacher's office and set the letter where she needed it.

Which is just what Gray tried to do.

The door was, however, locked, and Gray guessed her Head of House wasn't in her office at the moment. So Gray slipped the paper under the door and muttered a small spell to make the note go to the first visible place. Hopefully, the desk.

The note read:

Dear Miss Professor KegKije K,

It seems my daughter, Grailie Markner has been allowed to keep a puffskin poofskin puff-thing under parental permission. Seeing as my daughter has told me that these puffer things are not hurt easy and that they're not hard to feed, I allow Grailie to keep this. As long as this creature is O.K. for a baby to play with (under parent supervision, of course) since she is planning to give the puffey thing to her little brother.

Please give Grailie a letter to me confirming if it's okay. She'll make sure it reaches me.

-David Markner

Sighing, Gray walked away, hoping she would be able to give her baby brother a small gift. So he didn't have to be clueless about magic like her and her (recently discovered) half-sister, Alais.\n\n

A response by Professor K

Kiva stepped from her fireplace and quickly dusted herself off. Another trip home to see her father only to find out he was quickly slipping away. It was only a matter of time now before she would receive the inevitable floo from her mother stating that he had since passed on.

Sighing, Kiva dropped her cloak onto the back of a chair and was about to go to her desk to finish up some paperwork when she noticed a letter sitting on the chair to which she had deposited her cloak on. Frowning with curiosity, Kiva picked it up only to discover it was a letter from a parent. Or, what she hoped was a parental permission letter, though, with all the cross-outs and mistakes, Kiva thought there was more of a chance of a student pretending to be a parent.

Dear Mr. Markner,

I thank you for your permission in allowing Grail this opportunity to care for this creature. Puffskeins are very easy to care for and often the first pets magical children receive. Puffskeins are small, soft, can eat anything, and don't mind being tossed about from time to time. They are okay to be around babies just as much as a cat would be fine.

If you have any questions, feel free to write and I'll be more than happy to answer.

Sincerely,
Deputy Headmistress
Professor Kiva Kijewski

Kiva left her office and travelled the familiar route to get ahold of the puffskein given to her from Grail. Once she had been able to locate that puffskein, she returned to her office, tied both the box where the puffskein was resting in as well as the letter, to Ria. "Give these to Grail and then come back." Kiva told her cat before watching the Persian stalk off into the Aladren common room.\n\n
