Phillip is a little bit big in the ears, a touch out of shape (too much time reading and watching TV, not enough time exercising), a little bit crooked in the teeth (his dentist considered referring him to an orthodontist for braces but left it up to him and he didn't want them and his parents didn't particularly want to pay for them), more than a little bit messy in the hair (though cutting it really short helps for a little while), and otherwise pretty normal. 'Pretty normal, I guess,' were, in fact, the words he would likely chose should anyone ever asked him to describe himself in five words or less.
Preferred Classroom Seating Selection:
Phil will always take the first seat to the left of the exact center in the front row if it is available, first one to the right if it isn't, the middle front one if that isn't available either, or as close to front and center as he could manage if even his third choice was taken. He often arrives early though to ensure he gets his pick.
Phil is a comic-book geek, with a loose favoritism toward Marvel, but he also very much likes Batman. His favorite character is Marvel's Agent Phil Coulson, largely because they share very similar names.
When he really likes something, he will read anything he can get his hands on that is even tangentially related. So when he got obsessed with Thor . . . he read a lot of things related to Norse Mythology, both the original myths and other fiction works that were based on it.
Phil's parents are divorced and they have split custody. His dad is remarried but his mom is not. Phil likes his step-mom alright, but the half-sibling is a problem. She's one and she shrieks a lot and messes up his stuff if he's not careful about keeping it where she can't reach. She can be kinda cute though, and he calls her Loki because she's an agent of Chaos.
They live in Helena, Montana. Dad is in IT and works from home, though Phil knows better than to disturb him during work hours. (Loki does not, but that's why she goes to day care when Tanya, his step-mom, can't sit on her all day.) Tanya works as a physical therapist at a rehabilitation clinic in the city, but she works Tuesday to Saturday instead of Monday to Friday so some people don't need to miss work to go to their therapy. His mom is a park ranger at Glacier National Park, so she doesn't live in the city, but has a place up closer to the park.
Dad used to have primary custody, because Phil had gone to school in the city, but since going to Sonora, his time is more evenly split between both of his parents.
Dad (aka Steve), Tanya, & Loki (aka Felicity) are the muggle family he spends half of his non-Sonora time with in Helena, Montana.
Mom (aka Flo Carbondale) is the muggle family he lives with the other half of the time, in a cabin near Glacier National Park.
At Sonora, his friends are Eben, the gaming club, Xavier, and Chris. Gabriel Wilson is the big brother he never knew he wanted.
In his first year, Phil's greatest social achievement was joining the gaming club, where his Leshy hero, Groot, was unable to speak in a way most of the rest of the party could understand him. This meant Gabriel, who played the only character who could understand Groot's language, became something of a mentor to him. He also thinks quite highly of Xavier, who bonded with him over pumpkins one Herbology class, and Phil made sure not to let that connection drop. He also gets along quite well with his roommate, Eben. The ball at the end of the year made minimal impact on him, as he hung out with his friend Chris instead of bothering with a date; he was only 11 and not remotely interested in stepping into that minefield.
In his second year, he and Gabriel ran siblings together in the new campaign, cementing in Phil's mind that they were definitely friends despite the age difference. Also, Gabriel took him under his wing at the Fair to introduce him to some of the alumni he knew who were there hosting booths.
In his third year, he stopped being the Gaming Club Baby by completing the dual achievements of no longer being the youngest club member and going to Gary Harper's wedding and meeting all the alumni he'd heard so many stories about. Gabriel is definitely his big brother, because Gabriel was the one who invited him. Third year was also the year of the Challenges and Phil was incredibly lucky to get put on Gabriel's team even though they'd been warned friends and family wouldn't be put together. Their best placement was in the second challenge where they took third and earned a spot on the concert playing their junk instruments.
