Early morning by Starbuck Gregory

Starbuck Gregory ambled out of her dorm room, her short hair stuck up at odd angles. She wore a pair of green lounge pants with little brooms zooming around them, and a black wife beater t-shirt. She dragged her broom and her broom kit through the Pecari dorms and out into the Labyrinth Gardens. Stifling a yawn she found her way into a courtyard and flopped down on the ground and began working on her broom.

Starbuck knew she had to bury the hatch with Mel; it had been far too long of a fight for a stupid misunderstanding. In Star’s mind the cold war had ended, this term was Pecari’s time, they were going to win the Quidditch finals this term and the only way that was going to happen was if they were a team. She smiled as she worked on her broom; she loved early mornings like this. The Gardens were quiet and she could focus on whatever she wanted.

She was humming to herself when she heard someone walking towards her courtyard. She just kept working on her broom when she heard the footsteps stop she said. “Well good morning.” She said without looking up. “Sleep well?” She asked as she finally looked up.

Those are the best kind. by Renée Errant

In her haste, Renée had forgotten her shoes. It wasn't so much that she wanted to leave her dorm room (not that Eliza didn't make the room cold, but she honestly couldn't bring herself to be bothered by it) as much as she really really wanted to be in the Labyrinth Gardens. If nothing else about Sonora, Renée missed this place terribly. It was fortunate that her parents deemed it necessary for her education to take her around the world, as many places as they could, so Renée didn't go completely crazy without adventure. That was what the gardens represented to Renée. Everything she was, everything she wanted to be... she thought she could glimpse it all and more at each turn of the maze.

So it was with reckless speed that she had slipped out of bed, throwing on a forest green robe over her white nightgown and headed for the gardens in the early morning. Her bare feet padded across the gravel, dirt, and grass as she made her way through, looking for something but she wasn't quite sure what. She was never quite sure what she was looking for. It didn't bother her. 'I'll find it when I find it.' She enjoyed the beautiful silence of the morning, broken only by the sound of her feet, and the slight twitter of waking birds. She felt that familiar anxious feeling; when she knew that soon the morning would not only be hers. Soon, people would be out.

“Well good morning.”

Renée stopped in confusion, and then doubled back. She had just passed an entrance to a courtyard. Her eyes were still adjusting to the morning light. She rubbed them and then peered at the girl who had spoken to her. Older than second year, definitely, and appeared to be working on her broom. Interest momentarily piqued, Renée made her way toward her.

"Not really." She pushed back a brown curl behind her ear, slightly self conscious with the older girl. "I never sleep easy on the first day. I'm too excited." She smiled at her surroundings, then looked down at the girl. "Are you going to fly?" She indicated the broom. "I've never seen anyone fly here, but it must be a beautiful view. All the wonders underneath you..." Her voice trailed off, broken by the sudden yawn stretching her mouth. She turned her head away to cover her mouth with a loose fist. "Sorry, guess maybe I could have done with an hour or two more."
