Back again by Leonardo Michaels

Leo slunk carefully full the dark and deserted corridor. This was one of his favorite feelings- uncertainty. In this case, it was uncertainty over the thought of whether he'd be caught out past curfew or not. And he loved the feeling. It's what gave him the drive to make it all the way out to Labyrinth Gardens. He could only hope it was worth it.

As soon as he reached the grassy area of the Gardens (and he knew it was grassy, for his feet were bare) he knew it was definitely worth it. The sky was a deep blue that seemed darker than any black Leo'd ever seen. Stars twinkled at him, tiny specks of light that made him feel like family. Leo grabbed his wand from his pocket, muttered, "Lumos," and carefully scoped the ground. Where he was seemed clear, minus the lone cricket who was chirping away, and so he sat carefully so as to avoid squashing the noisy thing.

Breathing in the night air, Leo realized he had missed Sonora more than he thought. Midterms had been fun, and Leo had enjoyed the ski trip with his cousin, Don. Don was a cool guy, a year older than Leo, even if he was a bit violent at times. As violent as a twelve year old can be, anyways. Leo had had an otherwise pretty quiet Hanukkah. Though his grandparents had dragged him to the local synagogue.

Leo sighed as he stretched out on the grass, the gentle breezes chilling him a little. He was glad he had decided to wear his sweatshirt; the air was still a bit frozen in its Winter-to-Spring state.

He smiled. Life was good.

Welcome Back! by Tobar Brishen

Tobar was having problems sleeping and walking around the Teppenpaw commons was not tiring him out at all. He knew he shouldn’t leave the commons, but he was bored! He liked how Sonora gave him a sense of home, but being locked in a commons after a set time was rather annoying, he was used to being able to wander most of the time after dark but now he was like a caged animal. Finally he felt like he was about to lose it, and with a sigh he left the Teppenpaw commons.

It felt odd being out after curfew the school seemed a bit creepy, wit how quiet and dark it was. Yet he turned towards the Gardens, by far the gypsy’s favorite place in the school. He wondered if he could get permission to sleep out in the Labyrinth Gardens on a weekend or something. He highly doubted it but it would be worth a try. He sighed again already feeling a bit calmer as he entered the gardens. Why did the Professors have to cage them, couldn’t they have a balcony off the commons so he could get some fresh air?

He was just rounding a corner when he heard someone cast Lumos, he paused in mid-step, just his luck to go to the one place where a Professor was. Yet it was a boy’s voice that said it. “Hello?” He asked from his dark corner not wanting to expose himself just yet to the person standing there.
