Calling all Jera Valson's!! by Delany

Delany sat down on her knees on the ground. It was a bit damp and she could feel the dew soaking through the knees of her jeans. She frowned slightly and stood back up.

"The ground is a bit damp. It might be uncomfortable." She said to Jera.

She walked around in circles before she stopped, realizing she was pacing.

"You're probably still wondering how I burnt my fingers doing the Diffindo spell. You wanna hear it?" Delany asked halfway between reluctance and excitment.

She smiled once more. She felt very comfortable around Jera. She had a feeling that they would become friends very soon. Jera was very nice and honest. Delany was really excited to get to know her as a very close friend.

There's only one of me by Jera Valson

Delany talked a whole lot. It was sort of nice, because it meant Jera didn't really have to think of much to say. Silently, she followed her roommate to the gardens. Delany talked on the way, and when they got there, about the floor being damp, about a Muggle game and about burning herself in class. Maybe her talking stopped other bits of her mind from working, because she was walking in circles a whole lot, too.

If the ground was damp, they shouldn't sit on it, for sure. Jera spied a bench just round a twist from where they were. When Delany stopped speaking (possibly to pause for breath), Jera took her hand and led her round the corner of the labyrinth to that bench she'd seen on the way in. "You talk a whole lot, you know," she said, but she was smiling so Delany wouldn't be offended. "Let's sit here then you can tell me all about it." Jera settled herself onto the bench, which was nice and dry, and let go of Delany's hand.

Although she was happy to hear the story, Jera wasn't particularly keen. She had no amusing stories to tell herself, which sort of took the fun out of it. Still, she was hoping that Delany would be a good friend, so if she wanted to chat about lessons then Jera wasn't going to object.

Oh. That's good. I wouldn't want to be talking to a crowd. by Delany

Delany stood up as she looked down at the grass. Dewy. She hated getting wet. She stood up and soon Jera and grabbed her hand and led her over to a bench a few paces off.

"You talk a whole lot, you know," Jera said as they got in front of the bench.

Delany laughed and smiled. She knew that she talked alot. She just had so much go through her mind. She always had something going through her mind.

"Yeah. I gues I do." she said.

"Let's sit here then you can tell me all about it." Jera said.

Delany sat down and waited for Jera to get comfortable.

"Ok. Let's start with the charms assignment. Seamus and I sat near each other, so we decided to work together. We decided to start with small stuff. Cardboard, paper, and stuff. So when he tried it, it wasn't the best. But when I tried it was perfect. So he did it again and it was better and then we tried fabric. We threw handkercheifs intot he air and tried to hit them...but i missed." Delany started. She chuckled slightly at what happened.

"Ok. So then my spell ended up hitting the ceiling. There's still a mark. Anyway, we moved onto wood and I cut through except for a paper thin peice at the other side. So when he tried, he dented it, so he kept trying. I guess the friction built up cause the wood caught on fire. It was a small one but it was still on fire. So I licked my fingers and put out part of it, but i got burnt from the fire. And thats only ONE class!" Delany said and she waited for Jera to respond.

Lucky for you then (WotW) by Jera

Jera listened while Delany told her about the charms class incident. Then at the end she laughed; it was a funny story. Her experience of the same charms class had been far less exciting (though that may be a good thing), and all her other classes had been fairly dull, incident-wise, too. She had learnd some intersting things and made some new friends, but had no anecdote's like Delany's to share.

"My classes have been quieter," Jera replied. "They've all been okay, though. I managed not to fall off my broom in flying," she said, an achievement she was still quite proud of.

"I'm looking forward to watching a Quidditch game," she said, referring to their homework set during the flying lesson. "Pa used to watch the Quidditch games, but he says he's too busy now. Sounds like fun though, don't you think?" There would be an awful lot of people there at the Quidditch game, and that was a bit off putting. It might be okay if she had a friend to sit with her. "Do you think we can sit together for the game?" Jera asked Delany.

Once Delany had replied, she didn't have anything further to add, so Jera stopped talking. The girls sat in a companionable silence for a few seconds while Jera waited for Delany to say something else.

Yes. Luck is on my side. by Delany

Quiditch did seem fun. and yes, she couldn't wait for the first game. Even if she wasn't playing.

"That sounds like fun! Definatly, we should sit together." Delany responded.

"I mean, even if we're not playing in the game, it's still fun to watch. Are you going to try-out next year? We could do it together." Delany said.

She could probably talk about quiditch forever! She loved the game.

"I love quiditch! When I was little my dad would let me on his broom. He would hold me so I didn't fall off and then we'd chase my brother. But then we moved out of the country side and into the city and we couldn't fly anymore." Delany said.

She smiled at Jera as they sat in a comfortable silence.

"So?...Are ya' gonna' try out next year? It would be so much fun!"

Lucky you by Jera

Jera smiled - she was very pleased that Delany would like to sit with her. "We could ask Seamus, too, if you like," she suggested, "but we don't have to." She didn't want Delany to think she necessarily wanted another person to join them, but he wouldn't mind Seamus being there - he seemed friendly enough.

"I don't know about trying out," Jera said with some uncertainty. "I wasn't very good in the flying lesson, you know. I still might fall off my broom." Seeing as Jera was uncomfortable just doing the very basics of flying, she couldn't see herself signing up to play Quidditch - that required serious skill. Yet it was only the beginning of the first year; she might improve over the next few months, and Jera didn't like to say never. "We'll see how I feel closer to the summer," she said. "Do you think you'll try out?" she asked Delany. There were plenty of second years tryig out for Quidditch, or so she'd heard in the Hall at meal times, so there was no reason that Delany shouldn't try out if she wanted to. "You think you'd like playing Quidditch against the other House teams?"

That was another reason Jera was nervous about playing - even if her flying was up to scratch, in Quidditch you had to throw and catch, dodge and dive, and try and beat the other team. It all sounded so very complicated. Right now she was working on staying up right when she flew, let alone carrying a Quaffle at the same time. \r\n\r\n

I'll share if you like. by Delany

Delany could tell that Jera was a bit off on trying out for the quidditch team. But it would be so much fun for them both to do it! They'll just have to see at the end of the year. Delany had the perfect plan to pull it off just right.

"We could ask Seamus, too, if you like," she suggested, "but we don't have to."

Delany thought about it. It seemed like a good idea, but it seemed like Seamus was trying to stay low. But they could ask. Either way, she was sure they would have lots of fun. She really liked Jera. She was fun and always had somethign they could discuss, even if Delany did most of the talking.

"You think you'd like playing Quidditch against the other House teams?" Jera asked.

"Well, yeah. Who else would we play? Even though I wish we could play just for fun. Like we could jsut get some people together and play around at the pitch when there wasn't a game. Or practice." she said as she smiled.

OOC: I'm sorry if you noticed that i already posted my charms essay. If you want our characters to do that together, they still can. I'll pretend delany hadn't done it yet.
