Reunited (Tag: Adam W) by Dalila Bastet

Dalila sat at the edge of the Labyrinth gardens tapping her feet to an unheard tune and looking around for Adam to appear. She knew that the entrance to the Pecari Common room was around here, but she didn't exactly where. She hadn't had a chance to be with Adam since the summer and was no longer feigning patience about it. They were supposed to be meeting up, but Dalila didn't know whether she was early or he was late. She really need a watch.

She began twirling a finger in her loose, wavy hair. It had gotten long; she had started first year with it barely reaching her shoulders and now she could feel wisps of it on her elbows. Maybe she should cut it. Or dye it. Or do something with it. She sat lost in thought, wondering how blond streaks would look, when she heard footsteps sounding from just behind the closest hedge. Standing up from the stone bench she had been sitting on, she peeked around the hedge.

“Hey. Long time no see,” she said, walking up to him. She teetered on her toes for a second, thinking, before taking a deep breath and kissing him softly on the mouth.

“Miss me?”

And it feels so good? by Adam

Adam was lost in thought as he made his way out of the commons and into the Labyrinth. He had gotten a letter from Nicoletta. The first letter since she had written in his yearbook. Adam was troubled. Everything about Nicoletta confused him. He had thought he was over her, but he knew that when he met up with her tomorrow that all the feelings he had supressed were going to come flooding back to him.

He was almost afraid to be alone with her. Terrified that he may give in to temptation and beg to have her back. He knew their fight last year had been over something stupid. Yes, he had been annoyed that Nicoletta was accusing him of things he hadn't been doing. In fact, she was the one who had been doing it. He knew he had a right to be angry, but he also knew what he had been getting into.

But, Nicoletta wanted to talk and she had apologized. It was a big step if she was doing that. Nicoletta was the type who never apologized for anything. She was also the type to get whatever she wanted.

Adam raked his hands through his hair in frustration. Nicoletta had to confuse things. He had things good now with Dalila. She was fun, carefree. She didn't have the stupid traditional rules to follow and Adam felt comfortable with her. He didn't feel inadequate. She wasn't using him like her toy. He was always laughing with her. Sure they lacked the intense passion that Adam always felt with Nicoletta, but that was bound to happen, right?

Nicoletta was an intense girl in general. Dalila was...adorable.

"Hey. Long time no see."

Startled, Adam looked around and spotted Dalila walking towards him. He had been completely lost in thought he hadn't even noticed her. Still though, the site of her made him relax a bit. He was about to give her a greeting when her lips met his for a sweet kiss. He always enjoyed her kisses. They were always soft, always hesitant, despite the fact that they had dated for the last few weeks of summer.

He grinned when she pulled away. "Never." He joked, pulling her in for an embrace and a deeper kiss. When he pulled away from her, his expression was one of utter seriousness. It was time to talk.

"Let's walk." Adam suggested, taking Dalila's hand and steering her off into the maze. He was silent for a moment, trying to collect his thoughts. "Dalila... I have something to tell you, but you really ought to know." He began.

Well, I'm feeling pretty good about it. by Dalila

Dalila stood panting after Adam released her, a big grin on her face. She missed him. But the serious look on his face when they pulled apart caused the grin to falter. She let Adam lead her into the maze of hedges, happy to finally have some time with him, but she had barely began to form thought s on what they should talk about when Adam started up his own topic...and it didn't sound fun.

Eyes wide in a mixture of shock and curiosity, she looked at Adam, waiting for him to continue. What did he have to tell her? Why didn't he tell her before? Granted, she was a little scared of the the answers. Thoughts of what it might be kept going through her head. She had the vision of him telling her that he only went out with her as a bet, that he had found someone better in the few weeks that they'd been dating...

"Well, what's this about?" Dalila said in an oddly falsetto tone.

Let's hope it stays that way. by Adam

Adam struggled to find the words he needed to say to Dalila. He had made a promise to Nicoletta to never tell, and for whatever reason, Adam was finding it hard to break it. He owed Nicoletta nothing, but he still felt obligated to her. He didn't want anything said that could get out and somehow hurt her. It just wasn't very fair.

But, he also had an obligation to Dalila. She was his girlfriend now. She was the one he was promised to. If he kept anything a secret from her, he was no better than Nicoletta had been to him. He didn't want to be like that and he didn't want to be meeting Nicoletta in secret from Dalila. If someone saw them and Dalila didn't know then...well, Adam wouldn't blame her for thinking the worst.

"Last year, before we started talking,I was...seeing... someone." Adam said slowly. This was a lot harder than it really needed to be and Dalila was an amazing girl, but Adam just didn't know where he stood or what he wanted anymore. He loved being with both of them for very different reasons. It was unfair for all of them.

"Nicoletta Dupree." Adam blurted out. "I was dating Nicoletta Dupree in secret." Adam gave Dalila a guilty look. "She wanted to keep it like that for her reputation and I went along because, well, I liked her..." Still like her, Adam added silently to himself. He wasn't ready to admit that to Dalila just yet. "We were always fighting. In the end, Nicoletta made accusations that she shouldn't have and I ended it. It was... hard. And complicated."

Adam was silent for a moment, his face thoughtful with a hint of sadness. "She wants to talk with me and I told her I would. She wants to apologize." Adam stopped walking and faced Dalila. "I-er-I..." Adam took a deep breath. "I don't know where I stand with her anymore. I had...no, I have feelings for her, they never went away. But, I know we could never be together and, truth is, I love being with you."

He smiled at her, it wasn't his usual grand smile, but it was a genuine smile just the same. "I wanted to tell you because you deserve to know." Adam lifted a hand to her face and gently brushed some of her hair from her face, his fingers lightly trailing down her cheek as he did so. "You really are an adorable girl, Dalila," Adam's face and voice became very soft when he called her adorable. For him, that was the greatest compliment a girl should have. Adorable, to Adam, was everythinga girl should be and then some. "But, if you hate me because of all this... I'll...understand."

Hope is the thing with feathers... by Dalila

Dalila stopped to take it all in. He used to see someone. Well, that was all right. It was Nicoletta Dupree. That was just weird. Plus, wasn't she engaged? She didn't hate the girl, but she didn't like her either. She'll let that one be. Now Nicoletta wants to talk to him; Adam still has feelings for her...

Getting her thoughts together, she looked up at Adam, trying to control her breathing. She wasn't smiling anymore. It was all serious now.

"Thanks. You know, for telling me, Adam. And I really don't mind you talking to her, especially if she wants to apologize; as long as talking's all you do." At this point she managed a weak smile, but it vanished as quickly as it had come. She grabbed his hand and squeezed it.

"Tell me how it goes, k?" Dalila stepped forward and put her head on his shoulder. Her head hurt. "Adam?" she said after a moment's pause.

"This is the last of your ex-girlfriend troubles, right?"

Oh, so it's that bird flying around? by Adam

Adam was holding his breath waiting for Dalila to just explode. But it never came. She was looking at him with a face he'd never seen on her before. Maybe he had said it all too soon or said too much about it all because she wasn't talking. She looked far too serious for Adam's liking. Their relationship was never supposed to become complicated, but now the past came hurdling into the picture.

When she finally did response, Adam's first reaction was one of surprise. He thought for sure that Dalila would have been more angry with him for not telling her or for still having feelings for Nicoletta. Of course, perhaps if Adam had come right out and said he still loved Nicoletta, Adam was sure this conversation would have turned much darker than it was currently. But he had never told Nicoletta how he felt, so he wasn't going to say it to Dalila either.

"Heh, yeah, I will." Adam replied, though, if things turned out badly with Nicoletta, Adam would probably spare Dalila the details. He was really hoping that the talk between himself and his ex would lead to something more like friendship, even if it was an awkward one. It was better to have Nicoletta in his life than not at all.

His free arm went around Dalila as she laid her head on his shoulder. He really hoped this didn't linger around them. At Dalila's question, Adam couldn't help the smirk that formed, "Not even close." He stated so casually that one had to believe it was true. But then he was shaking in laughter. He couldn't help himself, he just couldn't stop laughing. Never would he have ever thought that he'd have ex-girlfriend issues.

"I'm joking, only joking." He finally said, kissing Dalila on the nose.

You saw it too? I thought I was the only one... by Dalila

Dalila looked up at him, shocked. There were more girlfriends? But then she saw him shaking in laughter and relaxed. She put on a mock look of anger, but she couldn't hold it and it became a grin.

"Adam!" she said as she playfully hit him on the chest. He kissed her on the nose and she smiled. Putting her arms around his neck, she pulled him closer until their lips met. After a few minutes, she pulled away.

"You know, I was talking to Nicoletta during the Opening Feast," Dalila started, deciding that she didn't want to mention that they had argued. "But you telling me this, makes everything make a lot more sense." Nicoletta being mad at her was because she had been with Adam. And she probably didn't like the whole pureblood thing. Maybe she should apologize.

Nah, it was totally flying around up there. by Adam

"Ow!" Adam cried out through his laughter as she hit him. "Sick man, remember? No abuse!" Adam mused, still smiling. That was one of the good things about Dalila. No matter how serious a conversation with her could be, they could easily change it around until they were laughing. He didn't have to feel the pressure of being a drone for a society he'll never belong in.

Adam didn't shy away when Dalila pulled him in for a kiss. Like he ever would. His arms went around her back and he pulled her in closer. If anyone were to walk across the two of them, he was sure they would be quite a sight. And he wouldn't have to hide any of it. They were open and free in a way he never believed he would have in a relationship.

When they pulled apart, Adam was still grinning, though this time for a different reason. He liked being like this with Dalila. She was an awesome friend, and dating her only made their relationship that much better. But when Dalila started talking, the smile slowly slipped away. "What do you mean?" He asked her curiously. As far as he was aware, there hadn't been any sort of confrontations between the two girls or any reason for Nicoletta to be aware of him and Dalila that night.

Watch out for the droppings by Dalila

Dalila began to walk, this time holding Adam's hand, but his question made her stop and turn around again.

'Oh, it was nothing. Just Nicoletta sat down near me and Lexi and Kaylie during the Feast and we all got to talking about our summers. I spent the entire conversation thinking that Nicoletta didn't like me and I couldn't figure out for the longest time why she would dislike me. I didn't do anything to her, y'know?" She paused and took a breath.

"But I guess she might not like me if she dated you before I did. If we broke up, I probably wouldn't be too happy with the girl you dated next." Dalila shrugged.

"Does that satisfy your curiosity for now?" she asked with a smile.

But, I thought it was a sign of Good Luck...or something? by Adam

Adam followed Dalila quietly waiting on an answer. But her explanation only made Adam all the more curious as to what had happened the night of the Opening Feast. He was also glad that he hadn't decided to sit with Dalila that evening if it turned out that she and Nicoletta had ended up eating together.

"Lexi and Kaylie were sitting together?" Adam asked, a look of perplexion on his face. "Isn't Kaylie Chris's ex and isn't Lexi Chris's now?" Adam paused, it was odd how much Adam suddenly had in common with the Aladren boy. Not that he would become friends with him considering how awkward it would be. Although, Adam wasn't sure how much choice he would have in the matter since Dalila and Lexi were best friends. Maybe he could make up an excuse whenver Chris was around...but he was sure that wouldn't work for very long.

When Dalila finished speaking, Adam felt both remorse and relieved. Nicoletta knew that he was with Dalila now, not having to tell her was a relief. But, he didn't want Nicoletta angry with Dalila. Dalila had nothing to do with what happened between him and Nicoletta.

"I'm sorry." Adam apologized. "I should have told you about Nicoletta sooner. Maybe it would have saved a bit of drama for you." Adam explained. "But, she didn't want anyone to know about us, so..." Adam shrugged. "Anyway, yeah, I'm good with that. Just...try not to force anything with Nicoletta, she's pretty stubborn."

I've never thought being pooped on was good luck. by Dalila

Dalila giggled. The way Adam was talking, it reminded her of the nights she and Lexi would stay up and gossip about the goings-on at Sonora.

"You got it. But we're all Tepps, so we just kinda sat together. It was only slightly awkward." Dalila grinned at him. Even with all this serious talk, she was enjoying her time with Adam. Even though Lexi was her best friend, there were just some things that she couldn't talk to her about...like Lexi, for instance.

"I think that everyone's kinda growing up. If either of them had problems, they were pretty good at hiding them...at least for the situation between Kaylie and Lexi."

Then Adam began talking about Nicoletta again. Dalila sighed. Were they back to Nicoletta again?

"Don't worry about it. Drama's just life with the dull bits cut out." Dalila grinned, but the smile disappeared when Adam told her to to push things with Nicoletta. Dalila wasn't going to 'push'. She was just going to try and be friends with Nicoletta; or at the very least, not enemies.

"I promise, I won't ruffle her feathers," Dalila said, after a moments hesitation.

I'm pretty sure it's a good sign. by Adam

"And all on the same Quidditch team." Adam added. He couldn't imagine how stifling that all had to be and Dalila was sort of in the middle. Now that he thought about it, she was forced into the middle with quite a few love triangles. Adam suddenly felt a rush of guilt. He was one of the people putting her in an awkward situation.

"Well, it's a good thing that no one said anything real nasty. Or anything nasty at all." Adam stated. He wasn't sure if he would have been so adult about it all. But, everyone always claimed girls were more mature than boys. "But, I still wouldn't ever put Lexi and Kaylie into the same room together." He was semi-joking about that. In reality, he might have wanted to actually see what would happen if someone did force the two girls into a room together. If it became physical, Adam would bet on Lexi if only because she was a Beater.

Adam smiled at Dalila. He knew her better than that. She was the sort of girl who put her mind to things and if she wanted to be friends with Nicoletta, she would go out of her way to do so. Nicoletta, however, was stubborn. If she didn't want to be friends with Dalila, she would do whatever it would take not to be friends with her. It was like to Bulls clashing horns.

"Dalila, please..." Adam said with a little plead, "If you do decide to do something, at least wait awhile after I talk with Nicoletta. I don't know how well talking with her is going to turn out and if she's really angry with me...than there will be no doubt she'll be really angry with you too. And I don't want to put you into a situation that you shouldn't need to be in."

Well, if you're sure by Dalila

A blush crept up to Dalila's cheeks. Adam had no clue about what really happened at the Opening Feast. The truth was that she was embarrassed about how everything had gone. She didn't like arguing with people. She preferred that everyone be friends.

In reality, Dalila and Nicoletta had had a severe shouting match that ended in Dalila running out of Cascade in a rage. She didn't like it all. She put on her serious face again and put her hands on either side if his face.

"Nothing until you talk to Nicoletta...I promise." Then she smiled and kissed him. This was the best part of having a boyfriend Dalila thought. Punctuating sentences with kisses.

"Haha, you're blushing!" Adam teased, though he had no idea why she was blushing. As far as he was concerned, anything that they had just done they had done enough times before for her not to be embarrassed about it. But then, they had been talking about the Open Feast and since the wagon rides always wiped Adam out enough for him to just automaically go to his dorms and sleep, that Adam was sure he had missed some sort of huge drama. Especially if it included Dalila, Nicoletta, Lexi, and Kaylie.

The difference between dating Dalila and dating Nicoletta (aside from the tension and the fights) was that they could kiss openly, they could chat openly, they could do whatever they wanted openly without worry of the consequences. Unless, of course, a Professor stumbled upon them and decided Public Displays of Affection was against the rules or something.

"Alright, come on." Adam demanded, wrapping an arm around her shoulders. "Let's go do something fun."

Dalila let out a long sigh of relief. Adam had no idea what had happened. None at all. And she planned to keep it that way until the Powers That Be say otherwise.

And then Adam wrapped his arm around her shoulder and all thought left her mind. Grinning broadly, she looked up at Adam.

"Fun. Fun sounds good. What sort of fun are we talking about? Not that it matters, really, but I like to be prepared." She wrapped her arm around the small of Adam's back and let him lead her wherever he wanted.

Surely Sure as can be. by Adam

Dalila's energy was another thing that Adam adored about her. He seemed to lack it so much so that her abundance made him feel like he had a never ending supply of it. He had picked up on it last year when they started hanging out together and playing card games, but it grew during the summer. It was pretty much everyday after the initial first that Dalila would come over and hang out with him and his mom.

When he had been bedridden, they spent all of their time in his room playing various games, chatting, or listening to music. Dalila often stayed long enough for dinner and his mom was never one to disappoint with a home cooked meal. She still refered to him as 'Whitney' with her grandmother, but Adam figured, with time, her grandmother would grow out of 'no boys allowed' and Adam would be able to visit her.

He grinned a wicked grin at her question. There were many 'fun' things the two of them could get up to, but his answer was far more innocent than his smile suggested. "We can play a game or... go eat something. I'm sort of hungry."
