What do I do? TAG: HYANA by Camren Christianson

Camren had been sitting in her Common Room reading a book on her bed when she heard a clicking on the window nearby. Camren looked up from her book and her eyes widened. It was her mother's owl...

Camren through her book down onto her bed, not bothering to mark her place and rushed to let the owl in. The letter tied to her leg was written in her sisters fast scrawl. 'What if something happened?' Camren wondered and lost her breath for a moment.

Camren shook her head to allow herself the ability to untie the letter from the owl's leg. "Thank you..." She said as she got it off. The owl flew to Nilla's cage and started chomping on the food there and Camren opened the letter from Caden.

Cam,
Momma's really sick... Auntie doesn't know what to do... Cam... I'm scared... It was a lot of blood... What if the twins don't make it??? Can you come home??? No... I'm sure you can't...
Oh Camren... What if... I can't even say it...
Write me...
~Caden

Camren ran out of her Common room after reading the letter from Caden that her mother was getting really sick. The tears flowed down her face, and she couldn't see through them. Her father had done this to her mother. Camren didn't know what to do about it. Or anything anymore, for that matter.

Camren wasn't even sure where she was going, nor did she really care as much as she thought she should. Then just as soon as she started running she stopped and the tears just fell like rain watering the ground.

'I feel like such a little kid again... I just want my momma...' Camren thought as the tears fell faster and faster into the grass. 'What if she passes away...' Camren dropped onto the ground, shaking like a leaf that fell in Fall.

OOC: How's that for a tag??

Follow your instincts by Hyana

Hyana was sitting in her common room when she got the letter. She was scared to read it. Her mom probably teased her a little, then shot her down. Bryan most likely said something about how much he missed her, which she knew was a lie. She couldn’t read it in her commons, it was just too shut in. So she decided to go into the Labyrinth Gardens to read it.

Sitting down near a random statue, she opened the letter, hands shaking a bit. She told herself to cut it out. There was no reason to be nervous about a letter.

Hyana,

We’re so glad that you have an offer. We were worried that you would have no where to go. This Josiah Ashwood sounds great. I would like to meet him. Invite him over for Fourth of July, he can stay with us for a bit. Besides, I would love to meet the young man who gave my daughter such a beautiful Christmas gift.

I miss you honey,

Bryan

Hyana re read the last sentence more than ten times. He called her daughter. What did he mean like that? He was…her dad? He and her mom got married? That couldn’t be. Hyana shook her head, refusing to believe it. She hated the man. How could he think he had a chance at replacing her father?! Angry tears began to form in her eyes, but before they could spill, she heard footsteps.

They soon stopped, and Hyana looked from behind the statue. Camren was the one who was running, and she was just standing there…sobbing. Hyana quickly rubbed her eyes, making sure she didn’t look upset at all, stuffed her letter in her pocket, and slowly went over to Camren. Her friend had collapsed on the ground, shaking horribly. Hyana remembered her midterm, and secretly wondered if that’s what she looked like.

“Camren?” she asked quietly, bending down next to her friend. “Camren, what’s wrong?” She wrapped an arm gently around her friend, and pulled Camren close. She had no idea what was wrong, but she was reminded of the times she had fallen and scraped her knee, and her older sister came and held her like this. “Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be okay.” she found herself saying. Hyana completely forgot about her problems. She just wanted to know what was wrong.

What if my instincts aren't clear? by Camren

Camren's tears fell like wildfire across the plains. She was shaking and rocking on her bottom. Cam was so worried for Caden, Mama and the twins. Camren didn't know what would happen if Mama and the twins were to leave them. Of course Cam didn't want to find that out either...

Camren was terrified that she would find out sooner or later. She hoped beyond all hopes that it was later, rather than sooner. Camren jumped a little and continued to shake when she heard her name quietly said next to her.

Camren wiped her eyes and looked at who it was that had spoken her name. It was Hyana! 'Oh good. A friend!' Camren thought. She tried hard to stop shaking by taking deep breaths as Hyana asked her what was wrong. Camren let Hyana wrap her arm around Camren and pull her close. Camren sobbed quietly into her friend's robes as Hyana spoke again.

“Whatever it is, I’m sure it’ll be okay.”

Camren felt so secure there in Hyana's arms. Just like she did in Kat's. Camren sniffled and shrugged her shoulders. "It's my Mama. My sister, Caden sent me a letter. She's bleeding... I'm so scared!"

Camren buried her head in Hyana's robes. As she was buried in her friend's robes, Camren thought of how life used to be before her father started beating on them.

"Life used to be perfect. We used to do things all together. Like a family." Camren said, as she unburied her head from the folds of Hyana's robes. "Then life was never the same again."

'What if Mama doesn't make it?' Camren thought as she bit her lip hard and tried to hold the tears inside.

Follow them blindly? by Hyana

Hyana wasn't too sure how she was supposed to act. She continued to hold Camren. It was the only thing she could do. She let her friend cry into her robes. Camren took a while to speak, but when she did, Hyana wished that she didn't at all.

"It's my Mama. My sister, Caden sent me a letter. She's bleeding... I'm so scared!" she said before burying her face into Hyana's robes. Hyana didn't know what to say. She was shocked.

"What...Camren, what do you mean?" she asked. This conversation was bringing back things Hyana was trying to hide. Things about her mother, and the car crash. Hyana let Camren speak again.

"Life used to be perfect. We used to do things all together. Like a family. Then life was never the same again." she said. Hyana nodded. "I know how you feel Camren. I do." she replied sadly. "But you have to calm down. Freaking out isn't going to make it better. Trust me, it'll just make you feel worse than thinking clearly."

Hyana gently held her friend, rocking back and forth. "I'm sure your momma's gonna make it. Don't worry." she whispered kindly. "Let's think this through. If you think about it calmly, an answer will surly come to you." she smiled kindly at Camren. "What do you think happened to her?"

I feel blind sometimes... by Camren

Camren couldn't stop shaking. It was really starting to scare her. She hadn't been this scared since the last time her father had hurt her. Hyana didn't shove her away, she just kept hold of her. When Camren was finally able to speak and she had actually heard what she herself had said she lost her breath and felt like she was paralyzed from her head to her toes. Camren stopped shaking, she stopped everything.

Her head was still buried in Hyana's robes when Hyana asked what Camren meant. Camren unburied her head and looked at Hyana. She looked like she was remembering something. Camren sniffled and grasped for Hyana's hands trying to calm herself down as well as to let Hyana know that Camren was there for her as well.

"Life used to be perfect. We used to do things all together. Like a family. Then life was never the same again." Camren said and Hyana nodded and said that she knew how Camren felt. Camren looked at Hyana curiously as Hyana said that Cam needed to calm down and that freaking out wasn't going to help her. Camren nodded to her and tried hard to calm down by taking deep breaths though she was still rocking back and forth as Hyana gently held her.

Hyana said that she was sure that Camren's mother was going to make it and that Cam shouldn't worry, and that she should think calmly about the situation. Camren nodded and Hyana asked,

"What do you think happened to her?"

Camren shrugged. "I dunno... I really don't. But what if something goes terribly wrong?" Camren started to shake again, though this time the shakes were not as strong as before. Camren looked at Hyana and wondered what she would say.

Everyone does, it's normal by Hyana

Hyana forced herself to stay calm as Camren grasped her hands. Her friend was so scared...it was terrifying Hyana herself. She wasn't sure what she could do. All she was able to do was sit there, holding Camren. She couldn't help her mother, she had no idea what she could do.

Camren nodded at her statement. The girl seemed to be calming down. Hyana knew that sooner or later, someone was going to walk by and see them, and she knew Camren wouldn't want that. Camren needed to stay calm.

"I dunno... I really don't. But what if something goes terribly wrong?" Camren said and she began shaking again. Hyana shook her head and held her friend closer.

"No no no no no no no and no." she said firmly. "Don't think like that. Nothing bad is gonna happen. Your mom is going to be just fine. She has your sister to help her. The most you can do for her is to believe in her. I'm sure your mom wouldn't be happy knowing that she's worried you. She would want you to believe in her, and continue here at Sonora like normal. That's all she'd want."

Hyana smiled at her friend. "Now, why don't we get you up on that bench and off the cold ground?" she asked kindly. Standing up, she held her hand out to Camren. "C'mon, it'll be much more comfortable there than the ground." Walking over to the bench, she didn't notice that her letter fell out of her pocket.

"Now, let's keep thinking this through." Hyana suggested. "Is there anything you know that you can tell me? Would there be a reason for this happening?"

It is? by Camren

"I dunno... I really don't. But what if something goes terribly wrong?" Camren said and she began shaking again. Hyana shook her head and held Camren closer. Camren melted into Hyana's embrace and let her hold her the way that her mother used to before she had been hurt by love.

"No no no no no no no and no."

Camren looked at Hyana. She was being so firm, yet kind. Cam was glad to have been able to meet her. Cam missed her friends from earlier this year, but she was glad to be here, and with Hyana. Hyana told her not to think the way she was and that nothing bad was going to happen. Camren nodded. "I hope you're right."

Hyana said that Caden was there to help Mama and that all Cam could do was to believe in her. Then she said that Mama wouldn't be happy if she knew that Camren was worried. Camren nodded. "You're right. But it's so hard to pretend not to be worried."

Hyana smiled at Camren and suggested that they get up onto the bench and off the ground. Hyana stood up and held her hand out to Camren. Camren took her hand and allowed Hyana to help her up. Camren followed Hyana to the bench and noticed that a peice of paper fell out of Hyana's pocket.

Camren picked it up, glanced at the words written on the page and followed Hyana to the bench all the way. Camren put the piece of paper under her robes. She would have given it back to her friend, but Hyana spoke instead.

"Now, let's keep thinking this through. Is there anything you know that you can tell me? Would there be a reason for this happening?"

Camren opened her mouth, and then closed it again. How was she going to tell her friend that her father had raped her mother and she was now pregnant with twins. Camren sighed and looked Hyana straight in the eyes.

"You have to promise me that you won't say anything to anybody about what I'm about to tell you." Camren looked at Hyana, tears brimming again in her eyes. She bit her lip and waited for Hyana to promise or not.

Yup by Hyana

"I hope you're right." Camren nodded. Hyana smiled, and said firmly, "I am right." She held Camren, still worried about her friend. This was so wrong. Cam was such a nice girl...she didn't deserve any of this.

"You don't have to pretend. Keeping your worry bottled up isn't good." Hyana said sadly. She shouldn't be giving advice when she couldn't even follow it herself. "But you can't let your worry take up your whole life."

They moved to the bench, and Camren looked uncomfortable. "You have to promise me that you won't say anything to anybody about what I'm about to tell you." She said.

Hyana bit her lip. She wasn't sure that she could keep that promise. How was she supposed to? It's like if she told someone about what happened to her at home. They'd tell. Hyana didn't want to cause trouble. She didn't want anyone to know. And she didn't want to trouble Camren by making a promise she couldn't keep. But her friend looked so desperate...so scared.

"I promise Cam." Hyana finally said. She didn't know why she promised, but Camren seemed to need to say something. "I promise. Now tell me what's up."

Re: Yup by Anonymous

Hyana smiled at Camren and spoke to her firmly again about how she was right. Camren nodded as Hyana still held her.

"You don't have to pretend. Keeping your worry bottled up isn't good."

"I know, but its so hard not to bottle it up..." Camren said with a sigh as Hyana told her that she shouldn't let her worry take up her whole life. "I know, but-" Camren said, biting her bottom lip hard.

The girls moved to the bench and Camren begged Hyana not to say anything to anyone about what Camren was going to say. Camren looked at her lap. Hidden in her robes was the letter that had fallen from Hyana's pocket and Camren looked back up at her friend.

Hyana was biting her lip. 'She bites her lip too!' Camren thought. 'Could she be abused too?' Camren wondered as she watched and waited to see what Hyana would say.

"I promise Cam. I promise. Now tell me what's up."

Camren let out a sigh of relief and she looked at Hyana right in the eyes. "My- well. He-. Ugh." Camren groaned. 'This is harder than I thought.' "I- we-." Camren shut her eyes tight and opened them again. "We've all been abused." Camren whispered to Hyana. "Please remember your promise... He just can't find us. Please!" Camren said, and bit down on her lip causing a small river of blood to form down her chin.
