Slightly tired by Paul Tarwater

Paul collapsed heavily at the base of a tree. He pulled off his coat and bunching it up, stuck it under his head. It wasn't that cold out anyway, and Paul's button up shirt was warm enough, despite it's thinness. Closing his eyes from the blinding sun, Paul tried to sleep. It would stop his annoyed, hurting, throbbing head from doing much of anything. Who knew, it may even calm him down when he woke up.

It seemed over the few months he'd been gone, Sierra had gotten even more... spoiled. At least as spoiled as one could get when you had the money they had. She was even crueler as well. She had told him horrible threats wheneven he even tried to ignore her. It made him shiver just thinking about the things she said. Not even his parents were that... cruel... about things such as Mudbloods and Muggles. Not even Paul. The little ten-year-old had more cruelty than... well... anyone he'd met.

Sure, Paul disliked Mudbloods and Muggles. Sure he was cold. But Cissy... she was a different kind of cold now. It was amazing in a way, really, the curses and hexes she'd threatened him with. He didn't believe she could really do half those things, but he didn't even want to test it because of the look in her eyes. They were the same cold icy blue, like most Tarwaters', but once again they had that cruelty. And the weird part? His parents hadn't even noticed.

Paul now wanted to be kicked out of Sonora even more. Still because of the whole too many people and the Mudblood at every turn thing, but there was something even bigger that took up most of it. He never wanted to see his sister again. She frightened him now, more than anythiing. Who knew what she'd become. He was almost desperate to get kicked out, she scared him so much. And it was odd. And he didn't like it.

But right now, Paul just wanted to sleep and escape his fears in some dream. Some nice dream in which Sierra didn't exist. And Paul almost did fall asleep and forget everything, until he heard someone coming towards him.

Oh no, he thought. He didn't want to be bothered by anyone right now. If the person came up to them he'd pretend he was sleeping, he was in no mood for a telling off. He turned on his side and tried to relax his breath. Tried to ignore the person, and the nagging fear of Cissy Tarwater. Wanted to sleep.\n\n

Full of Energy by Josh Santoro

Josh was so happy to be back at school that he was giddy with energy. The whole time during the holidays he had been stuck listening to Bella learn how to play her guitar..and nearly died because of it. Or had his brain explode. Whichever one would choose to accept. Being out of their house and away from that stringing, screeching, noise, Josh was estatic.

He had been at Sonora for half a year now and had yet to really take the time to explore it. Matt said something about doing a prank this half of the year, but Josh wanted to discover any and all passageways around the school so as to use as escape routes or hiding spots. If they knew the layout like the back of their hands (and really, who knew what the back of their hands looked like mole to freckle?), then and only then would he be willing to start on the pranks. So, when the two of them had started out through the paths together, Matt became sidetracked when he saw some housemates hanging around together and Josh left him to find his way on his own.

Josh made his way through the gardens, numerous of times he had to turn around because he ran into a dead end. But he was still enjoying himself. He made his way through another long pathway and turned sharply, his dark eyes on the path infront of him and not the objects on the ground. Had he been looking down, he would have noticed the boy laying on the ground. Josh let out a startled cry when his feet bumped into the object and set him flying to the ground. Josh landed with an 'oomph' and laid still for a moment.

Turning, Josh noticed the other boy and rolled away in surprise. At first, Josh thought he discovered a dead body, and was about to let out a terrified scream, but noticed the breathing just in time to stop himself. "You know, they have beds for that." Josh said when he was finally able to work himself up for words.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Great, another giddy one... by Paul

Had Paul not been used to pain, he would have cried out in pain when the boy tripped over him. But he was so used to Cissy and her hexes on him, he managed only a grunt of pain. Which made him very proud that he didn't start screaming and cursing. The closest thing to that was gently massaging where the bruise would probably form. After a few seconds he opened his eyes and stood up.

"You know, they have beds for that."

Paul twisted to glare at the boy for that comment, but that only hurt his side more, making him grunt again. Gently and slowly he turned to look at the boy and was able to shoot him a look. Even though it seemed stupid now after the slow process of turns and grunts.

"You know, they have eyes for that," he hissed mockingly. Standing up, still frowning. "Maybe if you use them more often, you won't cause anymore physical damage."
Paul's fingers touched the trunk of the tree and he leaned back on it, closing his eyes up to the sky so not to see the boy anymore. "What are you even doing here anyway?" he asked. It didn't come out like a hiss this time, only a low angry moan. He hoped he could be alone. Apparently not now.\n\n
