Manfred strolled slowly through the gardens, stopping every now and then and pulling out his wand. He would hold it up, stare at something in the area for a moment and then would either point the wand, muttering a few muffled words which had no obvious effect or shake his head and then put his wand back away and move on.

The pattern continued for a good hour and a half, until, quite suddenly, Manfred came to a complete stop. Crouching down he touched the ground, using his fingers to dig a small hole in the earth. He lifted his dirt encrusted fingers up and sniffed them. Perfect.

Standing up again in a sudden movement, Manfred pulled his wand out and pointed it at the hole.

"Definire caecus."

Just like with the previous spells he had cast on his round of the gardens, nothing seemed to happen. Manfred tilted his head slightly and concentrated for a second, and then, with a satisfied nod, turned and headed back towards the school.\n\n
