It's not fair! by Jennifer

Jennifer wandered blindly through the gardens, trying to get somewhere where she could be alone. Her mother's letter was fresh in her mind, and she couldn't concentrate on anything else. That one phrase kept bouncing through her mind. Never let you see your father again.

What was worse, she knew her mother could do that. And Jennifer would die if that happened. Her father was the only one who ahd ever loved her. Her father had cared for her for the first nine years of her life, when her mother hadn't wanted a child to mess up her social life. It was her father who had nursed her when she was sick, bandaged her when she was hurt, comforted her whenever something went wrong.

Her mother, on the other hand, hadn't wanted her until a year ago. Now, her mother wanted a clone. Her mother wanted Jennifer to be like her cousins, uncaring, unfeeling, the snobbisdh kind of people who will only talk to those whom they decided where equals. And that was a mighty short list.

So she couldn't give up her father, couldn't give up all the places she went. But, the question still remained. How could she stop her mother without losing her fahter and herself?\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Life is NEVER fair by Elizabeth

Elizabeth entered the gardens, her feet treading the gravel pathways that winded in the eternal garden maze. Where is she? Elizabeth's mind demanded to no one. People sure had a way of hiding themselves so that they could never be found. Yet, they always got themselves noticed by crying, or shouting angrily at things. Afterall, that's how her brother Javon had found her at six when she heard of her parent's death.

*Flashback!* Little six-year-old Elizabeth was shouting at the top of her lungs at the sky, tears streaming down her flushed and hot cheeks. Incoherent phrases like "Where are you?" and "Why did you leave me here?" were bursting at random intervals from her. Javon appeared from behind the hedge beside her, and in minutes her eleven-year-old brother had hugged her and calmed her down to a coherent level. Elizabeth vowed never to forget how valueable someone to love you was in a time of crisis.

"Jennifer?" she called out, after a few minutes of searching. "Jennifer, where are you? Please, talk to me."\n\n

That doesn't make us want it any less by Jennifer

Jennifer stopped her tears for a minute. She thought she heard someone calling her name. SHe listened closer for a second, and realized that someone was. She walked out of hte little alcove where she was sitting, and found Elizabeth standing there, apparently looking for her.

"I'm here, Liz." she replied, quietly. "I'm sorry for storming out like that. I got some bad news, that's all." Her pureblood facade was back in place. It was one of the few things she had learned from her mother that she found useful. No one could tell her emotions from looking at her. In fact, it was nearly impossible to tell that she had been crying the minute before.

SHe didn't want to burdern Liz with her troubles, but she almost wished that Liz would ask about the letter. It was always better to have someone to talk to when things went wrong, and, for Jennifer, things couldn't go much worse then they were right now.\n\n

True by Elizabeth

She saw Jennifer emerge, and true to good pureblood form, there wasn't a trace of emotion on her face. Elizabeth knew the protocol for such situations, according to purebloods; never let anyone find your emotions. Emotions give way for weaknesses, and no good pureblood lets anyone know their weaknesses.

"Oh, the family," Elizabeth said, stepping closer to Jennifer, her eyes radiating a look of empathy that could only come from someone who'd been there themselves. "The letter, it was from your family?

"Of course it was, why else would you have left? Look, Jennifer, I know how you're feeling. Lemme guess... it was your mom saying you should be more social with other good purebloods?"

Elizabeth paused for Jennifer's reply. She was usually right about these things. If it wasn't her mom, it was her father, of brothers, like Elizabeth's letter was. When the family called, disasters occured. Maybe she could help prevent as much desctruction as possible...

Re: True by Jennifer

"That's part of it," Jennifer admitted. "The whole, 'pureblood thing,' but not all of it.

"I don't know if you've ever heard of my family. The Zucherros and the Noires. There was a big story about my parents divorcing each other right after a baby, me, was born. My father took me, and my mother went back to her family in England.

"My father was never one for the big social importances. He didn't care who I hung out with, as long as I was happy. I was the only family he really had. THen, my mother decided that she wanted me to come to England.

"She decided that she wanted to make me into a perfect little pureblood girl. You know, the kind who is only good for entertaining and for marriage alliances. I was too set in my ways, and she never managed to convert me.

"Now, she's decided that, unless I can be who she wants me to be, she's never going to let me see my father agian. ANd she could do it. I can't change myself, but I couldn't live without my father. He's the only one who really loves me. Do you think you could help me somehow, Liz?" she asked, her calm facade breaking, and a tear rolling down her cheek. SHe prayed that Liz could, she didn't know what she would do if Liz wasn't able to, and her mom won. SHe would rather die then that happen.\n\n

So what are you really asking for? by Elizabeth

Elizabeth sighed. She had heard about the Zucherro/Noire story, people still talked about it today, nearly eleven years after the event. Her mother had always been the one with the hottest gossip, and the Zucherros were always on the top of the list. Their whole family had something going on at one time or another.

"I don't know what to tell you, Jennifer. Do you want me to help you be the good pureblood girl? Because I should know a lot about that kind of thing. If that's what your asking for, being a sort of... faux-supporter, I can try." her ice blue eyes flashed with eager, but not too eager, hope for Jennifer's plight. Elizabeth thought quickly that she could provide cover for Jennifer, you know, associate with her family, appeasing the Noires. Maybe it woudl work, maybe it'd go up in flames. Either way, it was worth a try. \n\n

That,, basically by Jennifer

Jennifer looked appraisingly at Liz. She didn't know whether the girl really wanted to help or not, but hse had to give it a shot.

"Basically, that. You know, be friends, help me pretend like I'm being the whole good little social pureblood. I mean, I'd be friends with you even if I didn't have the problem. I like you, but you're from one of the most important pureblood families. So my mum would be pleased.

"Plus, one of my cousins, Gareth, or Gary, Noire, is a good friend of Brett's, so he could back up that story. ANd it's crucial that I can make my mom believe that I'm trying. She said that she'd take me away from Sonora if I didn't improve."

She hoped that Liz would help her, because she wouldn't survive more then two minutes in England. She liked Sonora, she liked her friends, and the last thing that she wanted was for her to have to leave them.\n\n

Alright. by Elizabeth

She looked at Jennifer, and the familiar giggly feeling of doing something mischeivious crept up on her. Elizabeth wanted to help Jennifer, so she nodded her raven haired head, her blue eyes making sure to stay focused on Jennifer's eyes.

"I'll help you." she said, " and about Brett, if you just don't let him know you're just doing this for the sake of staying away from your mother, he'll be fine. If he finds out, though, I dont' know what he would say or do. It's best if big brother Brett doesn't find out that this is all 'under the table' social time."

She truly smiled, and hoped that Jennifer would realize that once she had given her word to be loyal to another pureblood, Elizabeth was loyal.
