Spectating. [*whispers quietly* "Go Ginger!"] by Liliana Bannister

Liliana had been debating what color to wear to the Aladren-Teppalus match. On one hand she felt she really ought to wear brown and gold, supporting her house color even when present at the other team’s match, after all she didn’t want people to catch on to the private lessons she and Ginger had been having. On the other hand, she really wanted to show the younger that though they needed to keep their meetings a secret, she wasn’t ashamed to admit that they had become friends over the course of the year. She truly did enjoy Ginger’s presence, finding the younger girl’s attitude at life fun and refreshing to be around amongst all the angst of love gone awry and the upcoming CATS and RATS that the older years were going through. Particularly she found the younger girl’s crush (and subsequent attempts at covering up said crush) on Jake Manger beyond adorable.

Eventually, she settled on a loose fitting marigold dress—it wasn’t quite Pecari colors, but it wasn’t Teppalus either—it was Teppenpaw yellow and since neither of the team’s uniforms were yellow she figured it was a good way to show support for Ginger without actually outright declaring that she was in favor of either of her rival teams. However, upon arriving at the Pitch, she found a seat closer to the Teppalus side of things and kept a broad smile on her face in case Ginger looked her way. She thought that the younger girl had really come along well in their private lessons and had joked with her at their last meeting that they would have to stop soon otherwise Liliana would be betraying her House team.

She took a notebook and quill out of her bag, preparing to take notes on the game like she always did so that later she could review them in her room and help Ginger figure out what needed fixing but also as a way for her to get to know her opposing Chasers better so the next time she was facing off them in the Keepers hoops she would have a better idea of what was coming. The weather was warm and as she began to write, she shifted in her seat, trying to find a more comfortable position under the sun. In the process of moving, she accidentally kicked the person sitting in front of her, her bag slipping forward off her lap to the floor and Liliana leaned down to collect it.

“I’m so sorry,” she said once she grasped the shoulder bag, tucking it beneath her so that it (and by extension, she) would no longer be a nuisance. “I hope I didn’t kick you too hard, it was a complete accident!”

Rooting for my...? "Go Alistair!" by Joella Curtis

Joella wasn’t sure if she should be supporting Teppalus at the match but she figured that she should want them to win even if she wasn’t romantically involved with the captain because otherwise Aladren would win the cup for what felt like would be the hundreth year running. Therefore she chose to sit closer to the Teppalus support in the spectator stands. Not wanting to look too loyal to a team that should technically still have been the enemy, she had chosen not to wear orange but instead picked out a red paisley playsuit. Therefore she wasn’t so much supporting the Teppalus team but simply her Crotalus boyfriend… if she could call him that.

It was hot out in the sun and she was almost glad that she wasn’t playing as she sipped on her cool drink, shaded by her stylish wide brimmed sunhat. The last time she’d watched Alistair play a match that she hadn’t been in, Joella had most definitely not been rooting for him specifically but instead hoping the impossible to happen and Aladren to get beaten by Alistair’s young team. Now everything had changed and she was much more concerned about his individual happiness, but still just as hopeful to see Aladren’s downfall of course.

She followed the game closely as Teppalus stole the Quaffle from Aladren possession and carried it smoothly through several passes. The third year felt a moment of doubt when Alistair looked as though he were going to pull a stunt that she would have expected of his arrogant first year self but thought he’d grown out of by now. She smiled and let out a sigh of relief when he passed the ball on in a Porskoff style that Joella doubted he’d acknowledge to not being entirely his own genius if it went smoothly.

Joella turned in surprise when someone kicked her in the back but grinned when she found her teammate Liliana Bannister sitting behind her. “It’s fine, don’t worry,” she said in response to Liliana’s apologies. “Hey, you’re taking notes?” the Pecari Chaser raised her eyebrows in surprise as she noticed the quill and notebook her classmate was using. “That’s dedication.” Seeing Liliana being constructive and taking notes on the other teams made Joella feel as though she was being far too lackadaisical about her Quidditch. She suddenly felt guilty about supporting Ali, as though she were the sort of girl to put boys before everything, when in fact there was no way she'd ever let anything get in the way of Quidditch. Liliana was the Assistant Captain this year and therefore would almost definitely be Captain next year, the last thing Joella wanted her to think was that she lacked the commitment that was required.

I think it's safe to say we both betrayed Pecari today. by Liliana

Liliana blushed slightly at Joella’s response to her note taking. “I guess,” she said with a shrug of her shoulders. She didn’t want to tell her Chaser that a large part of her note taking was going to be given to the Teppalus Keeper so that she might improve her skills. Somehow Liliana didn’t think the younger girl would take that well seeing as she was going to be up against said Keeper in the coming years, and when Adam graduated, Liliana really didn’t want to have a coup on her hands when her teammates found out that she’d been aiding the enemy. When it had started it really didn’t seem like that big of an offer, just something nice that an older, more experienced student might do for a younger student who needed help—besides now that she was a prefect it was practically her prefectly duty to help the younger students. Additionally she liked Ginger Pierce’s company and they were friends. That’s what friends did, they helped each other.

Her conscience now semi clear Liliana scooted down to sit next to Joella. She really liked the third year and thought that after Atlas, Joella might be the next person she told about her friendship with Ginger—if she ever got around to telling anyone, that was, considering Joella was sporting red and Liliana knew she and the Teppalus captain were friends. “Looks like we’re both here hoping Aladren will lose, huh?” Liliana said jokingly in reference to the red Joella was wearing and the yellow she herself was. “Anyone in specific you came out for today?”

As soon as the words left her mouth Liliana realized her mistake. Had she inadvertently alerted Joella to her friendship with Ginger by insinuating she was there to support one of the Teppenpaw players? It would have been creepy for her to be there for either of the elder Reinhardt boys and though Jake was closer in age he was not exactly her type (her mind wandered to dark auburn hair, skillful hands in the kitchen, a completely forbidden fruit who, for his part, was trying to pretend as though girls didn’t exist and, for her family’s part, would likely spark disinheritance if she were to go for him. It wasn’t the money—Liliana could live without the money, but the idea of living without her family was one she couldn’t never even fathom.) This left Ginger, and so, before Joella could even begin to figure out or assume it was more than it really was (which, in all reality, it was). Liliana smiled one of her dazzling, carefree ones—the kind she had practiced in the mirror so many times until it didn’t look forced, the kind she gave Atlas anytime he asked her if she was okay (because she wasn’t, she would never be okay where it concerned him), and said:

“Me? I’m here for Ginger Pierce, female Quidditch player solidarity and all that. Not only have we got to unit against the terrible injustices of the sexually segregated Quidditch world but also the stuffy qualities of the Aladren Keeper,” —not nearly as stuffy as some might assume, Liliana thought privately to herself as she recalled the afternoon they’d spent in MARS coupled with the ambush and coercion she had planned for later— “Besides, I’m sure they want to see Aladren win as much as we do and as much as I respect Wolseithcrafte and no matter how much I consider her to be my absolute woman crush (because her skills on the Pitch are undeniable as you can see), I also want to see her get taken down by your insufferable friend and his team—no offense meant.”

Liliana’s cheeks blushed slightly at inadvertently insulting her teammate’s friend, but she had always found Alistair Johnson to be a bit pompous in his ways—perhaps not nearly so bad as Jaime Park but…still a little too arrogant for her personal taste—though she couldn’t really talk seeing as she had participated in a bit of no strings attached fun with what was, in all likely hood, the Aladren equivalent to Alistair. As Joella responded, she glanced back at the field in time to see Arne Reinhardt flipping over and she jotted that down, anxiously watching as the Aladren Chasers got closer and closer to her pet project.

OOC: I’m assuming that if Joella & Alistair were going out people have seen them interacting and believe them to be at the very least friends. I couldn’t tell if they’re secretly dating or not though so I just have Liliana not knowing anything about their relationship beyond that of friend-status. Hope that’s okay to assume! :)
