First game, so excited! by Liliana Bannister

The morning of the first Quidditch match ever, Liliana woke up extra early, excited to support her schoolmates. She didn't really know people in either Crotalus nor Aladren and didn't feel right dressing in either color if she felt numeral. Besides, as a member of the Pecari Quidditch team, Liliana felt as though she ought to be loyal to her house and fellow players so she tied her hair back with a dark green school colored ribbon and wrapped a matching green scarf around her neck before donning a Pecari gold sweater (she hated the brown part of the house colors) heading over to the Pitch. She found a nice place in the stands up close so that she'd be able to check out the competition, and settled in for what was sure to be an exciting match. She had heard that the Aladren team was really good and so she had high expectations.

When she watched Coach Professor Olivers start the match, she let out a small sigh of sadness, missing the family Quidditch matches in England and the yummy snacks the house elves would welcome them back in with. She cheered as a young Crotalus boy that she recognized from class sent a bludger towards an older Aladren girl who nearly dodged it. She loved watching Quidditch and when she didn't care who won, it didn't matter who she cheered for just so long as the play was exciting and whenever Bludgers got involved things were sure to get exciting. She kept her eyes peeled for more Bludger action and felt that familiar feel of adreneline rush through her veins again. The crispness of the air and the overshadow from the clouds reminded her of England as did the sound of the crowd.

Her eyes followed the Crotalus boy around- she recognized him from class, yes, but also from somewhere else. She learned forward a bit and squinted, trying to remember but alas, her brain was failing her. "What is is name?" she asked herself, frowning. "C'mon, Lily, you can do it!" Even though her family members called her Lilia and she had told everyone at school her name was Liliana (which, in actuality, was her full name), she privately preferred Lily though it wasn't her favorite flower like the Lilac. "It begins with an s," she said. "It begins with an s. Oh, what is it!?" She stomped her foot with frustration, knowing that both the first and the last names started with an S and that she had met him at some point or had seen him before she had started at the American school meaning that he too was from England or perhaps a nearby country. She had already met Adam Spencer, a Chaser on her team from London and he had been quite nice. She sort of looked forward to meeting another person from the area that was perhaps her age and also shared an interest in the same things she did. Liliana was making a mental note to talk to him- perhaps in a class, when she felt a tap on her shoulder.

"Excuse me," she said politely before turning around. She wondered if the person meant to grab her attention or if it was just by accident. "May I help you?"

Care to share some of your excitement? by Atlas Primred, Pecari

Atlas had heard many of the students in his class buzzing about the first game of the year being held today. It was Crotalus vs. Aladren and was supposed to be a interesting match, although he felt bad for the people in Teppenpaw. It really was a shame, especially for the older students. Atlas made his way to the pitch just as the game was beginning. He had thought about asking Leonidas to watch the game with him, but lost his nerve. Although he did feel really lonely going to the game alone. The Captains where shaking hands as he arrived at the stands. He paused during his search for a seat to watch Coach Olivers blow a high pitched whistle that left a slight ringing in his ears and kick up the Quaffle into the air.

He watched as all the players began to fly around like seagulls chasing after a fish. There was almost too much going on at once between the Chasers, Seekers, and the Beaters for him to see what was going on. Looking around he saw a first year the girl from his house, Liliana, that had been chosen to play Keeper for the Pecari team. He made a slight sigh thinking about how horribly he had done at tryouts. Atlas was a little jealous that he wasn’t able to make the actual team and had been put in reserves, but he also had never played until that day, knew none of the rules, and had only recently learned to fly, so it was kinda a given. It was however, a little bruise on his pride, but it wasn’t her fault either.

Atlas, still not having chosen a seat, watched the game trying to keep an eye on the Quaffle. However each time he heard the *crack from the bat of a beater, his dark brown eyes tried franticly to search for the culprit and their victim. He watched as one of the Aladren girls dodged, and a boy on her team quickly countered it at a different Crotalus player, this one a chaser. Despite all that was going on, Atlas couldn’t help but notice Liliana out of the corner of his eye as she continued to cheer. He never got the opportunity to talk to her during practice. In addition he had met so many people while he was at Sonora, he couldn’t remember ever talking to her in class. There was a small part of him that felt like he really needed to talk to her, although he really couldn’t remember what for.

“It couldn’t hurt to talk to her, she is my teammate,” he told himself taking in a deep breath. He put his hands into the pockets of his brown hoodie. Although it was cold enough for him to need to wear his jeans and a scarf, at that moment he felt flushed as he nervously walked over to where she sat. He rubbed his fingers against the wand and the crimson tie bracelet from his sister he had tied around it. He had found that holding onto it gave him a little more confidence. Finally, he tapped her on her shoulder.

"Excuse me, May I help you?" she said in reply.

“…Hi,” he said smiling, ”um.. I don’t think I ever properly introduced myself to you during practice. I’m Atlas, you are Liliana right? Do you mind if I sit with you?” He was nervous being so direct with someone. Although he was a little more used to it now after having to introduce himself countless times, he still worried about making a good first impression.
