HS Vote by Selina Skies

The Head Student voting form had been both one of the easiest and hardest ever to put together. The candidates that needed excluding were very obvious—there were certain lines you didn’t cross and still end up in a position to receive endorsements and accolades from the school about your maturity and ability to be responsible. It was hard because Selina hated to be reminded of such incidents, and to have to bring them up yet again in front of all her colleagues.

Still, it was more of a passing mention than a fierce debate, as there wasn’t much division on the opinion, regardless of the levels of pity or empathy there might be for the students concerned. Selina was sure it wouldn’t come as a surprise to their peers either, when she gathered them in the hall and distributed the ballots. Luckily, it was a decent sized year group, so even without the candidates the staff had excluded, there was a reasonable number of choices.

“You are here to decide on the Head Students who will represent our school and be leaders in our student body next year,” Selina informed the fifth and sixth years. “Please remember, this is a job that involves responsibility, teamwork and communication skills. Consider carefully who you think would be the best fit for the job rather than just voting for people in your own circle.”
