(Ball planning committee) Flower frustrations
by Robyn Lundstrom
Making tissue paper flowers was easy. Having magic should have made it even easier. However, it turned out the absence of YouTube tutorials easily outweighed what Robyn could do with her wand.
"I don't know how to fix this," she admitted to her neighbour, holding up a limp, somewhat-floweresque attempt.
Nausicaa despised working with her hands. It was far below her station. Wandwork was fine though, it showed mastery over the forces of the universe. Otherwise she would not lower herself to making simple party decorations. As it was, she could use her wand to twist and fold the paper into elegant flowers and floral arrangements.
"You lack confidence and vision." Nausicaa replied to Robyn's plight. "Do not ask the paper to conform to your wishes," Nausicaa paused and flicked her wand decisively, causing the paper before her to snap into shape. "Demand that it does." She gave the girl a slight smile. "It is just an object to be used, and does not have feelings to hurt."

Nausicaa glanced at Robyn. "Let me see you do it now." She certainly wasn't going to do all of tge work by herself. "Move your want with confidence and authority. Make the spell word a command."
Was Nausicaa, like, her professor now? If so, the Aladren needed lessons from their actual professors in how to not sound so incredibly bossy whilst telling someone what to do. Robyn frowned, wondering what gave someone her own age the right to feel like they could boss her around.
Except, she knew what it was, and it was also why she couldn't back down. With Nausicaa, it was probably blood in general rather than Xavier's reputation specifically, but if Robyn didn't do this, she would 'prove' that Muggleborns were weak and incapable at magic, in spite of the fact that she easily held her own or better in every one of her classes.
She imitated Nausicaa's spell, the crisp delivery and sharp flick of the wand. The pile of tissue paper next to her snapped itself into a neat, even flower.
Which, of course, would also prove to Nausicaa that she herself was the superior one. After all she'd told Robyn how to do it.
Nausicaa nodded approvingly as Robyn. "Very good, now we will hopefully make short work of this task." Her gaze drifted lightly over the supplies that were not yet the necessary flowers needed for the ball and snapped another flower into shape. She doubted that the Lundstroms, or anyone else that willingly chose this little school in the middle of nowhere, would truly amount to much in the grand scheme of things. However, it did not hurt to encourage competence where it had the possible potential to bloom. "You do well when you set your mind to it." She gave Robyn a friendly enough smile, "All it takes is confidence."
