Clark looked at the paper in front of him and didn't know if he should be relieved that this hadn't backfired on him dramatically, pleased that his conclusions had proved correct, or absolutely furious at his dad for making such an astoundingly wrong assumption that had impacted so much of Clark's life up until now.
The results from 23AndMe laid out before him in colorful pie charts showed that he wasn't just 100% human - 50% more than Dad had ever led to believe he might be - but also 38% Estonian, 24% Scandinavian, 12% Russian, and smaller percentages of various other European ethnicities. He also had cousins and maybe even a sibling living in Estonia. He was very clearly from Eastern Europe, not outer space.
He wasn't sure how this was going to immediately impact his life, but if nothing else, he was going to let himself date properly now, and not run away when things started to get serious. That was one thing that made him lean a bit more toward 'relieved' than his other emotional options.
He did think he was going to need to have a good long talk with Dad about 'reality' and 'checking your assumptions'. Also, he was going to try to reach out to the lady who was supposedly his sister and see how that went. See if he could figure out how he came to be found on Dad's doorstep all those years ago.
