Challenge One: Results by Selina Skies

Selina had been pleased with how the first challenge had gone. The students had come up with creative and varied solutions to the more open ended elements of the task, or figured out the more specific puzzles that had been created. There had been a few tears over a boggart, which was sort of inevitable—so many dark creatures did tap into extreme feelings.

Some teams had been more active and more equal in their contributions to solving the problems than others, and that was reflected in the scores. No one had come up with any bad solutions, but some people had put more effort in than others.

It took the staff about a day to deliberate, and to check they were in agreement with how they ranked each group’s efforts. The final spread showed quite a leap from the top to the bottom—indeed, quite a leap between those in joint third place and the two teams at the top.

The notice appeared in the Cascade Hall late the following day.

’Thank you all for your impressive efforts during challenge one! Every team had some strong ideas and quick thinking.

The results are:

1. Team 6 - 30 points
2. Team 8 - 25 points
=3. Team 2 - 18 points
=3. Team 7 - 18 points
5. Team 4 - 17 points
6. Team 9 - 16 points
7. Team 3 - 14 points
=8. Team 1 - 12 points
=8. Team 5 - 12 points

OOC: Posting this before midterm, as the results would have been announced promptly. However, we can assume it's close to Midterm, if people want to save their thoughts/reactions as something to talk about in the new term.
