Posters had been displayed in all the common rooms. Reminders had been given at breakfast. Now it was time for the first concert planning meeting to take place. This was entirely voluntary, but Professor Skies had encouraged everyone to come along, even if they were just a ‘maybe’—no one would be forced to participate based on attending this meeting, but it was a good chance to see what their options were and make an informed decision. Those who wanted backstage roles were also invited to come and make themselves known, though at this stage they might not need to stay for the whole meeting.
“Welcome,” she said, once it got to five past the allotted hour and the flow of students trickling in seemed to have come to a stop. They were using the MARS music room for the meeting. Around its walls were large signs with different types of performance such as ‘dance’ ‘theater’ ‘music.’ Each one had poster paper, pens, and smaller notepads below it. In the centre of the room, where she’d gathered the students to start with, was a large assortment of cushions and beanbags for them to make themselves comfortable on whilst she talked, though that would be brief. They could then take them to whichever station they chose to work at.
“As announced via our posters, the concert this year will consist of voluntary small group or solo performances. Today is a chance to connect with others who might be interested in the same type of performance as you, and think about what you might do. Some of you may have come with a group already. That’s fine. You can either stick as your original group, or talk with others in your area to see if you might like to merge and do something together. If you’ve come with a group, please at least be open to the possibility of including others.
“If you are interested in more than one area, I would suggest that you go and sign your name on all the relevant posters, along with a brief description of what you’d like to do. You can move between discussions as you like.
“If you have a solid idea by the end of the meeting, please bring it to me for approval. Off you go.”
OOC: Welcome to the planning meeting. I've left this as an open event rather than specifying the different areas, as I figured we might end up with multiple conversations happening at each one. If you're starting a thread, please put a category that's likely to be on one of the signs. If multiple people want to work on that area, they can choose whether to join in one big thread, or start a separate thread with the same tag.
