Lightheaded Tears by Arista Rose Thornton

The last thing Arista remembered was flying on her broom and getting hit by the medium sized black ball called the Bludger. Next thing she knew everything went black and she didn't remember any more.

She woke up and felt groggy. Reaching up with her right hand she placed her hand gingerly on the large goose egg which had formed on her head. “Ouch…” She said softly in a voice that didn't even sound like her own. The red-headed twelve year old pulled her hand quickly away from her head and couldn't help but want to cry. She'd never admit it out loud, but inside she just wanted her Mommy! Tears started forming out of the corners of her eyes, but she held them in tight behind the dam which threatened to break when she heard a voice off to the side. The second year had no idea what it had said, but that wasn't her top priority.

“Addi…” She said groggily to whoever was there with her. “Want Addi…” she said before feeling lightheaded and closing her eyes again.

Arista had never felt like this before, she was the strong one, the brave one, the one who loved adventure, not the one who was scared of anything, and certainly she never acted like Addison! This was what she was doing right now. The twelve year old was acting full out like her younger sister!

“Want Addi…” she repeated to whoever was there in the room with her. Arista had no idea who that was however as her eyes were still closed.

Wipe them, please. Tears make me uncomfortable. by Luka Anastanov

Luka strode through the corridor swiftly, almost hauling the girl with him. He hadn't been to this side of the school – he was adventurous, but not the kind who'll go exploring school corridors. He had maintained a low profile all through the year so far, and didn't have to need to meet up with friends here and there.

He spent most of his time either in his dorm room, or in the Labyrinth Gardens. Not the social type, he thought of himself.

He wondered if he should ask her name, or her house, or anything at all. But they were fine without chit chat, so he refrained from it. What purpose would it serve anyway if he knew her name?

By the time they were in front of the Hospital wing, Luka halted. He turned to the girl. “Look, promise me you will not break down when you see your sister, okay? Or else, you can go on your own,” he said, in a business-like manner. He was not helping her if she was going to make a scene and earn him reprimands from the medic for bringing her in. Besides, that would only inhibit her medication.

The only patient in the room was the Quidditch player, with a large bump on her head. No, it didn't look that serious. But judging from the colour, it would be a painful healing process, he could tell. She was sitting up on her bed.

Luka went over to her bed with Hyper Girl in tow. Before the sisters might start screaming and shouting and putting up a show of emotion, he said, “Good to see that you're awake. Someone's been dying to see you.”

With that he stepped back, letting the other two have their space. They must want some privacy, and he didn't want to intrude in the family's way. But he didn't leave – not yet – the girl might faint any moment; he didn't put it past her. He would probably have to fetch the medic again, in that case.

Complete Turn Around by Addison and Arista

Addison followed Luka like a lost puppy dog up one corridor and then down another, up another and over and over again until they reached the Hospital Wing. The Boy stopped, she still hadn't known his name, and turned to her, asking her to promise not to break down when she saw her sister. If she was going to, he said, she could go in on her own.

She looked at Luka, and then down at her chunky self, then back up to him. “I'll try…” She said softly to him. “I won't make a scene.” Addison added, taking in a deep breath and letting it out slowly. Addi walked into the room, and looked around into all the empty beds until she finally found her sister, large bump on her head. The first year's large frame shook, but she held in her tears, and even her sobs. She hoped the boy was proud of her. Arista was sitting up and Addi walked slowly over to the bed, and with Arista's tears and her words, ‘Want Addi' she looked back to the boy.

He spoke to Arista, and Addi watched helplessly. Her older sister never needed HER before like that. He stepped back and Addi looked at him, almost begging him to stay. She had never seen her sister like that and she was scared, no TERRIFIED. Addi's large shaking frame looked at Luka and she mouthed to him, as she'd seen her sister's eyes were still closed. “Please stay… I've never seen her like this, she's the strong one…”

Tears fell down Arista's cheeks as she called for Addi and Addison put a shaking hand on her sisters' arm. “Ris?” she said softly as her older sister's eyes shot open.

“ADDI!” Arista shouted and fell apart. Tears fell down her cheeks at a mile a minute and she sobbed, hard.

“Ris…” she started, getting more and more worried by the minute. “Calm down…” Addison looked to the boy, eyes begging him to help her. ‘Is this what he saw from me??' she thought and wondered what she should do.

“Addi… I… just…” Arista said sobbing.

“Arista…” Addison started, not knowing what to say or do, and looking to the boy once more for help. Mouthing to him once more. “Please… help me…”

Slow down. You'll get dizzy by Luka

Luka was somehow convinced when the girl agreed not to make a scene. It isn't usually like this, he thought. He hardly ever believed anyone.

However, it wasn't this girl he was concerned about as he saw her sister's reaction. She was almost hysteric. The girl, whom he had escorted looked at him helplessly. As he backed away, she looked at him and mouthed, “Please stay… I've never seen her like this, she's the strong one…”

Luka nodded slightly and walked up beside the bed again. The place was pristine, clean and white. He could hear the Medic busy doing his work in some other part of the wing. Luka hid his smirk.

”Is he going to live?”
The hushed voice shook with tears as a guttural cry left his lips. He could hear the doctor sighing in defeat, while some bitter potion was tipped into his mouth. He could have easily opened his eyes, but he did not – for he feared he wouldn't be able to bear the image of his scarred, severed chest, wrapped in bloody gauze. His cheek burned too, but it did not bother him much. He was nauseated by the various types of pain stabbing at his body. Every breath was a task…

Luka's fingers involuntarily traced the scar on his cheek. It looked like a long, deep dimple when he smiled, but since it was of rare occurrence, it merely gave his handsome, lean face a formidable look.

Seeing that the patient had her eyes closed, Luka looked at the girl, “Don't worry. It's just the medication. Try talking to her slowly.”

Then he edged closer to the bed. As the injured second year started crying again, he gently said, “Hey, calm down. Look, your sister has been so worried about you. Why don't you tell her how you feel?”

Luka surprised himself again and again this evening. The Luka he knew was cold, impassive. Who was this boy?

Addi and Ris

Dizzy is as dizzy does by Addi and Ris

Addison had no idea what to do. The eleven year old had never before seen her older sister act like this, and she was scared. ‘Did the hit to her head change who Arista is?' she wondered as she looked at the boy for help. She had been all worked up when she'd seen Ris get hit by the bludger, but now this, this was something totally different. The first year Teppenpaw felt blank inside, like she was lost and didn't know how to get out of it! Addi felt her heart drop into the lower floors of the school as she watched Arista's reaction. The larger than average first year begged the boy to stay and seeing her pleading it seemed, he walked back up beside Arista's bed.

Meanwhile, Arista still continued to cry and call out for her sister, and Addison got even more scared. Addi felt as if she were melting into the pristine white walls with the inability to help her sister, and this was the worst thing of all. The shy first year looked to Luka for help, and though she still did not know who this boy was from a hole in the wall, she wondered what he'd be able to do not knowing either sister. The boy traced the scar on his cheek, and since she had no idea who he was she didn't deem it necessary to find out what had happened to him just yet. ‘I aughta find out who he is first…' she thought as Arista, eyes still closed cried out once more. The boy spoke to her, telling her not to worry and that she should just talk to her older sister closely and she nodded to him.

“Ris, it's me… Addi… I'm here… Please calm down…” the overweight eleven year old said softly, placing her hand on her sister's flailing arm. The boy stepped closer to the bed and spoke to Arista now too.

“Hey, calm down. Look, your sister has been so worried about you. Why don't you tell her how you feel?”

Arista opened her eyes and looked at Addison, standing there beside her bed, looking more worried than she'd ever seen her, and there was a boy she didn't know standing there with her. “Addi!” Arista cried, grabbing a hold on her sister's arm which sat on hers with her other hand. Crying hard again, but at least trying to calm down for her younger sister's sake, she looked at the boy and said. “You brought- me my-” she started, sobbing in between her sets of words. “sister.” She paused, and brought her hand from Addi's to his, which she saw through her tears. Putting her hand on his, she spoke to him, still wracked with sobs.

“Thank- you.” she looked at Addison, then back at the boy. “I'm- Arista” she pointed at Addi, “this- is- my- little- sister- Addison.” she said, feeling oddly about asking who he was, though wanting to know since he was trying to help them both. She knew she was scaring her little sister, and she knew that Addi was trying to hold it in, and be strong for her, which was odd in itself. Because of this, Arista tried even harder to calm down. She felt as if she'd been hit by a double decker bus, though she knew it was only a bludger to the head that took her out of the game. ‘The game!' she thought as she looked frantically from Addi to the boy and back again. “What- happened- at- the- game!?” she asked, trying to pull off her covers to no avail.
