Fae had been to almost all of the Quidditch games since she started at Sonora. At first, it was because she felt that she had to. It was a school sport after all and it seemed as though most of the rest of the student body enjoyed being involved. After having seen the first couple of matches, Fae was now simply horrified and intrigued by the showing. Of course, by the end of last year and the final Championship game, Fae had no understanding as to why anyone would ever want to play in such a gruesome game. There had been blood, injuries, near death experiences… Fae didn’t see the fun in it at all. And, she thought her heart would leap straight out of her chest when some of her friends were in the mix of those moments.
She knew that she would never actually play this game, but she couldn’t deny the adrenaline thrill she received from simply watching it. Of course, she never told her parents that she went to the games. They would not at all be happy about that. They wouldn’t want her to be associated with such a game. But she couldn’t help wanting to see them play. Even if it made her nervous. After seeing Arnold fall but survive, Fae had wanted to both hug him (for winning and being alive) but also smack him for getting himself into trouble. But, that was not something Fae felt comfortable doing with Arnold. She still wasn’t sure where their relationship fell. She’d like to call him a friend, but he seemed somewhat uncomfortable around her, so she doubted he felt like they had something that could be constituted as a friendship. Still, that left her without definition.
So, here she was on a nice Saturday, putting sunscreen on as she sat with the rest of the school to watch the last Quidditch game of the year. She wasn’t sure where her loyalties were. She was a Crotalus and Topher was on the team. She liked him. He was the first person she had ever met here at the school and he was always nice to her. She felt like she was obligated to root for them. But, she was whatever she was with Arnold and she kind of enjoyed her relationship with Kitty (if only because the girl was so different from her), so she felt like she should cheer for them too.
It was quite the predicament. Maybe she could cheer for both without anyone really noticing?
Fae clapped and cheered when Aladren made the first goal of the game. And then quickly quieted herself before someone noticed she was enjoying it. It probably wasn’t very ladylike for a girl to be overly excited at a ‘man’s’ sport. If the game became anything like last year’s Championship had, Fae might feel compelled to actually do what she had wanted to do last year with Arnold. There was no reason to try to kill oneself for a game.
Sitting in her seat, Fae watched the pass of the quaffle and the numerous interceptions with nervous trepidation. She was just waiting for the game to break and all hell to break loose. It was bound to happen with these two teams playing.
