Let them eat cake by Selina Skies

It wasn’t unusual for sweet treats to appear in the staffroom. It was well served by prairie elves who had long been trained in how to keep their human charges happy. Though, on this occasion, it wasn’t them who had provided the box of cupcakes - in fact, though they were neatly as pins, there was just the occasional drip down the side of a case, just the occasional lack of uniformity in the stiff peaks of icing, to suggest they had been homemade. Selina could have tidied those things up with a little magic, but there was something to be said for letting your effort show sometimes.

She had made and packaged up a full cake too, with all the preservation charms she could throw at it. Ema had always assured her it didn’t ruin the flavour at all, although she wasn’t sure whether she was just saying that to spare her feelings. It was the same chocolate buttercream cake she’d always had growing up, with her name (all three letters of it) on chocolate buttons, even though she’d gotten all big and far away. It had to be good enough, making birthday offerings by owl, and then continuing to spread the cheer to those within arm’s reach. She didn’t feel the need to announce the cupcakes, or make a big song and dance about what they were for. It was just nice to treat people and brighten up their day. Any excuse was a good excuse to put cake in a staff room. That was one solid thing she’d learnt in her teaching career. She doubted that many of the staff were keeping track enough to notice that this happened on November fifth every year.

OOC: Deliberately ambiguous as to whether Selina is still in the room or not - can be as per replier preference, should anyone choose to reply
