In the stands. GO LAURIE!!!!! by Kitty McLevy

The day was one that Kitty loved best, those cold winter days where the sky was a brilliant dazzling blue. It was one of those days that made the world feel like a picture, newly printed, untouched and untouchable. White puffs of air escaped her pink lips as she quickly darted up the stairs and into the stands wanting to get a great seat. This would be the first Quidditch game she’d ever seen being that she’d played in the other one. As the Keeper she’d mostly just watched anyway it still wouldn’t be like watching in the stands Kitty was sure.

Kitty got a great seat in the Teppenpaw section and fully intended to yell herself horse cheering for Laurie. Though it was pretty nippy outside Kitty was bundled up nicely in her new heavy jade colored cloak she’d begged her dad to get her for Christmas. It was a bit long for her tiny frame but Kitty didn’t mind because the extra material helped keep her warm. She was also wearing a bright red scarf and matching mittens her grandma had knitted for her out of puffy yarn. There was no way Laurie would be able to miss the jewel bright girl in the stands cheering him on.

Not only was Kitty here to watch the game and cheer for Laurie, but she was also going to get a good look at how both teams played and how they tended to go at the goals. That way she’d be better prepared for when Aladren faced off against the winner. She was terribly exited for that game and hoped that it would be a better match up and she’d get to play more.

When the two teams entered the field Kitty stood and waved her arms “Go LAURIE!” She shouted joyfully, excited beyond all reason at getting to watch Laurie play. He was going to do great she just knew it. After all he’d been working so hard with Preston, who she knew from their own practices was awesome.

Also in the stands...GO TEPPENPAW!!! by Jessica Applerose

Jessica was bundled up and ready to go watch her house defeat Crotalus (hopefully). She had been bummed that she'd missed Quidditch tryouts this year, but she was definitely going to prep herself for the next year. She wanted to be Seeker quite badly, and not just reserve like she'd been last year. She was decked out in red and yellow and she was excited. The cold always excited her.

She went into the Teppenpaw section and saw one of her classmates. Her face brightened, though it was already slightly pink from the biting air. "Kitty!" she called with a smile and went to stand next to her. "How are you?" she asked. "Here to watch the game, I'm guessing?" She wasn't exactly sure what house Kitty was in, but she knew it wasn't Teppenpaw. Either way, it was nice to have someone she knew here. She'd be able to make small talk and watch her team play.

"GO TEPPENPAW!!!" she shouted loudly, clapping her red mitten-covered hands. She put her hands around her mouth. "MAKE A GOAL, TEPPENPAW!" The only person that she actually knew on the team was Derry, and she knew that he flew really well from their first flying "lesson" last year. Now she'd actually get to watch him fly and beat those bludgers from the stands along with her other housemates. "Who are you here to watch?" Jessica asked Kitty breathlessly.

Yeah them too! by Kitty

As much as she loved playing, Kitty also found the rush of being part of a cheering crowd exhilarating. Being just one drop in the rain of voices made her feel like being part of something bigger, and the bigger the crowds the better. The Quidditch crowed was fairly large, and the excitement that sparked from student to student made the air vibrate with life. Kitty wiggled in her seat like an exited puppy as the game started, itching to play too instead of just watching.

Jess’s voice called her back to the real world and Kitty turned with a blinding smile as Jess took the seat next to her. “I’m great! You? Oh my gosh this is so cool!” Kitty crowed as she waved her hands encompassing the crowd, the pitch and all the players in one grand motion. Large cornflower blue eyes glittered with delight at her new friend, glad to have someone to share the fun with.

“Come on TEPPENPAW!” Kitty cheered, joining Jess as she stood, Kitty bounced, blue eyes tracking Laurie. “YAY!! Go for the goal LAURIE!” Kitty shouted jumping up and down wildly as her friend got a hold of the Quaffle. Instead of going for the goals Laurie passed it off, Kitty booed loudly when a Crotalus chaser got it instead of one of the other Teppenpaws.

“I’m watching Laurie, he’s the one who just had the Quaffle.” Kitty said happily as she pointed one mitten sheathed hand at Laurie. Two hectic splashes of red painted her cheeks from both excitement and the sharp bite of the wind. Not that the tiny girl noticed, she was far too interested in the game to care about the cold. “Are you watching someone too?” Kitty asked, curiosity flavoring the words.

Yay! Extra support! by Jess

The crowd's excitement was really making the air buzz. Kitty's excitement excited Jess more and she smiled, her blue eyes wide and taking it all in. Her eyes were on the Seekers as they soared around. "GO TEPPENPAW!" she shouted again. The people jostling her around were warming her but she could still feel the cold. She hopped from one foot to the other and rubbed her mittened hands together.

"Cool!" she said with a smile, watching Laurie for a little bit before looking at the Seekers again. She could feel her competitive spirit taking over her and she jumped up when she saw another Chaser in yellow soar to the goals. "NO!" she shouted loudly when the Keeper blocked her. "No, no, no!" She stamped her foot and sighed. "She was so close too." She was getting annoyed at these lack of goals. The game was dwindling a little and, uninterested for the timebeing, she turned to answer Kitty's question.

"Not anyone in particular," she told her. "I'm just here to support my house." She smiled brightly. "I tried out for Seeker last year but I got reserve and didn't really get to play. And I missed tryouts this year. Next year, though, I want to try again!" She saw a Beater aim a bludger at one of the Chasers and she gasped. "Watch out!" she yelled, though the roars of the crowd drowned her out. "The one thing I don't like about Quidditch are those bludgers," said Jess. "It makes it sort of exciting but scares me too." She sighed. "Do you play Quidditch?" Jess asked excitedly. Maybe she'd get someone to play with her in the MARS sports room.

Without a doubt! by Kitty

“COME ON, YOU CAN DO IT!” Kitty cheered encouragement to the yellow players, even as the ball fell into the red’s hands again. Bitterly cold wind tattered the words as they formed but that didn’t stop Kitty from hollering like a loon, loosing herself in the excitement of the game.

Bright cerulean eyes turned on Jess. “Yeah, the bludgers are like a really serious game of dodge ball you know? Its super fun though, and keeps you on your toes. Or…well, on your broom I guess. Maybe off your broom if you don’t stay on your toes?” Kitty said with a laugh as the muggle metaphor failed to accurately illustrate the thought. What sort of sayings to magic kids have that wouldn’t make sense in the muggle world? Kitty thought with a giggle, imagining referencing various magical tools and ideas in the sorts of sayings muggles have. Like: it’s a Gryphon of a different color when the wand’s in the other hand. Her Gramma always loved to mix metaphors and that was one of her favorites: It’s a horse of a different color when the shoe’s on the other foot.

“Ohh! I’m the Keeper for Aladren. It’s so much fun! But, I don’t get to play nearly as much as the chasers, or beaters. Last game I only got to stop one shot! And it wasn’t even a good one either.” Kitty added with a pout. Her voice dropping a bit at the end in a stage whisper as if she were telling some grave secret. “Seeking I think would be kinda the same, where you aren’t really in the game, but off doing your own thing. Beating looks really fun, and chasing because you get to move around and work with the other chasers all the time.”

Kitty knew that she should be grateful to have even made the team seems she was only a little first year (even littler than the others) and she’d been trying out against a boy who was also a second year. How she’d managed to get the position over him, Kitty had no idea but she was happy all the same. Better to have a boring position, than no position at all.

...though it didn't seem to help... by Jess

Jess was glad that Kitty was a Quidditch player, no matter what position she played. "Maybe we could play in the sports room sometime," she said with a smile. Hopefully next year she'd try out for the Quidditch team again. The match was becoming intense. She watched the Keepers carefully as well as the Seekers. And suddenly one of the Seekers (not the Teppenpaw) made a snatch for it. She gasped loudly. "No!" They'd lost! Aw, Teppenpaw!!!

Jess booed loudly and stamped her foot. "Darn it! We lost!" Jess sighed and shook her head. "Darn it!" She looked at Kitty. "Crotalus has a good team, but I wish we had won!" She rubbed her cold nose and sighed. "Well, I could come watch you play at your next Quidditch game." She smiled. Jess enjoyed watching Quidditch, except when her team lost. Then it wasn't much fun. Luckily she wasn't the only one cheering for Teppenpaw. "Ah, let's get out of here," she said. "It's getting really cold." She rubbed her hands together.

AWWWW…Dang it! by Kitty

“That would be loads of fun!” Kitty agreed at once. The last game hadn’t been any sort of challenge, but after watching Crotalus totally thrash Teppenpaw Kitty was starting to feel just a tiny bit worried. After all, she was just a first year and small at that. Crotalus were really good, and Kitty didn’t want to let her team down. No! My team is the best, and even if I’m not able to block everything, our chasers will keep the Quaffle away from them. Kitty thought with satisfaction. There simply wasn’t any way they could lose. Aladren would be victorious! But, it was probably a good idea to get as much practice as she could in the meantime.

Both girls turned their attention back to the game as it picked up, the players racing back and forth before the red robed Seeker snatched the snitch out of the air. “Oh no!” Kitty cried out in dismay. It would have been a blast to play against Laurie’s team. Well, this way Laurie could watch her next game, so that would be nice too.

“Yeah.” Kitty agreed as Jess told her she could come watch her game too. Her feet were really starting to get cold and Kitty shifted uncomfortably, wishing she knew how to perform warming spells. Kitty nodded in agreement and stood to follow Jess out of the stands as she daydreamed about a nice warm mug of coco.
