I am here for the groundskeeping job. by Osvaldo Alamilla

Things had certainly changed at Sonora Academy since he had been here some thirty years ago. Yet it still looked remarkably the same. The fifty-four year old adjusted his dress robes as he covered the distance to the building. He remembered the building well, after all he had an impeccable memory, and found his way to the designated office a little before the designated time. He despised tardiness.

He also was not a fan of 'groundskeeping', however since he couldn't advertise his presence by teaching. Although he would be much better suited and educated for such a position, that would cause his name to circulate much more than he would like. Being the groundskeeper would be a perfectly innocuous job. It was also allow him to work under the protections that were innately in place over the school. It also meant he didn't have to directly interact with any of the kids about the place. He chuckled just a moment when he recalled, assuming memory served him well, that the office of groundskeeper also had authority over the school's prairie elf population. That could be a most useful aspect of this job.

The wait was not long before the office door was opened and he was invited inside. He had sent the initial application as simply as a pure-blooded Mexican wizard who had come to the States and was looking for employment. He had made mention of his fastidiousness and disciplined work ethic, along with knowledge of plants and their uses. He had deliberately avoided mention of his alchemy expertise to eliminate the possibly of a teaching position being suggested. He wanted to mention his higher education, but that would necessitate listing his primary education and he wasn't sure he wanted anyone to connect him to the boy that had graduated from this school so many years ago. That may leak out as well, it was also the main reason he had taken his wife's name when they had gotten married. He was certain there was record of an Osvaldo attending here as a student, but not an Osvaldo Alamilla.

Inside the office he removed his hat and took the offered seat, smiling pleasantly at his interviewer. "Thank you for seeing me and giving me the opportunity to apply for this position." He spoke with a Spanish accent, but fluent English. He had also included that he was fluent in both English and Spanish on his application. He had, over the course of his studies also picked up Latin, German and a little Russian, but they didn't seem relevant at the moment.
