Time just for you and me by Tabitha Brooding-Hawthorne

The year had been a busy one and Tabitha was a little relieved that it was coming to a close and there was the opportunity for a break. Well, a break from classes and lesson planning and students, anyway. It was well-known that Tabitha filled her time with many things, all of which also involved her beloved wife (Tabitha could no longer imagine spending the holidays without Mary at her side). They hadn't quite finalised plans for this year yet but Tabitha was almost certain that there would be at least a couple of weeks in Greece with Darius and Evangeline and their adorable twins (though Tabitha wasn't sure if her hair would survive this visit - the twins seemed to be fond of playing with it and the playing was more... pulling).

For the moment, however, there was no need to think of Darius or Evangeline or their twins. There was no need to think of the students or classes or tomorrow's agenda. Tonight, Tabitha had planned an evening picnic, next to the fountain by which she had proposed to Mary, an event that seemed like it had only happened yesterday.

It was a warm night so Tabitha had left her blazer in their shared chambers and was dressed simply in a pair of cropped dark blue pants and a light pink short-sleeved shirt. A basket full of food hovered beside her as she walked into the heart of the Labyrinth and her left hand clutched a soft picnic blanket. Mary was going to meet her shortly, no doubt with Ailuros in tow (she had grown a lot over the year and was very rarely seen alone, settling into her role as the Brooding-Hawthorne family protector as Kneazles so often did) so that gave Tabitha time to lay everything out.

She was looking forward to spending time with her wife and had brought a bottle (truthfully, two bottles) of sweet wine and the kitchen elves had kindly prepared a basket of delicious food for them both to enjoy. It would be nice to have a simple, easy night together, talking the time away, gazing at the stars and there would, without doubt, be plenty of affection.

Tabitha took a seat on the picnic blanket, a simple heating charm making it nice and warm and waited for her wife to arrive.

I am so excited! by Mary Brooding-Hawthorne

Mary was doing the uncharacteristic thing of carrying Ailuros. Normally the kneazle would have made her own way, likely either following after the temptation of Mary's swinging braid, or leading the potions professor with an air of confidence that even the highest born students would have been jealous of. Today, though, Mary wanted the snuggles and something to occupy her hands as she made her way to the Gardens. On the bright side, Ailuros seemed to actually appreciate the attention, and Mary's contagious eagerness seemed to perk up the little fluff ball, who was purring happily.

Sharing quarters with Tabitha was an exciting bonus of being married, but it didn't actually mean there were opportunities for true quality time together. Okay, so there were probably opportunities, but there were also papers to grade, potions to test, feedback to write, potions to brew, books to cross-reference, journal entries to draw from, lessons to plan, and students to dote on. The job of a teacher was hardly a nine-to-five commitment but the job of a wife wasn't either, and sometimes one had to be put on hold for the other. Today, Mary was a wife.

She entered the Gardens and found Tabitha being Tabitha, which meant she was being perfect. Thoughtful and beautiful as ever, Tabitha was waiting for her and Mary didn't make her wait any longer.

"Hello, lovely," Mary grinned, kissing Tabitha before offering Ailuros up for the chance to enjoy a quick snuggle with Tabitha's face before putting her down on the blanket. Ailuros stretched happily and then curled up, enjoying the sun, the warming charm, and the family time, and apparently finding it suitable for a nap. "I'm glad you planned this. You're really sweet. I love you, by the way." She blushed a little and her grin didn't falter as she took a seat too, her soft yellow skirts laying out on top of her legs.
