Agnieszka Lowrski paused at the door to the Divination classroom. She checked her hair was done in its neat braid, her skirt was at the proper length, the laces of her boots were properly tied, and her shawl was arranged neatly over her shoulders.
‘Come on, I’m a Professor now. Professor with a capital P.’ she thought to herself. ‘I must make a good impression on the students. I must appear strict, but not stern, welcoming but not too lenient. Oh dear, but I was never taught in a classroom, I was always taught by tutors… But no matter what, I must try my best!’
With a last pat of her braid, Agnieszka Lowrski was shed at the doorway and Professor Lowrski entered the classroom. Seeing all eyes on her, Agnieszka nearly made a comeback, but Professor wrestled the reins of control from her.
All the students, 3rd year to 7th, who were taking her subject, were crowded in that small classroom. She had asked them all to come that first day in order to make introductions and find out where they had gotten in their studies and what she was to teach next. Oh, they all seemed to be rather amiable, well-mannered students. Hopefully there won’t be any trouble in her classes.
“Good afternoon, students. My name is Professor Agnieszka Lowrski. I have credentials from the International Board of Schooling. Prior to this, I worked as a fortune-teller for 6 months. Please, one by one, tell me your names, your year, your motivation for studying Divination and what you hope to learn from me.”
