Jackson MacKenna had been surprised when his application for Professor of Astronomy at Sonora had been successful. He was still young in his mind, only twenty-five years old, but he needed a stable job, and to be honest young astronomers couldn’t land jobs like that. He would love to still be working under Gyula Szabo and spending his nights with the other assistant researchers. Szabo was a world renowned Astronomer in both the muggle and wizarding worlds. Now he had to leave those days behind him, as he was now the legal guardian of two young wizards. Two kids that Jackson had only met a couple of times, before his sister had died. He had never said he was family oriented, he had only wanted one thing and that was to become a great astronomer, and now he was to take care of two kids.
He brushed back his blond hair as he entered the Astronomy room, he had been warned that no one had used it in sometime but he was surprised at home clean it was. He had to love those house elves; they had probably saved him a ton of time in the set up of the classroom. He would have to remember to write a thank you note, he had found out that house elves loved to be thanked. He sighed as he sat down on the floor and looked up. The ceiling would not do at all he decided and pointed his wand up at it. With a few short words the ceiling magically changed to what the heavens looked like. That would be useful in lessons.
With that Jackson stood up and smiled one part done but this desks were not conductive to learning Astronomy, they needed something comfortable. With that the desks turned to large couches and over stuffed armchairs, with tables around for books. “Much better.” He mumbled to himself, glad that the room was starting to look like his old work room had. He made his way over to the bookshelves and with a wave of his wand the books began to unpack from his trunk. Jackson made his way over to his desk. With another wave of his wand papers flew into it along with books, and other items he needed. He knew other professors might keep pictures of families on their desks but he just set out a model of all the planets.
Finally with the main room in order Jackson made his way out onto the large balcony that could easily hold fifty telescopes at one time. Each student would bring their own telescope of course, so he stacked up a bunch of stools for the students to sit on along with some fold up tables that would make it a bit easier to write on. The balcony didn’t need much work so he went back into the main room and sat down at his desk and began making lesson plans.
