Staff meeting summary [All Read] by Sadi Powell
Thanks to everyone who offerred input to the staff meeting. I've e-mailed out a full transcript for you to read at your lesire, but for your convenience I've summarised the main points.- I'm probably looking for a new Deputy Head of Sonora. If you're interested, please send me an e-mail. Thanks.
- History of magic is closed for the time being (IC Henry Flatt is ill for the rest of the term - if I don't hear from the author by the end of term he will retire). Electives will be offerred again next term.
- Candidates on the voting forms for Head Boy are Oliver Abbott, Talen Dupree and Jaeven Dimitri, and for Head Girl are Hannah Laurent, Lutece Anthony and Talitha Cumni.
- Prefects are still undecided. There is a note on the OOC to encourage active fourth years to make themselves known.
- Misummer Ball now has a theme: famous historical witches and wizards. We discussed potential of having 5 Ladies/Gentlemen (in lieu of prom king/queen) - no decision was reached about whether to go ahead with this, and if we do, how.
- Cleo and Aaron will be accompanying Rowan to the dragon ranch for advanced CoMC. Aaron will be running apparition lessons for sixth and seventh years. Jacob and Amelia will be ru ning optional dance lessons for anyone interested in taking them.
- Intermediate classes will largely be replaced by a 3rd - 5th year team building event to encourage posting from these characters. Proposed are three activities: orienteering (run by May), first aid (Cleo) and cookery (Sadi). Students will be in teams of 3. We discussed the possibility of offering a prize for the 'winning' team (those with most points awarded). Comments and suggestions are very welcome.
- Quidditch assistant captains needed for next term. Potential of asking Captains to nominate an assistant, otherwise is in capable hands of the Coach.
- Advertising. Please start once term resumes. Everyone to take part. All staff members now required to have at least one student character at the site (effective from new term).
- New schedule posted.

Looks like you guys did well. I don't disagree with anything going on (though people - what was with Cissy Tarwater getting so many votes for Head Girl nomination? Do you know how *bad* that would have been if she made it?).Anyway, additional thoughts...
Prefects: I don't think ignoring the year is really going to work, and giving Aladren three new prefects doesn't really help the Pecaris and Teppenpaws who wouldn't have any, so I think we should still go one per house. What we might have to do is grab another kid from either the current fifth and sixth years (or possibly even the current third year) to keep each house at three Prefects.
Holly's going to kill me for saying this but the 5 Ladies/Gentlemen would probably work better with a theme that wasn't historical witches/wizards. (Theme idea is excellent, by the way!) We could maybe go for a Merlin and Morgana Le Fey and maybe a 'court' of a few other particularly notable witches and wizards, but with the Head Boy/Girl and the prefects already leading the dance off, and the issue of another nomination/voting process that needs to get done, I'm not sure it's worth it.
New Assistant Captains: I figure I'll have a sit-down IC meeting with each of next year's new captains sometime at the end of the year to get their input on who they want as their assistant, and officially assign one to them by the time they leave if they don't have a preference.

On the topic of prefects, I agree that it wouldn't really work to leave Pecari or Teppenpaw without the recommended three prefects. Getting another student from a different year could work for that year, especially if there are enough active people to do that with.I also agree with the theme. To be honest, I'm not too keen on it. Maybe we could still go with historical, but maybe open it up to something like Famous Couples since most people tend to find a date or at least a group of friends. Thinking Never Been Kissed here like the one group of friends went as a Double Helix, but most went as like Romeo and Juliet, Ken and Barbie, etc. This would open up the options a bit more. Just a thought.
Also, the idea of announcing Merlin and Morgan Le Fey is vastly amusing and I like it for a wizarding equivalent.

I'm really sorry I didn't get to the meeting. You're right, I didn't know there was one (computer problems...), and I wasn't even at home when I got the text. So...input!-I love the Theme, I really do, but I agree that it may need tweaking.
-I love the 3-5 year idea, to get them posting, since one of my characters is among them. I'll happily do that activity. I just may need a bit more of an explanation as to what it is.
-Why was Ms. Tarwater getting so many nominations?! Even I understand how bad of an idea that is!
-I think everything else sounds good to me. The computer problems seem to be under control again on my end. So I should definitely be around a lot more!
