Selina hoped she hadn't ruined any holidays but advanced students had a lot to do, and had to be dedicated to their subjects. The presentations were due at the start of the second week of term, so she supposed anyone who was very much opposed to working over the festive season could have put it off until their first week back. She would not have recommended it though.

Today, each student was due to give a presentation on a 'Controversy in Transfiguration.' She had left the area deliberately vague and open to a large amount of interpretation – students could present work on an area that was contested between Charms and Transfiguration, or on something that caused ethical dilemmas, such as the human transfiguration they had studied recently. She hoped the topic was wide enough that everyone could find something to interest them. To be honest, if the 'controversy' was a mere footnote, she would have been fine with it, so long as it was about Transfiguration and was detailed enough.

“Good afternoon,” she greeted them, wondering how many had used their lunch breaks to nervously run through their presentations or prime their friends with the questions they wanted to be asked.

“As you have hopefully remembered, today is the day of your presentations. You will deliver them to the class and then your peers will have a chance to ask you questions,” this was all familiar information as the format of the presentations had been detailed when they had been assigned, and in several classes since where they had come up. “Should they fail to think of anything they wish to know, you can be sure that I'll find something – so, be kind, be engaged and ask questions of your peers to save them from my enquiries. Then hopefully they will do the same for you,” she smiled. She couldn't really believe that anyone in her advanced class would find her intimidating or really quail at the thought of her choosing questions for them. She could be firm and tolerated no nonsense, and now she was the deputy head but she liked to think of herself as kind and approachable. She was sure she'd never given anyone a reason to be scared of her and, by the time students got to this age, they were presumably engaging with the subject because of a genuine love of it. Having a passion for someone's subject always helped to break down the barriers of rank and age, she felt.

“May I have a volunteer to go first?” she asked.

OOC – Once again, I am trying out a slightly different format for this class. Your character should give the presentation they have prepared on the topic mentioned. Obviously, you do not need to write out everything they say, though you should give a general impression of what they have covered, so that people can reply with appropriate questions (which I hope they will!)
