Teppenpaw Quidditch Try-Outs by Hannah Laurent, Captain

As seemed to be becoming a tradition with the start of term, Hannah was worried about getting enough people for the Teppenpaw team, though, thankfully, first years were allowed. If they weren’t like they hadn’t been in a couple previous years, she didn’t know what she would have done other than to go around the House pleading for members. She had to wonder if part of the reason that Teppenpaw had such a hard time feeling the roster was because they were all too nice to consider a sport that at times was just brutal. Maybe it made her a bit of a freak to love the sport so much that she wanted to play professionally and yet she was a Teppenpaw through and through.

Regardless of her status or the status of her team, which when she had last checked still wasn’t full, she was going to do her best. After all, she was Captain. The choice of Assistants, however, she could have done without. Lucie Dupree had been a thorn in her side since she had learned that she was related to the Duprees. She wasn’t even sure that the other girl knew that they were related, but whatever. It didn’t change matters either way. Maybe if she had never heard of them, never met them, never knew, then things would be better and Addie would be less…weird. Maybe she would actually care about things that mattered rather than that silly group – Witches of the Court or whatever it was.

Hannah glared at the other girl for a moment. There was no way she was going to let Lucie Dupree take away her team. With her hands still on her hips, she addressed those that were there. “Welcome everyone to Teppenpaw’s Quidditch Team Tryouts. I’m the Captain, Hannah Laurent, and this is my Assistant, Lucie Dupree.” The mere name made her want to gag, but she choked it down and went on, “Returning to the team are Gabrielle DiCarlo,” she gestured to a pretty seventh year, “and Josiah Ashwood,” and one to the red-haired boy. With these, she also had to announce which spots were open. “We have one Chaser spot, one Beater spot, and the Keeper spot available.”

Though, Josiah had signed up for Beater or Keeper, she much preferred him in the Beater spot since he was older and much more experienced. She didn’t think it would have been a good idea to have two newbies in such aggressive spots. She would probably be in real trouble if there were any serious injury. Hmmm, maybe she should consider asking one of the other Chasers to take the spot? She guessed she would have to base it on today’s performance. “All right, since we have so few participants, we’re just going to run drills.”

“For this exercise, I want Tobar and Andrew to play Chaser. Gabrielle, you can work with them. Lucie, play Keeper for now. Now, the point of the game is to work on passing. Don’t be ball hogs. This is a team and you need to show that no matter how good you think you are, you can work in a group. Together, you’ll be working on scoring against Lucie. And to make things a little more interesting, you’ll be dodging these.” She pulled a carton of eggs, which she had done some bribing for, out of her bag. “Here, Josiah, you’ll be needing these.” With that, she sent them off for the first round. While the eggs might have been in good fun, they also served the purpose to see how well they could dodge while handling the quaffle, a very important part of being Chaser.

OOC: All posting rules apply meaning posts should be at least a minimum of ten sentences and well written (no major spelling or grammatical errors). Be creative and have fun! If there are any walk-ons, just assume that Hannah had the character trying out for Chaser (unless they’re waiting for one of the other positions), so feel free to jump in.

Chasers are cool! by Tobar Brishen

Tobar was excited it was Quidditch try out day and though he wasn’t the greatest player ever he was a good enough one to hopefully make the team. He braided his shoulder length black hair tightly so it wouldn’t get in the way. He wore a maroon t-shirt to show his support for Teppenpaw and black pants, sadly he didn’t have any yellow pants but he figured one color was better then no colors.

He carried his broom out to the Quidditch Pitch and smiled at the others who he hoped would be his team mates. He laughed as Hannah pulled out the carton of eggs that would make things interesting. He got on his broom and kicked off soaring into the air, he hadn’t realized he was the first up until he noticed the quaffle was tucked under his arm. ‘Excellent’ He thought for a moment and began to fly. He felt an egg splatter all over his t-shirt and he laughed. He was going to have to step up his game.

He flew in a zigzag way dodging as many eggs as he could but he still ended up getting hit a couple of times. After a few moments he looked around and saw that he had no where to go and remembering what Hannah had said he tossed the quaffle over to the next person. He flew down and around the person with the eggs and came up waiting to see what else what happened.

Up, up and away by Andrew Duell

Andrew casually carried his broom out to the Quidditch pitch. Well, it wasn't actually his broom, it was his mother's but she gave it to him to use for the school year. It was an older broom, but at least he had one of his own this year. The school brooms were alright, but it was nice to have his own.

He listened to Hannah's opening speech, and glanced a little uncertainly at the eggs. His flying was never great, trying it while carrying a ball and dodging eggs? This should prove interesting. Andrew kicked off after Tobar and looped around the pitch, trying to get his 'flying legs' back after the summer.

Soon enough he was ready for flying though the egg storm, he waved at Tobar and the quaffle came his way. He missed the toss, and swung down into a dive and caught it. He also managed to get pelted by many eggs on the way. Pulling out of his dive, Andrew shot for the goals and tried to get one past Lucie.
