A Modest Proposal, though not in Swift's style. tag-Coach by Ronen Cooper

At first, Ronen thought having Hannah in the same house as him would be a good thing. His cousin was cool, and when he said cool, he meant not-girly. But the problem with not-girly cousins was that they often had a thing for sports. That in itself wouldn’t have been a problem, Ronen thought sports were pretty cool himself. The problem was that his cousin was an outright fanatic, and was badgering him to tryout for the Quidditch team, and she wouldn’t take no for an answer. She’d rather see him embarrass himself in front of everyone with his clumsiness. He’d go from being voted Most Popular to Most Clumsy in the time it took Plumpton to catch the snitch in 1921. The façade he’d worked all of last year to create, the appearance of being cool and having things totally under control – would totally fade away. And then people would tease him for what he really was – a clumsy little nerd who studied when he thought nobody was looking.

So he needed to come up with an excuse. A reason for not being busy during every Quidditch game, and he’d thought of one. He only needed to go see the Quiidtch coach to see if it was possible to become Sonora’s new Quidditch announcer. He was certainly cut out for the job. He could put to use all of the random Quidditch knowledge he had garnered from the books he read, and he certainly wasn’t afraid of talking in front of people. Not only was this a great way of avoiding looking like an idiot, people might think he was cooler for it. And it could be fun, too.

Feeling very enthusiastic about getting this over with before Hannah decided to sign him up for Quidditch tryouts herself, Ronen went down to the Pitch two weeks into to school year, certain he could find the Coach. Trying fruitlessly to straighten out his new school robes, he smiled nervously as he stumbled onto the field. Hoping that nobody had seen that, he found the Coach doing something on the field. The dark-haired boy gulped, and then approached.

"Good afternoon Coach," he exclaimed in his practiced cool-yet-friendly tone, "I just had a question I wanted to ask you, if you don't mind."
