Amelle couldn’t wait to see her friends that Saturday and more importantly, she couldn’t wait to spend time with Rory and see how he gets on with her more life loving friends. They were coming to Phoenix to put on a show and were eager to see Amelle. Since she hadn’t gone down to New Orleans during her time off for as long as she usually did because of her trip with Rory, so they were eager to meet the man that had stolen their friend away.She just wasn’t sure if Rory was ready for that step yet in their relationship. They were only her friends and not family, but meeting friends (especially ones that meant the world to her) could be a big deal depending on whether or not they liked one another. She couldn’t find a flaw with Rory (really, he was utterly perfect in every way) so she was certain that her friends would love him too. She just wasn’t sure how Rory would like her friends.
They were from magical families as she met them while at University the first time around but they were musicians. They lived their lives traveling the country and living sort of wild lives. They stayed in New Orleans during the summers so that Amelle could be with them and enjoy the Jazz life, but they weren’t typical magical folks. Amelle knew that sometimes that was a little hard to swallow, especially from Purebloods. Honestly, if Amelle enjoyed travelling and living off of basically nothing, she would have joined them. But she preferred the easy life and found herself a normal job. Still, she did enjoy performing with them during the summers.
She only hoped that since Rory understood the nomadic lifestyle that he would really click with her friends. She knew Rory was busy with lessons that day, so she sent him an owl to entice him along.

My friends will be in Phoenix this Saturday to perform at Rhythm Room and they have invited us to come and see them perform. What do you say? I would love to have you meet them and have a date night for us in the city? Let me know how you feel about it!

A Professor with an Owl by Rory Taransay
Rory was sitting in his classroom, enjoying a break between classes. He’d taken off his robe, leaving him in trousers and a shirt, sleeves rolled up to his elbows. He generally dressed smartly around the students, but a break was a break, after all, and his classroom was a little warm that day. The window was therefore open, letting in a nice cooling breeze (okay, some may consider it rather chilly, but Rory liked the outdoors, and had grown up in Scotland!). His eyes were slowly closing when he was jerked back to full consciousness by an owl flying in through his window.He took possession of the letter, then opened his desk to find something owl-appropriate (his desk drawer was filled with all sorts of creature-related objects, and he was reminded that he really ought to sort it out at some point). He fed the treat to the owl, and gave it a pat. He liked owls, although that was hardly surprising.
He glanced first at the signature on the letter, an involuntary smile coming to his face when he saw Amelle’s name. Then he looked up to the top, and the smile turned into a grin, accompanied by an eyebrow wiggle. It wasn’t every day you got a letter that started with “Hello Sexy”!
Reading through the rest of the letter, he could remember Amelle mentioning these friends before. It would be nice to get the chance to meet them, and he was always up for going to a gig.
My dearest Amelle,
That sounds like a great idea - count me in! I’m excited to meet some of these friends of yours, although are you sure you’d rather not keep me hidden a little while longer? Surely you don’t want them to know you like to spend your time with a man who has a strange obsession with dragging you around the world to see animals?!
Seriously though, I’m really looking forward to it.

All his joking aside, Rory was happy that he was getting to see more of Amelle’s life besides Sonora. Her suggestion that he meet her friends was another indication that they were on the same page in terms of their relationship, and hopefully this meant she would be fine with meeting his family, when he inevitably suggested it. Orla, his sister, had told him that she expected to be introduced to Amelle soon, and even his mother had been dropping hints that she’d like to meet Rory’s girlfriend.
He folded up the letter, and gave it to the owl, who had been patiently waiting. It amused him that Amelle had chosen to send him a letter, rather than catching him after class, but he had to admit that the letter had brightened up his day.
