It's been a bit quiet lately. A lot of people seem crazy busy in RL, and whilst we understand that, we wanted to get the second half of the term off to a good start. So, we came up with an incentives to try to get everyone going to the Returning Feast, but also to make sure threads get replies, as it's been noted in chatzy that it's disappointing when threads fizzle out too fast.
So, we are offering:
2 house points for the initial post of each character 5 house points for each person involved in a thread of 5 or more exchanges. 10 points for the thread with the post exchanges, two weeks after the feast is posted
There may be other points awarded as spot prizes if we see something stand out that we think deserves a reward. Let's get cracking on term 2!
Just trying to give a heads up to those who don't stop by chatzy much that there is currently a poll regarding how Quidditch will run for the rest of the term. We also need to finalise details of the concert and this may also be done by chatzy poll. There is often a poll running, as we try to bring everyone's opinion in on how things should be run, so please try to stop by from time to time if you want to be involved in decision making.
Thanks

Advertising season is upon us once again! So, here is how to spread the word about Sonora.
We do most of our advertising through fanfiction.net, though obviously if you are part of other communities who are happy for you to advertise there, or have any friends you think would be interested, explore those avenues too.
Reviews MUST:
- Be on good quality stories. If they are riddled with grammar errors or unrealistic characters, move on
- Contain feedback on the story. No one wants to be spammed with adverts that make them feel like you didn't even read what they'd written, so before plugging Sonora, be sure to talk about the story. At the very least, mention specific things you enjoyed about it (detailed descriptions, good characterisation etc). If there is anything you didn't like, mention this too in the form of constructive criticism. I received a PM back from an author the other day thanking me for leaving this kind of review (including criticisms) rather than making a bland comment like 'Great job.'
- Advertise Sonora! Give a brief explanation of the site and the address, with a break in it to get through ff's filtering systems. I usually go with 'I'm from a creative writing RPG which involves all original characters and I feel you'd fit in well. Our applications are currently open or you can play on our 'sandbox' page to get a feel for it. It's sonora. terragenaonline. net (without the space) and I hope you'll check us out. Please message me if you have any questions.'
Obviously, the last it only applies if you have an ff account, which brings me onto...
Things to consider:
- We don't insist on you having an ff.net acount to review. However, I have found authors often message me with further questions about the site, and it can be useful for them to have a personal contact to talk it through with
- Consider searching for fics with OCs (original characters) as these people are already stepping slightly further away from the core HP-verse and thus might be more interested in a site like Sonora
When you have done reviews, add them to the counter to the top of the page. It can't do maths, so put in the UPDATED TOTAL. E.g. if it says '5' and you've done 3, enter '8.'
It really only takes a few reviews from each author and then it all adds up!
You have until July 21st, at which point the concert will be posted, to work out what you're doing. IC, you have to submit this to Selina. OOC, it would be helpful to know which clubs are doing performances and which are providing other things, but it's not essential so long as you all know what you're doing.
We'll do some kind of sporty thing. Probably exhibition-ish like the Dueling Club is doing, but where they're doing a couple mock-duels, we're going to showcase all the different sports we play, so it's not so much live sports as highlight clips that we recorded during club meetings and maybe a few people on stage tossing around balls during transitions or something.
For this to work, I assume Wizards have some kind of video recording technology/spell.
The orchestra will perform some of the pieces they've been working on throughout the year. Would it also be possible for individuals to perform, if they want to?
Just seen the Cascade Hall post and read that there will be slots for other performances. Orchestra members: Louis is happy to help with/accompany performances if wanted!
