Detention #1: Why Me? by Amy Fox

It amazed Amy that students could rack up a number of detentions before the first week of classes had even ended. Frowning at the backs of her students as they departed her pitch, she sighed heavilly. Her work was yet finished. Oh no, she still had to deal with the two trouble makers from a few days before. Pinching the bridge of her nose, Amy turned to face the pair, sizing them up.

It was better to just get this over and done with, she decided. Dropping her hands to her sides, Amy inhaled deeply before starting, "Alright," she began matter-of-factly. "It seems that I'm going to have to deal with the two of you for the next two Saturdays. That being said, we might as well just cut straight to the point. Follow me," she said, turning and stomping away, expecting the pair to follow.

"Wait," she said, stopping short and turning to face the pair once more, "grab those brooms first, before you come." She motioned to the pile of brooms that the students had built at the end of class. "And be quick about it too, I'm sure you don't want to be here all day- and I certainly don't want you here that long either."

Turning swiftly on her heel, Amy began to stomp away once more, her bag of gear rising smoothly in the air behind her and following as she cut her way toward the shed. Reaching the shed first, she tapped her foot impatiently on the ground, waiting for Ashwood and Kamiya-- why did people insist on having confusing names that were difficult to pronounce?-- to catch up.

When the pair had finally reached the shed, Amy threw open the door to the storage room. "Just drop those there," she said, motioning to the side of the shed, "but be sure to be careful. I don't want you damaging those broomsThe room was hot and muggy, filled with a mixture of scents: dust, dirt, wood, grass, sweat...Quidditch. Nostalgia swept through her and she briefly smiled. Stepping into the room, her bag swiftly following, Amy stepped to the side, allowing the pair to enter.

The room was disordered, having been left as such following the championship game the previous year. Nothing was in its place, things were messy...and it was getting on Amy's nerves. She had planned to take on the job herself, but seeing as she had a pair of unwilling victims, she figured she'd throw it on them instead.

With a great sweep of her arm, she presented the darkened room to them mockingly. "This will be your kingdom for the day." Flicking her wand, the lights came on, flickering dimly. "If you want more light, wipe off the windows and more will come in. If you want air conditioning, open the windows or fan each other with whatever you can find. I expect that this job will take you both days," she said pointedly. "Don't go throwing things around and hiding things, expecting that I won't find it. I will."

Letting her bag drop to the ground, Amy walked into the center of the room. "I want everything separated, wiped down and then placed visibly in an easily accessible location. Each broom will need to be wiped down and that is all. I will handle the upkeep of the brooms by myself as I don't want you damaging them. I do want them separated and then placed in their specific racks." Amy motioned toward the back wall which was lined with places to store the brooms.

"The gear will need to be cleaned as well. If it is leather, I want you to take that," she said, motioning toward the pile of rags and oil, "and work the leather until it is functional again. The players without gear will be using this and I want it in top condition. The leather gear needs to be kept away from the windows as there is a chance that water may break through the spells and damage the gear."

She then looked pointedly at the pair. "I want you to stay away from the Quidditch balls. Do you hear me? You better not open those trunks. I'm not kidding. I don't want this shed and everything in it damaged because you thought it would be fun to let a pair of Bludgers free. And- I don't want to have to go searching for that blasted Snitch. Those--" She pointed toward the trunks that were stacked in the corner. "--are off limits."

"Finally," she said, pushing her sleeves up to her elbows, "I want you to sort through the practice balls. If any of them seems flat, I need you to put them in a pile and I will fix the spell on them." Running a hand through her hair, she moved back toward the doorway, her bag rising in the air once more. "If you screw something up, I will know and I won't be happy about it. Don't cut any corners just to get out of here faster because I will know.

"I will be just through the door in the front of the building, that's my office. If you need me, shout really, really loud or bang on my door and I'll come. That being said, have fun. And don't fool around."

With that, Amy turned on her heel and marched through the doorway, leaving the pair to their own devices.

oh great...what fun! *sarcastic cheer* by Josiah

OOC: I will be sure to, why don't you pay Wolfe a nice little visit while you wait for us to finish? :D... *sticks tounge out*

IC: Josiah glumly carried the brooms, making sure to keep his slung over his shoulder using the straps he had made himself. He set them down softly, yet wishing with all his might he could throw them down and stomp on them multiple times to spite the woman. Honestly, he had said it was all his fault, why didn't she leave Hyana out of this? It wasn't fair to her!

He listened intently to her every words. Gosh, if she was so much of a control freak, she could do it herself! And she was so sympathetic! Honestly, he'd rather spend time with a dragon who's foot had a thorn in it. Maybe it'd be nicer.

He waited until the Quidditch coach was well out of hearing range before talking to Hyana. He took a cleaning rag and began to wipe the leather gear in with oil. "Hyana, sit. You don't deserve this, you don't need to do it. It's my fault you're in this mess, I won't have you taking my punishment. Just relax, I'll handle it. If you're careful, you could sneak on back to Alardren and she won't even notice, I'll have this at least half done by the time she wants us to leave. I can get those brooms wiped down and hung up neatly in ten minutes or less. So sit, or go to your commons, okay?"

He looked at her with an I-mean-it look. He turned back to the leather gloves he was oiling. When he was done with them, he went to the next pair. He pointedly averted his gaze so that she couldn't think he was watching her to see if she'd leave or not. It wasn't her detention, she shouldn't have to do it. He didn't want her to, but her company would be nice, so he hoped she stayed and sat down.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Yay, I love detention! *just as sarcastic* by Hyana

OOC: We both will, and for fear of my life, I never said a thing about you and Wolfe. It was all him.

Hyana made her way across the pitch after lessons, yay. Detention. Hyana listened to Coach Fox's instructions, and dutifully picked up the brooms. She made a mental note to tell Caedence how horrible this woman was being to her. That would be fun.

Hyana kept quiet while they were walking. She didn't want to get Josiah in any trouble. Or herself for that matter. When they got to the shack thing, Coach Fox explained what they were to do, and Hyana cast a sideways glance at Josiah. He seemed very...angry. Ticked. Ready to kill. Right when Fox left, Hyana picked up a broom and a rag and started to work. After a few minutes, Josiah said:

"Hyana, sit. You don't deserve this, you don't need to do it. It's my fault you're in this mess, I won't have you taking my punishment. Just relax, I'll handle it. If you're careful, you could sneak on back to Alardren and she won't even notice, I'll have this at least half done by the time she wants us to leave. I can get those brooms wiped down and hung up neatly in ten minutes or less. So sit, or go to your commons, okay?" He gave her a look that meant, do what I tell you, I ain't kidding around.

Hyana ran her hand across the dirty broom, and for a split second considered taking Josiah up on his offer. What are you thinking Hyana?! She scolded herself. She would never be so selfish. Josiah was being so nice, but it wasn't just his fault. She was to blame as well. She walked over to Josiah, who was avoiding looking at her, and bent right down in front of his face. She was mad.

"Look here Josiah." she snapped. "This is not just your fault. I wanted the lessons. I asked. It's my punishment too." She straightened up, knowing Josiah was watching her then. "And I won't leave you to do all the work that witch assigned us!" She stomped her foot on the ground, her hands balled into fists. "I'm used to this kind of work anyway. It's all I'm worth at home. Why not here too?" With that, she turned around and started sorting the balls.\n\n

NO YOU WILL NOT WORK! by Josiah

Josiah glared right back at Hyana. This was not her punishment! It was his fault, he did it. She didn't even know there were schedualed flying lessions. If he didn't wanna get her to like him like he liked anything from the female species they wouldn't be in this situation! It was his fault, not hers. Just because he liked how pretty she was. Him and his stupid flirting!

"You WONT work Hyana! You wont! You wont!" He yelled getting off the bench jumping up and down with each 'wont'. "It's my own stinking fault! If you don't sit your little butt down I'll scream every thought I ever had about Fox, good and bad, and get her to give me more detentions! If you wanna clean the brooms, fine, then let me finish! Got me?" He glared at her, and inhaled deeply to emphasise his threat.\n\n

You can't tell me what to do by Hyana

Hyana shrugged off Josiah's glare. It's not like the glare was real. Just in the moment. But she felt it burning a hole in her back as she started a pile of deflated volleyballs. She forced herself to completly ignore him. She would just do her work, like a good little girl. Like mommy's little angel...

"You WONT work Hyana! You wont! You wont!" Josiah started shouting. Hyana turned around quickly to see him throw his own little temper tantrum. She didn't care that he looked like a pathetic little boy, she was worried that he would damage the equipment and Amy would give them even more detentions. He started threatening to scream and get more detentions if she continued to work. When he sucked in his breath, she rolled her eyes.

"You done?" She said hotly. "Honestly Josiah, how old are you? You can't tell me what to do, okay? Go ahead and shout. Doesn't matter to me. I don't really care." She turned back around and added another volleyball to the deflated pile. "Besides." She snapped. "This work is what I do. I'm muggleborn, remember? I never had a house elf to do things for me. You could never clean anything in this shack properly."\n\n

Brat....-_- by Josiah

Josiah sighed heavily. He knew that was a little juvenile. HE was about to apologize and say that if she wanted to do work, fine with him, before she spoke again.

Honestly Josiah, how old are you? You can't tell me what to do, okay? Go ahead and shout. Doesn't matter to me. I don't really care. This work is what I do. I'm muggleborn, remember? I never had a house elf to do things for me. You could never clean anything in this shack properly."

His stomach twisted in rage, his fists clenched around the cleaning rag. "Do not ever ever insult my family you m..." He stopped, finishing the sentance in his head, "Do not dare to think you know what my life is. Do not dare to assume. Don't you even dare! You do not wish to mess with my family. I am more forgiving than Uncle Joshua, but Grandfather and Uncle Joshua can and will make your little muggle life more miserable than it could possibly be."

He stalked over to a corner, trying to calm down. "Oh, and Miss Kamiya," he hissed, dropping the familiar title, "Just to let you know, Chipper is the only one in my family I care about. Don't you dare say that I use him as a slave. I help him do the work! Do your stupid work if you want, I don't even care." He glared at her, this time more genuine than he could ever even glare at his uncle.\n\n

You finished? Good. by Amy Fox

It seemed to Amy that she had barely situated herself in her office before she was shooting to her feet once more. Honestly, this kid Ashwood was starting to get on her nerves. Hearing his voice ringing through the wall, Amy stalked to the door way, throwing the door open and making her way back to the equipment room.

Pausing, Amy breathed in deeply, trying to catch hold of herself before she exploded on point. Finally claiming reign of her anger, Amy started once more, coming to a stop at the doorway, taking in Josiah's words.

"...will make your little muggle life more miserable than it could possibly be." She watched as she stalked over to a corner and continued to hiss malicious words at his partner in crime. Eyes darting to Kamiya, Amy felt another surge of anger. Lips pursing, Amy cleared her throat to alert the pair to her presence.

"Ashwood," she started off dangerously, "I don't know what this whole thing is about and personally I don't care. It seems to me that Kamiya is doing her work while you're wasting my time. This is not a vacation. This is a detention. Do your work and be quiet about it."

Leaning into the doorway, she stared at the pair. "Now, do I need to stay in here with you to make sure that you do your work?"\n\n

Why do people always blame me first? by Josiah

Josiah was about to turn back to his pile of stuff that needed oiled when he heard another person, much older, clear her throat. His ears, already reddened from anger, now got even redder with embarassment.

"I was doing my work, Miss Fox" He said through clenched teeth pointing at his pile of already oiled gloves, "But me and Miss Kamiya," he glared at the girl in question, "Had a small argument. Sorry if I disturbed you ma'am. It won't happen again. If you'll excuse me?"

He stomped over to his pile of leather gear and continued working, keeping his eyes firmly on the rag. Oh how he wished he knew more curses, both magical and non. He imagined every speck of dirt to have both Hyana and Fox's face on them and rubbed them out harshly putting as much malace in each stroke as he could. Let her give him more detentions, he didn't care. Let her hate him. So what? He just wanted to get his work done, get out of here and maybe out of this stupid school.\n\n

Because you're always to blame by Hyana

Hyana tried to close her ears to everything Josiah was throwing at her. She tried and tried and tried. But Josiah kept going. He almost called her a mudblood! She continued to sort through the volleyballs, then started on the basketballs. Why didn't he just finish the word? Why didn't he call her a mudblood out loud? It was true, wasn't it?

Josiah continued to throw insults at her, even threatening to have his family make her muggle life miserable. Hyana blinked back tears and bit her lip so hard it bled. She wouldn't snap back. That's what the idiot wanted. For some strange reason, Hyana wished she knew more swear words in Japanese. She glanced at Josiah to see the evil glare he was sending at her, and quickly went back to work. That was a look she saw too often.

From the doorway, someone cleared their throat. It sounded very familiar. Hyana whipped around, half expecting to see her own mother there, but of course, it was Coach Fox. Not much difference in attitude in her opinion. She started scolding Josiah, and Hyana didn't care. He deserved it. Then, he tried to defend himself, and she really couldn't believe what she was hearing. Little fight?! The idiot was ready to call her a mudblood, and she was ready to break his nose for it! And the way he was talking to Coach Fox, Hyana was amazed that Josiah was still breathing.

"I'm sorry ma'am..." Hyana started to say, but then stopped. She could get payback for this! "It's just that Josiah was trying to get me to skip detention. I didn't want to, then he started shouting at me and did almost no work until you came in. I'm sorry that he disturbed you. I'll keep the little brat in line so you can do your work." She turned back to the basketballs. There Josiah, when you mess with the student of Caedence, you regret it.\n\n

If You Think It's Josiah's Fault, Say 'Aye' by Amy Fox

"I was doing my work, Miss Fox," the boy responded rudely. Amy's brows raised into her hairline as he continued, ,"but me and Miss Kamiya had a small argument. Sorry if I disturbed you, ma'am. It won't happen again. If you'll excuse me?" She watched with mild amusement as he childishly stomped away.

She practically ignored Kamiya as she responded, only taking note as she said that Ashwood had tried to get her to skip detention, and kept her eyes on the boy. "Are you five?" she finally asked. "Honestly, at least act your age. You look ridiculous."

Walking into the room, she came to stand near the boy, anger and amusement fighting to be the reigning emotion. "I don't know who you think you are. I don't care who your parents are or what your heritage is. You do not treat me that way. Do you hear me?" she gritted out.

Placing her hands on her hips, Amy looked around the shed. "It looks to me that Kamiya has been doing her work--" Her eyes landed on the quickly growing pile of balls which needed fixing. "--and I don't care if you don't think she deserved this punishment. You were both guilty of flying before first year lessons and so you both received detention."

Summoning a pair of Quidditch goggles, Amy transfigured them into a chair and placed it by the pile of deflated balls. "Although I had wanted to stay in my office, it looks like you can't handle simply being on your own and working so I'll have to stay in here with you. If I so much as hear another peep from you, I'll send you to the Headmaster's office. I don't deal with disrespect."

Moving to the chair, Amy took a seat and looked at Kamiya, "Just hand me them as you find them." She motioned to the balls and then reached down to retrieve one. Once she was situated, she placed a cooling charm upon herself and got to work.

Eyes still focused on the ball in her hand, she addressed Ashwood once more, "By the way, Ashwood, you're to have two more detentions with me on top of the two you've already received. If I were you, I'd watch my words."

B-but it's my AUTHOR's fault!!!! I insist! by Josiah

Josiah's mouth formed a firm scowl as he listened to the woman. Oh how annoying she was! And two more detentions? Two!? Didn't she consider that he had a life other than cleaning? That irksome Coach! He know knew why everytime he heard stories of her, it was often accompanied by stories of fights with Wolfe. He was almost happy his mother forbade him to join quidditch. Almost

He kept his mouth shut tight, not wishing to get himself in bigger trouble. He tapped a foot impatiently. My gosh! How much was she going to spout her junk? "I'm sorry I was disrespectful. I won't ever ever be that way again," He said looking at her with his most sincerely angelic look. He turned back to the equipment and was surprised to find it was almost all done. Wow, he did his work better angry.

She threatened him with the Headmaster. He sucked his lips into his mouth to prevent anything coming out of them. He almost sighed when she complained that she wanted to stay in her office. Honestly, she didn't have to stay here!

He couldn't help gaping at her when she said he had two more detentions. He almost said something, but didn't want to get in anymore trouble. That jerk!

Speaking of jerks, he glared over at Little Miss Perfect. She was loving this, he bet. Suddenly, though he always thought her pretty, she seemed rather ugly and stuck-up to him right now. 'I'll get my payback someday for this Hyana!' he thought vehemently, 'I will talk to my grandfather, greatgrandpa, anyone! You'll pay!'

He finished with the leather and went to work on the brooms that Hyana had abandoned. He sighed before getting to work. Somehow, this was turning into the worst day in the history of the world.

If I say Aye will the author kill me in RL? by Hyana

Hyana watched Coach Fox transfigure her goggles into a chair, and was pretty amazed. "W-wow..." She whispered, more to herself than anyone else. She doubted Coach Fox would want her praise anyway. Hyana felt a pang of guilt when Josiah was awarded two more detentions. She could almost feel his hatred for her burning off his skin. He hated her. Hyana's first real friend hated her. Why had she blown something like that?

She put another basketball in the okay ball, nodding at Coach Fox's instructions as Fox performed a cooling charm on herself. That charm would be pretty cool for Josiah's Charms Club... She thought as she watched him walk over to the brooms. She saw the anger and sadness in his eyes, and wiped her eyes furiously. She wasn't going to cry here of all places!

The work was almost done, she noticed as she added the last basketball to the pile. She picked up one of the rags and moved to the windows. Hyana scrubbed at them, allowing a little more light in. She looked at the sky, and placed her palm on the window. It would be so nice just to fly away right now... She thought sadly. Just fly away and never come back. That's what Coach Fox wants. That's what Josiah wants... Realizing that she had stopped for a pretty long time, being lost in her thoughts, she pulled her hair into a ponytail and continued to work on the windows.\n\n
