Jake had woken up as though this day was like any other day, which, for him, was entirely true. Teppenpaws had the day off. They could do whatever they wanted. Today was the big game betweeen the Aladrens and the Crotalus and Jake was most definitely planning on watching if only to support Jennifer. Really, he shouldn't really be rooting for any team, but he felt his...whatever it was that he had with Jennifer...made him a bit biased in this case.

"Oyi, Izzy, what're you wearing?" Jake asked his sister when he met up with her in the hall. Bella grinned and twirled to give him a better look. She was wearing a pair of tiny shorts with multi-colored leggings that endded at her knees beneath them. Her shirt was a blue t-shirt sporting the word 'Aladren' across the front to support her house. Her makeup comprized of brght blue liner around her eyes, some sort of glitter across her cheeks and glossy lips. Her hair was probably the most normal looking thing on her and that was in some ponytail off the side of her head.

"Festive, no?" Bella asked him but Jake had no way of knowing whether or not she was serious. "Going to cheer on your girlfriend?" She asked after a moment, turning her head when she noticed Matt and Josh making their way over to them. Jake gave her a slight shove.

"She's not my girlfriend."

"Isn't she? I've heard rumors that the two of you have been spotted being rathr chummy. That's quite the change since we haven't seen the two of you in the same room together unless by force of classes." At this point in time the twins had caught up to their older siblings and caught the tail end of Bella's words.

"Is this that Jenny girl?" Matt asked before laughing. Whether he was laughing at the look on Jake's face or the outfit to which Bella was sportng was anyone's guess. It was doubtful that even Matt knew to which he was laughing at. "Jake's cuddly-bear." Matt mused using Mercedes petname for Paco and earning himself a rightful punch in the shoulder by Jake.

"Knock it off, all of you." Jake said. "This is the reason why I don't tell any of you anything, geesh." Jake mumbled, turning to head out the door. Bella and the twins followed close behind chuckling.

"Bella, what are you wearing?" Josh asked of his sister, Bella turned around and gave him a cheeky grin.

"Why, jealous?"

"Hardly." Josh responded with ease. "Is that the shirt Mama made for you?

"Like it?" Bella quipped. "Ask nicely, and I'm sure Mama will make you one."

"No thanks, I'd prefer not to be beaten up by my housemates." Josh responded, walking in front of his other siblings as they neared the quidditch pitch. "Besides, you're the enemy today, I can't be seen with you." Josh walked a bit faster with Bella scoffing behind him. Matt followed Josh's lead.

"Besides, who'd want to be seen with you looking like that?" Matt added before running off as to avoid Bella's fury.

"Stupid brats." Bella mumbled. Jake had to bring a hand up to try and stifle his laughter. "Is there something really wrong with my look?" Bella asked her brother, looking up at him. It was rare to see Bella lose her confidence so easily. Jake shrugged.

"Not really. Don't listen to the two of them, you know they like getting you all upset with this stuff. Think of them like the male version of Sofia."

"Of great, just what we need. I'm calling them that too. They deserve nothing less." They climbed the stands and positioned themselves so that they had a great view of the pitch and both goal ends. "Seriously though, what's up with you and the Crotalus captain?"

"She's coming to the wedding. I guess that means we're together...sort of. I don't really know though." Bella chuckled. "Hey, you shouldn't even be talking. From what I hear, you were out and about with a boy not that long ago." Jake said, trying to get some of the heat off of him.

"Whoa, Bella has a boyfriend?" Josh asked, coming up in the stands behind them with Matt and depositing themselves down directly behind them.

"You mean, boys actually look at her? Nasty." Matt added, before rubbing his leg in pain as Bella retaliated against him with her fists. This time Jake didn't even bother to hide his laughter. The figures of the approaching players forced all four of the Santoros to quiet down and wait impatiently for the game to begin. Once the players were in the air, every last one of them were cheerings. Jake and Josh for Crotalus, Bella for Aladren, and Matt stating he was for Crotalus only so that Bella would become angry with him.

It didn't all that far into the game (and really, Anne was only just getting the quaffle) when all hell broke loose. The sounds of flapping wings caused the Santoros to glance above them. Flocks of owls were flying above their heads with boxes tied to their legs. "What's going on?" Matt asked Jake and Bella, neither of them had the answers. Suddenly, a Howler exploded and words came screaming into the air.

"Did someone send the Coach a Howler?" Bella whispered to Jake. Jake sat beside his sister with his mouth hanging opened in disbelief at the scene unfolding in front of them. Suddenly, there were owls in front of them with boxes for them to take. Bella instinctively reached for one and took it. Inside was exaclty what the howlers had spoken about. "Is this a joke? IS THIS FOR REAL?" Bella asked, her anger getting the better of her. She threw both the box and the gift inside away from her and stood up looking for a professor or someone to say it was all a joke. "What's going on?"\n\n

Irene blinked as the sun shone through the windows her her dorm, getting out bed and dressing. Irene was excited for the game today and wanted to get a good seat. She wasn't really sure who to support. When in doubt, pick both! Riffling through her belongings she found a long blue T-shirt and decided it would have to do and threw on a red scarf. Jeans and a T-shirt. Okay.

Irene found a seat behind some people and awaited the start of the game. She cheered with the fans at goals and bluder hits. It wasn't too far into the game before a swarm of owls swoped over the spectators dropping boxes and pamphlets around people. A howler could be heard around the statium addressed to Coach Fox shouting things about her... orientation. Irene's eyes widened and she wondered wether it was true, but doubting it was.

When a box dropped on her head Irene looked inside it to see a badge. Looking at the pamphlet dropped beside her she read about some organization against women playing Quidditch. Irene felt her temper flare and exclaimed,

"What kind of sick joke is this?!"

Another girl in front of her was standing and demanding an explanation.

"What's going on?"

Irene grabbed the pamphlet and held it out to her.

"Take a look at this. It's all some disgusting organization against women playing Quidditch," she said bitterly. \n\n

Bella had been expecting a reply from a Professor, an older student, or no reply at all. What she hadn't been expecting was some younger student (either a first or second year by the looks of her) to respond as though Bella hadn't a clue as to what the problem was. Bella knew about the group WAIL, she had received an owl from them the year previous, what she wanted to know was why they were sending the Coach Howlers, dropping pamphlets and buttons down on the students, and what the professors planned on doing about it.

Turning quickly in her seat, Bella glared at the girl who had spoke and was about to retort if Jake hadn't decided to step in rather quickly to stall any fight Bella might start, "Yeah, we got one." Jake told the girl, giving her an apologetic smile, hoping the girl understood that Bella's anger wasn't directed at her. "This WAIL is old news for us, it's just a surprise that they, you know, did this."

"Hey Irene!" Matt said suddenly from his seat, remembering having talked to her during the feast. His smile faded slightly at the look Bella sent his way, so he returned to whatever conversation he was having with his twin. Jake forced his sister to look back at the pitch.

"Well, it's stupid!" Bella exclaimed. "It took women centuries to have the rights that they have now and these women are striping us of all of them! I'm a Pureblood! I'm a girl! I should be able to do anything a man does except pee standing up!" Bella fumed, her eyes staring at the Pitch, but Jake knew she probably wasn't paying attention.

"Ben has the quaffle." Jake stated, hoping to distract his sister momentarily. Bella's interest perked as she turned her gaze to Ben for a moment. She hissed when Earl saved the goal.

"WOO! GOOD JOB BENNY!" Bella cheered, "KEEP IT UP SLEEPY-DO!" Jake blinked. 'Sleepy-do'? What sort of nickname was that? After another thought, Jake decided he didn't want to know. Any sort of name that had 'sleepy' in it wasn't anything a brother would want to know. The twins were laughing at the nickname, but Bella's glare shut them up rather quickly.

"I guess we know which one's Bella boyfriend." Josh sniggered to Matt.

"Shame, really. I'm sure he has much better potential than Bella." Matt replied

"Shut up! He's not my boyfriend, leave me alone!" Bella pouted, turning againt to face the girl. "Listen, WAIL is just a bunch of middle-aged, white, rich Pureblooded women who are so inept in everyway, so miserable with their lives, insecure in their marriages and/or relationships that they had to form their own little group just so that they can take the fun out of everyone else's lives so we can all be as miserable as they are." Bella said all of this with one breath that when she finished she was red in the face and gasping for breath.

Jake, who's eyes were on the game, but ears on the conversation said nothing. He wasn't a female, but still felt this WAIL stuff was crap. Of course, he came from a large family where the females always had the upper hand and to tell them they couldn't do something just made them want to do it all the more. Plus, he was in a relationship with the Crotalus Captain who happened to be a Pureblood female, so he couldn't really support such a group even if he wanted to.

"Ease up, Bella, getting angry at them won't change their stance. Besides, you don't play Quidditch anymore." Josh said, eyeing his sister with caution.

"That's not the point! I should be able to play Quidditch whenever I want whether I have boobs or not!" Bella staking claim on her gender by calling out her parts had the twins covering their ears and claiming their brains were rotting. "And just because a woman plays, why does that mean she's a lesbian? Playing a sport doesn't automatically mean you like the same gender? And if it did, shouldn't it apply to men as well? I mean, what sort of logic do these women even have? None, that's how much."\n\n

Elly Eriksson

February 19, 2007 4:25 PM
There were only a handful of situations that would encourage Elly to get out of bed on time, and one of those situations was to watch a game of Quidditch. Since arriving at Sonora and being introduced to that magnificent sport played on broomsticks Elly had come to love it; she had even signed up for her House team this year.

Elly skipped breakfast – hopefully the match would be so exciting she wouldn’t think about being hungry – and headed down to the Quidditch pitch, where she found a seat amongst some fellow Pecaris. Although the outcome of the match made little difference to Elly as far as her House was concerned, she did feel just a touch more enthusiasm for the Aladrens. Although Elly got along very badly with the Aladrens in her own year, she didn’t get on very well with the Crotali, either, she preferred the Aladrens in general. Guenther was nice enough and he was in Aladren. Crotalus, on the other hand, housed Leo Idoya. At the start of their first year Elly had thought that perhaps Leo would improve upon further acquaintance, but so far he hadn’t shown any inclination to speak to her ever again, so perhaps she’d been wrong on that count.

As the game began, Elly found that actually she didn’t much care who won, as long as they didn’t do it soon because she wanted to be watching the match for a long time. When the owls started arriving, and the howlers started howling, Elly began to doubt the game would even last another minute. Some of the things echoing from the red envelopes made Elly’s eyes widen, but not as much as the pamphlet that fell into her lap. She’d heard mention of WAIL before, but hadn’t really given it much thought since there were plenty of girls at Sonora who played Quidditch. She never would have imagined that the organisation would interrupt a simple inter-house match at the school – it was bizarre.

The commotion on the pitch had barely subsided when a commotion in the stands just by where Elly was still gawking at the pamphlet began. Elly noticed the Santoro twins from her year – Matt shared a room with Echo – and their older siblings talking with a girl – apparently called Irene – who was also in Pecari. The girl Santoro (Elly didn’t know her name) seemed to be more than a little incensed by the WAIL propaganda.

“And just because a woman plays, why does that mean she's a lesbian? Playing a sport doesn't automatically mean you like the same gender! And if it did, shouldn't it apply to men as well? I mean, what sort of logic do these women even have? None, that's how much.”

Elly thought she had a good point. There wasn’t a political group opposed to men playing Quidditch as far as Elly was aware. Furthermore, these WAIL witches seemed to counter their own argument: if playing Quidditch was unladylike, surely boycotting a game was equally so. The decorum the pamphlet emphasised wasn’t, by Elly’s understanding, being demonstrated by the propagandists.

There was one part of the leaflet that Elly didn’t understand, and that was the reference to Rosaline Penn. Momentarily forgetting where she was, Elly leant forward and addressed Matt’s sister. “Who’s Rosaline Penn?” she asked, “And what’s she got to do with this WAIL rubbish?”

Irene opened her mouth to apologize as the girl she had been speaking to threw a glare in her direction but the boy next to her cut her off.

"Yeah, we got one." He had smied, as if apologizing for her. She looked around as her name was called.

"Hey Irene!" She grinned and waved back. She remembered speaking to him at the feast and was pretty sure his name was Matt. The three turned away and Ireens' attention, once again, was back onthe pitch.

Irene looked back over as the girl turned to face her.

"Listen, WAIL is just a bunch of middle-aged, white, rich Pureblooded women who are so inept in everyway, so miserable with their lives, insecure in their marriages and/or relationships that they had to form their own little group just so that they can take the fun out of everyone else's lives so we can all be as miserable as they are."

Irene gave a bitter laugh. "Sounds like my grandmother," she said. Her grandomther lived in Florida with her inheritance and liked to pop in by surprise to see if Irene was "being raised like a lady."

"It's all a bunch of crap!" Irene exclaimed. "Especially what they're doing to Coach Fox! You just don't DO that!"

"Ease up, Bella, getting angry at them won't change their stance. Besides, you don't play Quidditch anymore."

"That's not the point! I should be able to play Quidditch whenever I want whether I have boobs or not!"

Irene agreed and jumped in on the deffence. "Just because someone is a girl should mean they have to stop playing a sport! What about keeper Meaghan McCormack for Portree? Teams would be suffering without good players like her, women, that support their team!" She didn't mean to yell, but this was getting her worked up.

"Women shouldn' have to worry about being attacked for playing Quidditch along with getting to practices and working for their team," She added.

"And just because a woman plays, why does that mean she's a lesbian? Playing a sport doesn't automatically mean you like the same gender? And if it did, shouldn't it apply to men as well? I mean, what sort of logic do these women even have? None, that's how much."

Irene nodded. "True, true." Another girl had joined the ranks and Irene looked over.

“Who’s Rosaline Penn?” she asked, “And what’s she got to do with this WAIL rubbish?”

Irene had seen this girl before, but never actually talked to her. Irene thought she was a second year and remembered her from the try-outs for the house team. \n\n

Jenna Howard

February 20, 2007 3:51 PM
When the rest of your roommates made up the seeker-captain, chaser, and beater of the house Quidditch team, it was pretty much a given that you went to all the games. At least, that's how Jenna thought about the matter. Yes, she probably should be taking advantage of the empty dorm and catching up on her studies- she didn't even like Quidditch that much. The brunette had gotten up this morning thinking that was just what she was going to do. But then, at breakfast when she saw everyone all hyped up for the game, well, anyone could understand her feeling of guilt, right?

Besides, it would be really nice if they could win a game- maybe she wasn't a Quidditch expert, but she knew enough to realize that Crotalus hadn't won a game in quite some time. They were also leading in house points, at least, last time she checked they were. Winning the game would give her house a good lead over the rest of the houses.

And then all that W.A.I.L. business fell from the sky. Well, if attention was what they were aiming for, and Jenna had a feeling it was, then it had been a success. She was sure everyone was going to write home about this- this was not going to be an isolated thing.

And Jordanna was going to eat this right up- Jenna was sure of it. Leaning foward in her seat, Jenna looked for her little sister in the lower levels of the stands. She knew for a fact that the younger Howard had a great distaste for heights, and because of that, Quidditch. Any excuse to dislike Quidditch was fine with the blonBut Jordanna always attended Quidditch games, coming to see and be seen.

Picking up the box that had fell into the hood of her scarlet hoodie, she weighed her options. Considering that she was too cowardly to actually go out and defy her family and leave them altogether, it would probably help her to get back in their good graces by being seen with the badge. On the other hand, acting like she supported W.A.I.L. probably wouldn't be enough for her parents. No, these days they were much more concerned with finding their older daughter a proper pureblood boyfriend.

But she didn't come here to think about her family- she was here for her friends. Opening the box and putting the button in the pocket of her hoodie for later thought. She really hoped that nobody would notice.

"Hey," she said, turning to the kid next to her, trying to take her mind off of unpleasant thoughts, "Do you know who has the Quaffle?"\n\n

Jake immediately regretted sitting with his sister during this game once her and the first year-Irene by what Matt had said-got into a huff over everything. Of course, he had no way of knowing that owls would come flying out of knowing and depositing a load of rubbish into their laps, but still...Bella was always one to be easily offended even if something wasn't necessarily directed at her. She was a lot like Hannah in that sense.

The fact that Irene was going right along with Bella didn't seem to help anything either. Both the twins inched away slightly as both girls began to really get into their arguments and Irene's support fueled Bella all the more. Jake simply remained quiet with his eyes on the game. It didn't seem to really be going anywhere, but at least it distracted him from these girls throwing a tizzy over something stupid like this group WAIL.

"Hey now!" Josh replied to Irene who seemed to have taken what he said in the wrong way. "I never said I had a problem with women in sports. Quite frankly, there are few men who could play as good as some of the women I've seen play. But, then, I've got a lot of girls in my family who would be so pleased to hurt me if I were against them doing anything." Josh said in a very serious way.

"Yeah, I don't really care who plays what so long as their good at it." Matt added. That was true enough. Matt was so angry when the Magpies let Jonah Rumsfield onto their team and he was one of the worst seekers in history. "We're just saying that yelling at us for this WAIL junk isn't going to help any. Either do something about it or ignore it."

Any argument Bella was going to give to her brother was immediately stopped when another girl joined their group. Matt knew her immediately as the girl Echo as always around, Elly. Much like Leo was absent from Josh's life due to always being around Nikki, Echo was visibly absent in Matt's life since he only hung around Elly and Meredith. Bella looked at the girl for a moment, trying to calm herself a bit so as to not sound like she was being snappish, "Rosaline Penn is the Keeper on the Ashwinders team who just so happens to also be a lesbian." Bella responded rather firmly.

"She the whole reason for all this WAIL stuff." Matt added.

"Yeah, because she came out with her sexual orientation, suddenly that means all women who play Quidditch must also be lesbians. It's all ridiculous." Bella stated with a roll of her eyes. "COME ON ALADRENS!" Bella yelled, trying to get rid of some her anger by cheering on her team.\n\n

Irene realized she had been getting into a debate again. "Oh, I didn't think you were!" she said, hoping to put her point across. "I was just... Quidditch is kind of a family pride and I guess this hit home," she said quickly. "I was mad and you happened to be the unfortunate people near me," she said with a playful smile.

She didn't want it too seem like she was teaming up against them, but she did agree with the girl. It was all a huge discrimination and she wanted a reason to yell.

"It's nothing personal. It's just me."

"We're just saying that yelling at us for this WAIL junk isn't going to help any. Either do something about it or ignore it."

Irene blinked and felt a pang of guilt. Had seen been yelling at them? She had been angry about WAIL but she didn't mean to yell. It was a load of rubbish and she taking off steam like she usually did at home.

"Well, I've got some select words for those that are at the head of this WAIL group. Maybe a few Howlers of my own, too..." She said with a mischeivious grin.

Irene pushed WAIL to the back of her mind and turned to a girl she knew to be Elly.

"Hi! You were at try-outs for the team! I remember you!" She said with a smile.

"I'm Irene."\n\n

“Rosaline Penn is the Keeper on the Ashwinders team who also just happens to be a lesbian,” was the girl Santoro’s - Bella! Elly had heard the name Bella Santoro before - prompt answer to Elly’s question. Well that did explain a lot. Elly supposed WAIL must have had something to base their odd ideas on in the first place. Nevertheless it was utterly ridiculous; Elly presumed that there were far more female Quidditch players who didn’t like other girls than those who did, otherwise Rosaline Penn wouldn’t have been singled out. How daft.

“She’s the whole reason for this WAIL stuff,” Matt said. Elly glanced at him and smiled.

“I suppose they didn’t check to see if she was gay before she played Quidditch,” she said. “They’ve hardly made a decent argument, have they?” Elly started eyeing the pamphlet with disappointment rather than distaste. If a political group were to make such a public demonstration, they should at least have reasonable grounds for their views.

“Hi! You were at tryouts for the team. I remember you!” Elly’s attention turned from Matt to the girl next to her. “I’m Irene.” Elly remembered Irene from tryouts, too, and had noticed her in a few classes since the beginning of term.

“Hi, Irene,” Elly said, smiling the friendliest smile she could muster while simultaneously thinking about WAIL and watching the game. “I’m Elly.” Then she shifted slightly in her seat so she was able to address both Matt and Irene at the same time. “You not fancy playing Quidditch, Matt?” she asked. “If it’s going to turn all the girls into lesbians then perhaps the boys should be more encouraged to sign up,” she said, winking and grinning mischievously.

Matt and Josh were used to being yelled at, even if it wasn't necessarily directed at them. Growing up in a large family and being the youngest, fights, arguments, petty disagreements, or just having a bad day, the twins had long ago grown used to being the ones that everyone let their anger and frustrations out on.

"Don't apologize to them." Bella said curtly. "They're nothing more than a couple of-OUCH! JAKE!" Bella cried out, holding her side and smacking her brother for elbowing her. The two older Santoros continued with their bickering while the two younger Santoros continued their conversations with the girls. Although, Josh remained quiet as neither girls were really talking to him anyway.

Matt grinned at Elly, he knew she was the joking type but he didn't realize she was capable of such teasing abilities. "As awesome as that sounds, being on a team full of lesbians won't actually get me very far." Matt responded. "And I prefer to watch rather than play. Besides, by the look of that sign up sheet, I doubt I'm really missed."

"I'm sure the fact that you're rubbish at it doesn't come into play, right?" Josh added, for the first time really speaking up aside from when Bella and Irene were all heated up into an argument.

"And you're the Champion player, I suppose?" Matt added to his twin but only received a smile as a response. Matt rolled his eyes. "Anyway, I didn't realize you were into Quidditch, Elly. I thought you ran around with Echo and Meredith with all thoughts gone to the wind?"\n\n

Stephen Baxter

March 03, 2007 9:23 AM
Slightly breathless from running in a very round about way almost all the way to the pitch, Stephen slowed as he reached the stairs up to the stands. "Snog," he commented to Mia, whose hand he had not yet relinquished, "is a very weird word. It's almost like 'snot', which just makes it sound gross when it isn't."

When they'd reached the seating area, he looked around. He was going to be sitting with his friends, sure... but even if he wished it wasn't so, he wasn't stupid enough to not realise that Mia and Sorrel were not friends. So, when he spotted Jenna Howard - who he knew Mia did get on with - he took the both of them over to sit nearby, himself on the seat, and because it had been fun in the commons, he pulled Mia onto his lap again.

It didn't look like they'd missed much. And, in fact, it looked like they'd arrived just about in time as there were suddenly owls that looked.... oddly familiar... and there was yelling on the pitch and all sorts of excitement. The coach was being called names by a red envelope - was she really gay? Stephen watched her with renewed interest and speculation - and a box landed on his head.

Rubbing it with one hand for a moment, Stephen scowled at the nearest owl, whom he took to be the culprit. He reached down, using one hand to steady Mia, and grabbed the box that had hit him. He opened it in front of Mia, allowing them both to see what was inside.

"W.A.I.L.? Weren't they those crazy people from a couple of years ago? Haven't they given up yet?"

There was a little movement to his side. "Hey. Do you know who has the Quaffle?"

"Hey, Jenna. Er..." Stephen trailed off, a little reluctant to reveal that he hadn't actually been paying much attention to the game as such. His eyes scanned the field, "Looks like th- hey! Valentine made a save. The kid can learn. Crotalus. Looks like Layne's sister."

OOC: Sorry for the longish post. Lots of ground to cover. And I've left it a bit back in the game to avoid making this longer than necessary. Hope you don't mind the company, Jenna ;) we may be joined by Lizzie and the Cravens, unless they end up being more interested in goings on in the commons.\n\n

Mia Kerova

March 04, 2007 8:16 PM
Mia took the queue and slowly but surely drifted closer to the entrance of the common room as Stephen went over to Ash and Liz. She doubted how appreciative the two might be, but it was all in good fun and maybe a little progress. Honestly, she didn’t care much if Ash and Liz became an item, which was another reason she’d rather be where she was standing than where Stephen was. After the push, Stephen ran back, grabbed Mia’s hand and pulled her out of the common room while calling to Liz over his shoulder.

Mia slowed along with Stephen when they reached the stands. She took the pause to catch her breath as Stephen told her his odd comment on the word ‘snog.’

“Thanks for sharing that.” She laughed as her panting eased.

The two made their way up the stands and Mia followed Stephen to a seat he seemed to have his eye one. Well he got the seat. She got his lap again, which suited her just fine as she leaned back again as well. She was ready to watch the game, which didn’t seem too far underway, but things became strange as owls began flying overhead and shouting and insults could be heard. Mia sat up again staring at the mass of birds dropping boxes and papers and the screaming envelopes. Howlers. What in the world was going on?

There was a small thud nearby and Mia saw Stephen picking up a box and opening it in front of them both showing a badge for something called W.A.I.L. A paper floated across her lap that looked to be from the same people. She stopped it before it could drift off. Mia read the pamphlet, looking back and forth between the words and the badge. Was this for real? Who were these people? Stephen seemed to recognize the group.

"W.A.I.L? Weren't they those crazy people from a couple of years ago? Haven't they given up yet?"

“What people? This has happened before?” Mia asked, but continued to look at the ridiculous pamphlet. Women’s proper place in the home and all that. Even if she wasn’t a sport driven girl, she never put much stock in old fashion ideas like that. She knew a few girls who would definitely have something to say about all of this.

Mia didn’t recall ever hearing about W.A.I.L before. Then again, current events was never her topic of choice. She thought back to when people like that might have come to Sonora a few years ago. The alumni banquet maybe? She hadn’t stayed long since she was the first in her family to go to Sonora so no family of hers was there. Friends of hers had stayed to see relatives, but she let them alone with their relatives and went to class that day. She remembered because it was the same day as that freak mud storm where she had been put in charge of bringing her housemates back to the common room. Headmaster Bulla (Professor back then, she’d get used to that one of these days) seemed to have a lot of trust in her.

Mia looked over with a greeting smile to Jenna, only just noticing the girl was beside them when she spoke to them. She hadn’t had much time to notice who was around her. She was happy to see it was Jenna and not a worse alternative. Mia looked back out at the game, not really sure what was going on. Stephen seemed to know, at least he could follow it better than she could, so Mia let him talk and she kept her eyes on the game to see if she could catch up. The letters and boxes didn’t seem to hold up the game much. \n\n

Matt grinned at Elly’s teasing. “As awesome as that sounds, being on a team full of lesbians won’t actually get me very far,” he replied. Elly had actually meant that the boys should sign up to stop the girls playing Quidditch, thereby creating fewer lesbians, giving the boys a better pick for girlfriends. She didn’t bother to explain what she’d meant, though, as Matt’s reply made her laugh, and the whole concept was so utterly bizarre anyway she didn’t think they should discuss it in too much depth.

Elly laughed again at the twins’ bickering about each others’ Quidditch abilities; a redundant argument, since neither played for their House. “Anyway, I didn’t realise you were into Quidditch, Elly,” Matt said. “I thought you ran around with Echo and Meredith with all thoughts gone to the wind.”

Elly hoped he was teasing. She thought for a split second that there were some bitter undertones there – jealousy, perhaps? But Elly glanced at Matt to see he was still smiling, so she assumed she’d imagined any negative vibes. Still, it was obviously a jibe at her. Elly poked her tongue out in response.

“I’ll have you know I’m an excellent flier,” she said in theatrically overdone mortification, “and when I’m Quidditch captain in a few years I certainly shan’t let you on the team.” She grinned. “Besides, there’s nothing wrong with abandoning your thoughts to the wind, you know. Maybe you should try it someday.”

Jenna Howard

March 06, 2007 8:20 PM
For some people it might have been awkward to sit next to a couple, but Jenna was oddly used to it. She’d spent the summer living with her cousin and his girlfriend, after all. And that was about as many details as she was willing to think about at the moment.

“Hi Stephen, Mia,” she smiled politely. “He better have learned,” Jenna responded to Stephen’s comment on Earl. One thing about the house system was that you got to know a bit about people, willingly or no. And she did know that there would be several after the Crotalus keeper’s head if he screwed up during this game. A lot of the Crotalus students were really itching for a win this year. People got really serious for some reason when it came to Quidditch, but Jenna didn’t understand why. It was, after all, just a game.

“Wow,” she muttered in quiet disbelief as the little Aladren keeper (was she a first year- Jenna couldn’t be sure) made the save. Probably was a first year, Jenna didn’t remember seeing the girl on the team last year. There was nobody announcing the players or anything, so that was always a bit confusing. She knew all of the Crotalus players’ names, as she saw them around the common room, and the fifth years on other teams’ names, from classes. But when it came to underclassmen that weren’t in her own house, for the most part, she was pretty lost.

“Lily looks like she’s out for blood,” Jenna observed. The brunette hoped that her roommate was able to vent all her anger on the Pitch, and that Crotalus won. Otherwise, Jenna might have to avoid her own dorm for a while afterwards.

"Yeah," Stephen said to Mia. "Back in third year there were all these letters to the pureblood girls and heaps of them - and the coach too - went completely apes- er, they went completely nuts. Same rubbish as this stuff, but more... focused, I guess." There wasn't much else that could be said about it.

He shrugged, wrapped his arms around Mia and gave her a light squeeze as he continued to follow the game.

“Lily looks like she’s out for blood."

"Doesn't she always?" Stephen asked, with a grin. "I hope that they get a game against Teppenpaw this year. I really want to see a Lily versus Lexi game - don't you think that'd be awesome? Hey, there goes Stafford aga- ha!" Stephen laughed, "wow, what's lit a fire under Geoff's broom today? Did you see that steal? Crotalus might actually stand a chance this year." He paused, then glanced at Jenna with a slightly apologetic grin.

Focusing back on the game, Stephen wondered where the twins and Lizzie had got to. They might have sat somewhere else after everything. Or maybe Liz had taken his advice, and she and Ash were in a cupboard somewhere finally getting to grips with their situation. And Sorrel...

Stephen let go with one hand to scratch an itchy nose and shook his head. They'd show up. Or they wouldn't. And if they didn't he could always catch up with them later. \n\n

The fact that Elly actually laughed at what Matt had said, allowed Matt's head to grow just a bit bigger. Never a good thing for him to ever receive an ego boost from a girl. Josh just rolled his eyes. Despite the fact that the two of them physically looked exactly alike, they were distinctly different. But only those who took enough time to get to know the twins were aware of those differences.

"Are you now?" Matt asked her in exaggerated disbelief. "You have time to fly with all that abandoned responsibilities the three of you go off with?" Matt looked at her with semi-amusement. "I suppose you'll just have to show me how good you really are." Matt responded, still grinning. "I thought we already went over this? The idea of playing on a team full of lesbians...or Captain by one, won't get me very far. So, I'll sit in the stands."

"Lesbians..." Josh murmured in thought for a moment before turning to his brother. "But not Elly, she's dating Echo, remember?" Josh commented, only glancing at Elly as he said this, but mainly keeping his attention on his brother. "She can't be a Lesbian if she's dating a boy, right?"

"They're dating?" Matt asked in geniune disbelief. "But Echo's...I mean, isn't he like, one of them?" Matt asked his brother, completely ignoring the fact that Elly was sitting right beside them.

"What does that mean?" Josh asked, trying to figure out what in the world his brother was referring too.

"Remember those articles in that magazine that we read? I think it was the one that Sofia was modeling in and she was shoving it under our noses all summer?" Matt explained to his brother. Josh thought for a moment, but then it dawned on him what his brother was talking about.

"Oh yeah, but no, I don't think Echo is like that. Him and Elly are together and Meredith has the misfortune of being a third wheel." Josh explained, Matt nodded after a moment.

"I guess so." Though Matt was still inclined to believe his own opinion over his brother's simply because he shared a room with Echo. "Poor Meredith. She's a cute girl. No offense, Elly, you're cute too, but if you're with Echo, I'm not allowed to do anything with you. Rules and all."\n\n

“You have time to fly with all the abandoned responsibilities you three go off with?” Matt was grinning, but Elly was starting to feel like she had developed a bit of an unwanted reputation. Sure she, along with Meredith and Echo, didn’t behave all the time, and they liked to run free and laugh, but she wasn’t aware she gave the impression of having no responsibilities. She always did her homework on time and was one of the best in the class at potions. She had a puffskein, too. She didn’t really mind if people thought she was a bit kooky, but she didn’t want to be perceived as someone who abandoned her responsibilities. But by the time Elly had thought about this, Matt had practically called her a lesbian.

“Oi!” Elly exclaimed, incensed. That was one reputation she definitely didn’t want. Thankfully, Josh didn’t seem to think Elly was a lesbian, even if his reasoning was a little absurd.

“But not Elly, She’s dating Echo, remember?” Josh said.

Elly blinked. In a way she felt relieved, because the thoughts she’d just had about how she was perceived by others were suddenly irrelevant. Obviously the Santoro boys were quite crazy, had totally the wrong end of the stick, and what they thought didn’t matter anyway. She opened her mouth to correct them about the status of her relationship with Echo, but was rendered speechless as she listened to the rest of their conversation. Elly hadn’t known bewilderment like this for quite some time; Josh thought Echo was dating Elly, and Matt apparently thought Echo was gay. Right. Where did they get these ideas?

“I don’t think Echo is like that,” Josh said. “Him and Elly are together and Meredith has the misfortune of being a third wheel.”

“I guess so,” Matt agreed. “Poor Meredith. She’s a cute girl. No offence, Elly, you’re cute too, but if you’re with Echo, I’m not allowed to do anything with you. Rules and all.”

This was ridiculous. It was definitely times to speak.

“Well that’s very gentlemanly of you,” Elly said to Matt, glaring at him ever such a little bit. “But I’m not with Echo, we’re not dating. We’re friends. And he’s not gay,” she added, looking sternly between the two of them but with a small smile so they knew she wasn’t really offended.

Having corrected them, the rest of what Matt had just said sunk in. They both thought that Meredith was a third wheel, hanging around with her and Echo. Elly was pretty sure Mere didn’t feel like that, but now she was feeling a little uneasy. Was it possible that one of them felt like a spare? Elly knew she didn’t, but she sometimes felt like they left Echo out of some things because he didn’t share a dorm like Mere and Elly did. He did share a room with Matt though… had Echo said anything to Matt? Elly was starting to feel a bit like she did when she got lost in the labyrinth. On top of all that, Matt had said she was cute. He’d called Mere cute, too, but that happened a lot. Elly knew her friend was pretty, but she had never really thought of herself as such. She was too tall and skinny with too many freckles to be called cute. Was Matt just teasing her again? Ugh, Elly could bet this all had something to do with turning thirteen – her grandmother had warned her that being a teenager was confusing.

Matt's smile faultered slightly at the glare Elly was sending his way. He couldn't quite figure out what he had said or done that would merit such a look. He had said she was dating Echo, which, as rumors were had, seemed true enough, and cute. Maybe she didn't like being called cute? Maybe she was one of those girls who rather be called beautiful instead of cute. Though to Matt, they seemed to be the same thing.

Course, Matt wasn't about to call her beautiful if she actually was dating Echo. There were rules that roommates followed. Echo might not be someone Matt dubbed a friend, but he certainly wasn't about to step on his toes either.

"Yeah, sure, alright." The twins replied in unison. Though both agreed with her, the tone of their voices clearly indicated that they did not believe her. Matt didn't due to the fact that he still believed Echo to be gay and Josh simply because he always saw Elly and Echo together more times then alone than with Meredith and the portraits were saying that everyone was talking about them. So, that was an easy enough conclusion to make.

"WOOO, ALRIGHT LILY!" Josh called out suddenly as Lily took out the Aladren Seeker. It looked painful (one main reason why Josh wasn't about to sign up for the team) as the little guy on the broom fell from the sky. Luckily, the medic was around to take care of him. After a moment of Josh staring at the players on the pitch, he turned his attention to Elly once more. "Well, if you aren't now, you will be later." He stated with ease. "It always happens. Look and Jake and the Jenny-girl. Friends since first year and now confessing their love for one another. Same with our parents.-" Matt nodded to show Elly that this was, indeed, true. "It's going to happen, just you wait."\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Judging by the Santoro twins’ response of “Yeah sure, alright,” they didn’t believe what Elly had said about Echo.

Her cry of “I mean it!” was lost, though, as Josh shouted his appreciation of one of the Crotalus beaters hitting the target that was Zack Dill, the Aladren seeker. Elly was thinking that the match was now pretty much one sided as she watched Zack being escorted to the medic’s tent, but her thoughts from the game were once again distracted as Josh continued.

“Well, if you aren’t now, you will be later,” he said.

“It’s going to happen, just you wait,” Matt supported his brother.

Elly sighed. She wasn’t sure there was much point in selling her side of the story, since the boys already had their minds made up. Okay, she couldn’t read the future, so she had no idea who she’d eventually end up with, but right now she was convinced it wasn’t going to be Echo. “Echo’s not really my type,” she said aloud, almost without realising it. For a start, Echo didn’t respond well to human contact, and Elly thought she would probably like to be hugged and to hold hands, and that sort of thing. Besides, Elly had never thought about Echo like that. In fact, thinking about Echo like that right now was starting to make her feel weird. “And I don’t think I’m his type, either,” she added, convinced that Echo would prefer a girlfriend who was not so loud and abrasive as herself.

The twins’ analysis of their parents and of Jake and ‘the Jenny-girl’ meant very little to Elly, seeing as she hadn’t met either of the couples. She had heard rumours about the two Quidditch captains, and the twins had confirmed the stories as true, but they were still just two other people in Elly’s mind, and not people to compare herself with. Elly’s own parents had been encouraged by their parents to marry, and, in Elly’s eyes at least, that had been a catastrophic idea.

Ash

March 15, 2007 12:00 PM
'You definitely need some practice.'

Ash tried not to look like Liz's comment bothered him too much, although he couldn't help but look rather taken aback. It seemed a bit of a snipey response and he was hurt that Liz was insulting his skills. Not that he went around making a big deal of it, but Liz was his friend and should have known that he'd never had a girl to kiss before, so how was he meant to know what to do? Before he could think up a reply (which would quite possibly have taken him some time) Sorrel had come barging through shouting.

Once Sorrel had rushed off, he got another unexpected reaction from Liz.

'No, y'all finish your argument, and I'll be in the stands watching the game. You go do whatever you want, Ash, I don't care.'

"Liz!" he called after her. What was her problem?! He'd just told Sorrel to go off and have her sulk. He'd picked Liz, and now SHE was hassling him for it? If she was in a mood with him, she'd probably spread it around the school that he was a crap kisser too. And this was a girl that supposedly liked him? Geez, they made no sense what-so-ever! In spite of the damage Liz could do to his reputation, he had more pride than to beg her to sit with him, especially when it was her who had the problem.

He knew who to blame though. If someone hadn't stuck his nose in... Storming down to the pitch with neither his sister nor his crush for company, he searched for Stephen. Hiding behind Princess. Pathetic. Much as he didn't want her to know what happened to him, that wasn't going to protect Stephen. Ignoring the chaos on the pitch, Ash strode through the stands to where his 'friend' was.

"You d***!" he yelled. "You think you're so ****ing funny?! You want to know what happened, thanks to your bloody prank? Neither of them is speaking to ME because of what YOU did!"

Lizzie

March 15, 2007 3:02 PM
The moment Lizzie stormed off, she knew it was probably a mistake. Ash had been trying to stick up for her- in a way. Regardless, Liz remained pissed off as she made her way to the stands. She didn't pay any attention to Ash calling after her, infact, she didn't really even hear him to begin with. All she could think about was how mad she was- mad at herself for messing things up and, more importantly, Stephen, for creating the situation in the first place.

So Lizzie made her way into the stands to where Stephen was seated, looking rather self-satisifed, with Mia. That is, she was headed that way, until she saw Ash beating her to it. She was far enough away from the conversation not to be noticed in the crowd, but not far enough to lose the sound of argument. Lizzie immediately stopped, listening to Ash's rant from her spot.

"Neither of them is speaking to ME because of what YOU did!"

Something in her mind clicked, and suddenly, she didn't feel angry anymore- she felt guilty. Ash had tried -he was a boy, afterall, what did she really expect?- and for that, she was getting mad at him? That made her feel horrible. At that, Lizzie continued towards Ash, Stephen, and the rest of the fifth years congregated. She was merely a few feet from them when she stopped again, hand on her hip.

"Will you stop yelling? I have something to say to Mr. Baxter, too," Lizzie asked Ash, rather impatiently before turning to Stephen, "Stephen, darlin'- I can handle things on my own, thanks. Your assistance is not needed."

With that, she took hold of Ash's chin to face her and pulled him towards her, kissing him squarely on the mouth.

"Look- I am not mad at you," she said finally before pulling away, looking him in the eyes and lowering her voice so just Ash would hear her, "and I'm sorry. Don't take it out on Stephen, okay? Even though it is really his fault."

Lizzie mustered a half-grin with that, hoping that Ash would stop being all teenage-boy angry and just accept her apology for being, well, all teenage-girl finicky. It was the best she could do.\n\n

The twins smiled innocently at Elly. Identical grins, full of mystery and mischief. The youngest of nine, the two had learned that they could get away with just about anything. People either found them annoying or hilarious, but either way, they always ended up liking them.

It was something that just couldn't be helped.

"Oh? You have a type?" Matt asked, suddenly more interested in what Elly had to say than he ha been previously. He had been under the assumption that if Echo wasn't gay, then he was certainly with Elly, so Elly was no more than just another girl to Matt. Josh looked more amused than anything else, though he paid more attention to their sisters' moods than anyone really took notice of. It was easy to tell who was fooling who sometimes.

"Don't tell me, is your type tall, dark, and handsome?" Matt quipped. "Those guys are way over rated."

"What makes you think she likes brunettes? If Echo's not her type, wouldn't that rule them out?" Josh commented. Matt thought about it for a moment.

"True enough, but it rules us out as well." Matt added, looking a little downhearted, "Maybe she really likes blondes. Blue-eyed blondes. Most girls like types like that."

"Sad really, girls who only like a person on looks alone miss out on all the fun."

"Most especially when they discover said 'type of boy' is nothing more then empty space."

The boys were amusing themselves with their banter. Sofia was the type of girl would only went after boys who looked good. Maybe it was because she was a model and had a job where they judged her by her looks alone. The twins couldn't be so sure. Hannah had chosen Adam, she claims, because he was one of the few people who could ever beat her at chess. Jules, well, Jules is completely different and hard to figure out. And, as far as they were aware, Bella would choose a guy so long as he'd listen to her singing...and could stand to look at her.

Both twins didn't believe Elly to be the type to date someone on looks alone. "Maybe she liked the sensitive types, the types that wrote sonnets. Or maybe she liked the aggressive 'bad boy' types." Josh suggested.

"Or she likes the class clown or class president? OOO, or she likes the school Jock head since she seems to be one herself. Needs someone to spare with." Matt responded. Both twins or listing off the types that they would always hear their sisters going on and on about. On occasion, they would glance at Elly to see if anything hit correctly.\n\n

Elly

March 18, 2007 4:55 PM
“You have a type?” Matt asked in response to Elly’s comment about Echo.

“Of course I have a type,” Elly said, sounding a lot more sure than she felt. It wasn’t as though she had a preferred type, exactly. It was more like there were some people she knew she wouldn’t get along with, and they didn’t stand a chance. Everyone else was… well that was what dating was for, wasn’t it? That’s what Vicky had said, at any rate: you have boyfriends until you find one you like. Not ever having had a boyfriend, Elly wasn’t sure what her type was, or if she even had a type. Still, Matt and Josh seemed to have taken it upon them to discuss her preferences, anyway.

“What makes you think she likes brunettes? If Echo’s not her type, wouldn’t that rule them out?” Josh said.

“Not necessarily,” Elly said. After all, ruling out brunettes was limiting her selection somewhat drastically. And although the tall, dark handsome option did sound initially more appealing than the blonde-haired blue-eyed option, Elly liked to think she wasn’t so shallow that she’d judge people solely on appearances anyway.

“Maybe she likes the sensitive types, the types that write sonnets,” Josh suggested. Well, the sensitive bit might come in handy, but Elly doubted she’d have much patience for someone who wrote sonnets all the time. Limericks would be better, as at least she’d find some amusement from that. “Or maybe she likes the aggressive bad boy types?” Elly grinned; ‘bad boy’ sounded more fun than a sonnet writer.

“Or the class clown or class president?” Elly tilted her head to one side while she considered this. In last year’s yearbook she and Echo had been voted the class clowns, so maybe class clowns weren’t her type? But if she’d been asked outright, Elly probably would agree that she’d prefer someone who was light-hearted and playful than someone serious. Now she was getting confused. “… she likes the school Jock head since she seems to be one herself. Needs someone to spare with,” Matt said.

Elly took the opportunity to lean forward and smack Matt lightly upside his head. “Don’t call me a Jock,” she said without any real enthusiasm. “I don’t know what my type is, alright?” In fact, she was quite exhausted from thinking about all the different types the twins had reeled off. “And it’s no good a guy being great at Quidditch if he’s a total prat, is it?” she said, in an attempt to explain her indecision. “And someone I can have a laugh with is more important than whether or not he’s any good at sports, anyway.”

Zack Dill was back out of the medic’s tent. Elly was glad that he was okay, but she wasn’t sure he should continue playing having just fallen so far, though she had to admire his bravery. She idly wondered for how much longer this match would continue. In the mean time, it was definitely time to shift the conversation off her potential boyfriend types. She decided it was time the Santoros got a taste of their own medicine.

“So,” Elly said, tucking a stray orange ringlet back behind her ear, “you boys must have a type in mind, huh? Let me guess – small, blonde and smart. Am I right?” Elly was aware that she had just indirectly described Meredith, but Matt had definitely already called her cute, so it seemed as good a place to start as any. Besides, Elly could see no reason why any boy wouldn’t like Meredith – she was just fab.

Matt laughed through his wince as Elly smacked him on the back of the head. "Touched a nerve, did I?" Matt said through his laughter. "Only saying what's true. Girls who play sports are jocks right?" Matt asked between the two of them. Josh was one to agree, but he didn't just incase Elly planned on hitting him too.

It was amusing to the twins to see Elly all flustered about the whole conversation. Perhaps it was because they had been forced to listen as Sofia went on and on about boys or how Hannah was always telling Bella she had to shape up if she had any plans for a boy to be interested in her. Or how Mercedes always talked about how boys would oggle her but none of them made her heart swoon until Paco came around.

Girls were an abundance in the twins life and so were their weird habits and moods. It was probably why Matt was so at ease with them and why Josh was always so nervous. They were always around, giggling, playing with their hair, smiling brightly. They were a mystery wrapped up in a pretty little package.

Josh suddenly shouted again, "NICE SCORE CHRISSY!" Josh called to his house's prefect. This game was a rough one with equal intensity as last years Championship game. Josh was still cheering as Matt answered Elly.

"Nah, not really." Matt responded with ease. "I mean, blondes are cute, but we don't really care about hair color or anything like that." Matt paused in his speech and Josh took over.

"Our family's real big on togetherness, so the girl will have to be comfortable with large families."

"Dancing."

"Food."

"Spicey food." Matt corrected.

"It's probably easier to say what we don't like more so than what we do." Josh finally answered. "I like girls who are smart, but I don't think Matt really cares about that sort of stuff."

"It's true. But I like girls who know how to have fun."

"Humor is the only way we roll."

"Yeah, but you like 'em serious too."

"Sure, but not all the time. I mean, where's the fun if we don't laugh?" Josh commented.

"Fair enough." Matt answered. "But not the sort of girl who makes herself available to everyone. That's just...a total tease."

"Anyway, we don't subject oursevles to looks alone." Josh finally told Elly. "I mean, we aren't the best looking guys in our class, so if we only look at the physical stuff, it'll cut our chances with anyone."\n\n

Elly

March 19, 2007 7:01 PM
Elly ignored Matt’s further comments about her playing sports meant she was a jock, and Josh ignored his brother, too, which Elly thought was a wise move. She didn’t have natural violent tendencies, but she had been friends with Caedence for over a year, and was likely to react if provoked.

Matt responded to Elly’s quip about blondes by saying that although blondes were cute, he felt that neither he nor Josh judged people by appearance either, which for some reason made Elly feel much happier all of a sudden. The Santoro boys then listed several qualities they would appreciate in a potential girlfriend and, despite the list being quite long, Elly didn’t think they were being unreasonable. They hadn’t mentioned impossible attributes like ‘exceedingly beautiful’ or ‘extremely intelligent’ or ‘doesn’t talk too much’. Not that Elly had been expecting these answers, but it was refreshing to know that boys, well, some boys at least, didn’t expect perfection. Elly considered that as far as demands went, requiring a girl to like socialising and eating spicy food seemed more than reasonable. The only thing that discomfited Elly was the ease with which the twins were able to discuss their types and preferences, whereas Elly had been so unsure and ruffled. Was she just being too uptight about it all? That thought almost made her laugh – she was one of the most laid-back people she knew of and it was ridiculous for her to work herself up about a non-existent boyfriend. That was just silly.

There were at least a couple of points on which Elly agreed with the boys; the first was that appearances should not be important, and the second was that having fun and being able to laugh was essential. Elly nodded vigorously at these junctures to make her opinions known without interrupting their rapport.

“…we don’t subject ourselves to looks alone,” Josh said. “I mean, we aren’t the best looking boys in our class…”

“You aren’t the worst,” Elly said. It sort of sounded half-insult and half-compliment, but she hadn’t meant it to be either; it was merely her observation. Not that she’d really thought about it before, but Elly considered the boys now, and concluded that they really weren’t bad to look at. “Actually, you’re…” she trailed off. Of course as soon as Elly was aware of her thoughts, and what she had been about to say, she felt a familiar and incredibly unwelcome heat start to rise on her cheeks. What in the name of craziness was wrong with her today? She certainly didn’t fancy the Santoro boys. Elly thought she’d happily go back to discussing lesbianism if only to avoid the teasing that was bound to occur if either boy noticed she was blushing. Desperate to distract them, Elly turned to the game, and saw a streak of red that was the Crotalus Seeker flash across the sky. “I think she’s seen the Snitch,” Elly said, nodding towards the pitch.

Ash

April 05, 2007 5:28 PM
Ash wasn't going to stop yelling just because some stroppy girl - who was, in part, the cause for it - told him to. However, said stroppy girl didn't give him a whole lot of options by carrying on regardless, so he just crossed his arms over his chest and glared. This macho stance was rather destroyed by Lizzie grabbing him by the face, as he automatically let his arms go for balance, and his expression turned to one of surprise. He was even further surprised when she kissed him, but tried to cover it with a smirk that said he completely deserved it.

"Alright," he said, slightly begrudgingly, not wanting Lizzie to think she could manipulate him so easily with kisses (even though she probably could). He couldn't be bothered to argue though, especially as he'd said non-offensive things and she'd huffed off and then done nothing and she'd come back, so he was out of depth as to how arguing with girls worked. "Only cos I've got better things to do though," he told her, with a wink.

"By the way dude," he added to Stephen, "I kissed her first. She's only here cos she's come back for more," he said, giving Liz a little squeeze on the hip that either implied he was just being playful when he said that or was designed to keep her from being able to stalk off at his remark. "Where do you want to sit?" he asked her, rather hoping she suggested somewhere in the back row of the stands...\n\n

Lizzie

Lizzie was not so disillusioned about guys as to think that Ash would let her little stunt control the situation. Boys were that way, she supposed. Somehow, they felt like they needed to be in control of things. It was fine with Lizzie for Ash to think he was in control, because in all reality, Lizzie knew she could easily manipulate him with one bat of an eyelash.

It was a strange thing, being able to use her looks to her advantage; she'd always just been the little tag-along sister, the friend, whatever you wanted to call her, but Lizzie had never seen herself as the type of girl that would toy around with guys. That was, of course, until she had met John Phillips and realized the full potential of those baby blues of hers. Lizzie rolled her eyes at Ash's little cocky comment, not minding his hand on her hip.

"I don't really care," she replied to his question, flinging her hand nonchalantly upwards with an almost wicked glint in her eyes, "But we don't have to sit all the way up in the front, do we? I mean... there are plenty of seats up that way..."

"Well?" Lizzie gave Ash a look, then slipped her hand into his. Somewhere in the back of her mind, Lizzie knew the scandal of her current thoughts, but the overriding feeling of something finally going the way she wanted in life obliterated the notion. At that moment, she didn't care what anyone else had to say on the matter- afterall, life was hers for living and not anyone elses. \n\n
