Amy Fox

As the school year drew to an end, the Quidditch season quickly came to a close. Suddenly, and before most had expected it, it was time for the final match of the year. At the end of the day, there would be a winner for the Quidditch cup. March and April had faded away bringing warmer weather to the deserts of Arizona. As May began, the days seemed hotter than ever, the only solace being found in dawn or dusk.

The day of the game was no different. With the match beginning at around 9:00am that morning, Amy had stumbled out of bed and dressed in a hurry, only thirty minutes to spare before the crowds began entering the pitch. Bleary-eyed and yawning, she had tugged on her lightest set of robes and grabbed her bag as she exited her room.

The ground was covered in a light layer of dew; although she was fairly positive that it would be gone within the next hour. The sun was already rather warm and she was more than aware that it would only be warmer as the day progressed.

Dropping her bag in the middle of the pitch, Amy quickly moved to the shed, heaving the large chest of Quidditch balls onto the field as well. Letting the box drop with a muffled thump! beside her bag, Amy swiped at the already forming sheen of sweat on her forehead. It was going to be a hot day.

Moments later, she heard the sounds of approaching students and dropped to her knees, rummaging through her bag and removing any and all needed equipment for the game. Sooner, rather than later, the stands were filled and it time for the teams to enter the pitch.

Levitating her bag to the side, she grabbed her broom and moved to the center of the pitch. As the teams entered, she checked the chest of balls and then straightened. Once the teams were in hearing range, she called the captains over.

"Look, I know its going to be a hot one. Make sure that your teams understand this 'cause I don't want any of them passing out due to heat exhaustion. Anyways, same rules apply: if I see any dirty plays there'll be penalties. Don't push off the ground until all the balls have been released. It's the final match, as I know both of you know, so play your hardest. Now shake hands and get back over to your teams."

Without waiting, Amy walked over to the chest and began to release them one-by-one: the Snitch was first, followed by the Bludgers. Grabbing the Quaffle, Amy walked back to the center of the two teams. "Alright, on the count of three:

"One.

"Two.

"Three." As the ball left her fingers, Amy straddled her broom and pushed off into the air. The game had begun.

Kaylie Brockert, Teppenpaw Seeker

October 31, 2006 8:05 PM
Kaylie felt sick to her stomach. She thought she was going to throw up any moment. Sweat was beading her forehead and she wiped it with her sleeve, her clothing was already beginning to get soaked. The heat was getting to her already. She wasn't any more heat-sensitive than the average person but today was going to be a brutal one. Besides, Kaylie was a northern girl, who was unaccustomed to the desert heat. She could only hope that she'd catch the snitch and end it early, before the heat got too oppressive. She'd even informed her brother she wanted him to stay inside so he wouldn't have to be out in the sun. Kaylie didn't want him to get sick from the stifling weather.

She eyed her teammates as they got into position, particularily Pepper. The Keeper worried her more than the others, not because Kaylie didn't think Pepper was any good, it was just that she seemed so anxious in the last game. Really, she'd done just fine. Kaylie had every confidence in her. She just hoped nobody fainted or anything and Pepper already had seemed so nervous.

As the game began, Kaylie mounted her broom and took off after the small golden Snitch. Her head felt heavy, like she was in a fog. She was having a terrible time concentrating and the fact that she was truly feeling nauseous wasn't helping. She thought she was going to fall off her broom at any moment and her robes were getting more drenched by the moment. As soon as this was all over, Kaylie was going to take a shower and then collapse. If she could make it that long.

She thought she saw the Snitch over by the stands and tried to make it over there as quick as she could, though the mere motion of flying was getting to her. By the time Kaylie approached it, the Snitch had vanished and she couldn't see where it was.\n\n

Caedence Redoak pecari chaser extraordinare

Caedence was in a foul mood. Not only had she almost missed breakfast, yet again having to snag a pice of buttered toast but this time managing to gulp down a glass of orange juice as well, but she couldn't find her nice cool shirt to wear under her quidditch robes. Somewhere, she didn't know where, there was a very thin tanktop and shorts in her trunk. She had only packed it in case there was an occasion, such as this, that she needed it to keep cool under her robes. She couldn't find it, however, and so she had to throw on a black spaghetti strap shirt with flexible gym shorts. She hadn't had time to do her briad properly, so it was very loose by the time she got to the field. She ducked behind a few staands and re-did her hair when no one was looking adding her bejeweled clip to it. This wasn't a friendly match anymore; this was a battle.

Her robes were sticking to her body by the time she made it on the pitch. Re-tying her hair had cost her the begining of Coach Fox's speech. She came in at 'I dont want any of them passing out due to heat exhaustion.' She smirked to herself. Yeah, like she could ever become beaten by mere weather? It'd take more than this heat, however truly life threatening it was, to take her down! Or so she thought.

By the time she was in the air, she was wishing she had looked for her shirt the previous night. Her robes were already quite wet, and her thinking was starting to get rather sluggish. She ducked barely in time to dodge a speeding bludger and she almost ran into a fellow chaser. Well, she thought it was a fellow.

Because of this, you could see why it was no surprise she didn't realise it until she heard distant cheers from the Pecaris that she had the quaffle. She gave a small gasp of surprise and dimly recalled her mad dash to get at it. Well, this just wouldn't do! She had to think clearer. She wished she knew the spell to make water appear. For now, until she lost the ball, she just shook her head. She searched for a nearby teammate and, weither or not from sheer lack of judgment, she found none. So, she shook her head a last time and sped towards the goal keeping her eyes peeled. \n\n

Dalila Bastet, Chaser Teppenpaw

November 01, 2006 7:01 PM
Dalila trudged onto the field with the rest of the Teppenpaw team. She felt drops of sweat form on her upper lip and forehead and run down her face. She glanced up at the sun. It was intensely hot, but it was better than playing in the rain. Suddenly getting a brilliant idea, Dalila pulled out her wand- which she kept at her side at all times- ad tapped her glasses. They instantly darkened. Dalila smirked, thankful for that last trip to the optometrist, who had set that handy spell on her glasses.

On the count of three, Dalila launched herself into the air and relished in the breezes passing her, drying the sweat on her face. Her joy switched to determination when she glanced around for the quaffle and saw it in the hands of a Pecari chaser heading for the Teppenpaw goal. Dalila immediately sped up after her trying to somehow snatch the quaffle away. She found that no matter how she swerved, the quaffle was in too awkward a position to grab. Instead, Dalila sped up a bit more, urging her dilapidated school broom to it's peak and flew in front of the opposing chaser, blocking her path.\n\n

Lexi Stafford, Teppenpaw Beater

November 01, 2006 7:10 PM
While there were probably many negative adjectives that could be used to describe Lexi Stafford, stupid was not one of them. So as soon as she realized that Arizona weather had finally returned, she started pushing fluids. This game was without a doubt the biggest she’d played in her life, and the last thing she wanted was to become dehydrated, fall off her broom, and miss the whole thing. She’d done that once playing soccer, back when she was seven or so. Ben had been on the team, and he still brought it up occasionally. Now, when she had the upper-hand, was not a good time for doing something foolish.

So dehydration at least was taken care of. She probably could have drunk a bit more water, but then she might have exploded, which would defeat the purpose. And she’d slathered on several layers of sunscreen back in the locker room, because, easy as it was to forget about such things, Lexi really didn’t want to spend the last few days of her third year as a lobster. It was no joke, being a red-head in the middle of the Arizonian desert.

Once she’d finished with the standard ‘how-not-to-kill-yourself-through-your-own-stupidity’ procedure (she really didn’t want to have to deal with her father or grandfather if something did go wrong, since they of all people would know that she did know better), it was time for head out to the field. The ground at least had improved since their first game. Out of the many things Lexi didn’t like about playing sports, mud was probably right up there in the top two, second only to soccer moms with air-horns.

She scanned the stands as Fox spoke to the captains, still not fully focusing when Jake gave the standard ‘start-of-game’ spiel. She was a beater. Her instructions never really changed. Take out whoever she could, preferably the seeker or the keeper, but whoever was available. It was simple. It was logical. And she couldn’t wait to get on her broom at start again.

She took off once Fox blew the whistle, and almost lost her bat as soon as she left the ground. Muttering darkly, she glanced down at her hands to realize she’d forgotten the gloves she generally wore to help with her grip, and then cursed again. Of all the asinine things for her to have done, particularly on a day where it was so hot there was no way her hands weren’t going to be sweaty…but there wasn’t anything she could do about it now. She rubbed her right hand on her other sleeve as soon as she leveled out enough to be stable, still cursing her foolishness. She had a strong suspicion that if she actually did drop the bat, she would immediately descend to the hell that is urban legend, and would never, ever live it down.

Even with the potential for disaster, however, one good thing seemed to have come from her lapse in judgment. As soon as she had finished wiping off her hand, and had readjusted her bat so that, hopefully, it would stay where it was supposed to for the time being, a bludger had barreled her way, which meant she didn’t have to go search for one, and possibly have to fight it out with the Craven twins, one of whom she still disliked from back in first year. Her good luck continued, though, when she saw that, scant feet away, there was a Pecari chaser who’d just dodged it to get to the quaffle. This was almost too good to be true.

She hesitated a second, not sure whether she was really going to be able to do what she had in mind. While she was a naturally violent person when it came to sports, she’d never actually had an opportunity to hit someone from this close in a game, and she’d never quite felt comfortable hitting her teammates in practice. She’d feel incredibly guilty if she wounded one of them before a match, and she didn’t want to get kicked off the team for something like that, after all.

But then she remembered that this wasn’t just a match, this was the championship. And ethics and guilt were mutually exclusive with being a beater. So she braced herself, swung her bat, and heard it crack as it hit the bludger with an almost twisted glee. She watched it as it whooshed straight to the younger girl. From as close as the two of them were to each other, there was no way it could miss hitting her right in the back, unless the Pecari had heard the noise and turned to look at it, in which case it would get her in the chest, an even better outcome. And she knew from experience that the younger girl was going to be in a lot of pain when contact was made. She only hoped one of her teammates was on hand to take advantage of the situation as well.

Caedence pecari chaser

November 01, 2006 8:57 PM
Caedence braked as fast as humanly posible, but somehow managed to almost hit the other chaser in front of her. Stopping a few feet off to the other chaser's right, she barely managed to keep her grip on the ball. In fact, it was her signature beater gloves that was the only thing keeping her grip. She was bursting to shout many curse words and even hex her nose off her face, (which she couldn't do if she tried) but the familiar whistle of a bludger hit her ears.

Her brain, fuzzy from the heat, barely gave her reaction time on the oncoming bludger. She spun as fast as she could around, hoping to twist her waist to make a dodge that would make a contortionist jealous, but to no avail. The only result was that the bludger hit her arm with a sickening crack ! Luckily, the quaffle was tucked safe under her left arm. Looking from her position to the goal, mere feet away, she took careful aim and calculated her speed. She looked around once more, but no fellows were around to help her. She hurled the ball praying to whomever would listen that it would score.

Then she turned to look at her arm. She didn't know weither it was broken or not, but it felt like dead weight. She bent it by using her left arm to move it. Pain shot up her arm and she bit her lip to keep from crying out. By the looks, and feel, her arm had been snapped just on her elbow joint. Ouch. \n\n

Lizzie Lavine, Pecari Chaser

November 01, 2006 9:37 PM
The morning of the Championship game between Pecari and Teppenpaw dawned bright and hot, something that was just fine with Lizzie. In Louisiana, temperatures were hot and hotter, so heat was little more than a simple conidtion to Liz. All it meant was to wear enchanted self-wicking clothing to keep your skin cool and dry. Liz worked well, nay, thrived in the heat. It was playing in her own element.

Thus when the whistle blew at the start of the match, Liz's brain snapped into gear , following that illustrious leatherbound ball's trajectory. Landing in the arms of her teammate was a positive thing, Lizzie thought mildly to herself as she began to speed ahead as to set up a pass for Caedence. She was not far from the ball and her fellow chaser when a yellow robe streaked past, putting a tenacious defense on Caedence. Damn, she thought, annoyedly, This'll just make it that much harder to score... Only a moment passed after this thought appeared before the omnious whiz of a bludger zipped to Liz's left, centered on an all too familiar target- Caedence.

What was it with her? Had she angered the Bludger Gods, or the Beater Gods, for that matter? Whatever it was, Caedence sure had a knack for getting herself in trouble with those crazy speeding bullets. Hearing that sickening crack that was the younger player's arm doubtlessly breaking, Liz dropped lower for a recon mission of the quaffle, but in glancing back upwards, she saw it was unnecissary. Lizzie watched incredulously as Caedence tried, one-handedly, to shoot a goal. There was little to no chance that it could go in with a competent keeper at the hoops. However, all she could do was watch a hope the Keeper Gods were not as equally upset with her as the others. \n\n

Jake Santoro, Teppenpaw, Beater, Captain

November 02, 2006 1:01 AM
Jake stood still in the dorm room staring out onto the grounds below. Technically, because of where Teppenpaw was positioned within the school, these windows were really just charms to show what it was like outside the walls of the school. Jake didn't care though, it was enough to show him that it was going to be a perfect day. A perfectly hot day. Which could be a potential problem for his team. Well, both teams.

He was born in Los Angeles, so heat wasn't an issue for him, however, he knew that he had some teammates that were born further up north and not used to it being so hot. If they weren't careful and didn't drink enough fluids, Jake was surely going to lose someone due to heat exhaustion. That could hold a potention threat for Jake. But he didn't want to think too deeply about it.

Walking out onto the pitch with his team, Jake had to smile. He was proud of them for getting this far. All of them. "Alright guys, we can do this. Pepper, don't worry if they get a few scores on you, just try your best, Dalila, I've seen you in action, they play dirty, so be on guard. That goes for you too, Gil. You did real well in the last one, so I expect much the same for this one. Tals, keep 'em in line. Lex, do that thing you do...and Kaylie, just like last game, k?" Jake said, trying to be helpful but still Captain to his teammates. There was no determining exactly what the Cravens would do and Jake wanted to be sure that his team was ready for anything.

At the count of three, Jake took off into the sky, Beater bat in one hand while his other hand gripped his broomstick. His face was set with determination and the moment a bludger neared him, he took aim and whacked it in the direction of the Pecari seeker. Take out their seeker, no chance in winning. Take out their Keeper, more points for Teppenpaws. Take out their Captains, no one to block the bludgers. All he had to do was focus. One at a time. Just focus.

"LET'S DO THIS TEPPENPAW!" Jake yelled out, speeding off to catch himself another bludger to send to the Pecaris as a present. They could do this.

Tally Adams, Teppenpaw Chaser

November 05, 2006 12:07 AM
Tally couldn't believe that Teppenpaw was in the championship with the Pecaris. It seemed as though fate had been on their side during their last match with the Crotali (Chrissy still hasn't given her a good conversation since the match. Goes to show that that girl holds a grudge like no one else), but with the Pecari...there was no telling what might happen.

At least the weather was working for them. Course...that also means that it was working for the Pecari's as well. Ah well, Tally didn't have high expectations for the game. Pecari's had the Cravens, and Lizzie, and even Stephen was rather useful for the team. Not to say that the Teppenpaws didn't have a great team, because they did. Jake was a decent captain (not as competitive as Tally would like him to be), Dalila certainly had proved herself a great player these last couple of years, Lexi was an awesome Beater, a lot of force behind her hits, Gil was certainly giving it his all, and Pepper...well, when she was confident, she was a force to be reckened with. Tally suspected, Kaylie was good at her position because of her happy-go-lucky attitude at life. But, that was only speculation.

The heat would be a problem. Tally lived in Central New York, they were lucky if their summers hit 80 degrees. She was bound to be sweating like a nasty pig by the end of the match. Lovely. Stepping onto the pitch, Tally was most happy that she had pulled her long hair into a bun and wore a t-shirt beneath her uniform. This was going to be a long match and she wanted to be as comfortable as possible. Which was only wishful thinking in this heat. Tally could already feel the sweat puddles forming.

The game started and Tally found herself flying quickly into the air, if only to feel the breeze that it created. By the time she actually turned her attention to the game, some Pecari already had a hold of the quaffle. "Crap." Tally said through gritted teeth and sped off after them. Tally grinned seeing as Dalila already had the same train of thought as Tally did. Block. Protect Pepper at all costs. Seeing Dalila manuever herself around the players and assituate herself infront of the Pecari, Tally swong her broom around and outside of the mess in the center and pulled right so that she was near Pepper.

It was during this moment that time seemed to have slowed down to a complete stop. Lexi smacked a bludger so close to where the Pecari was that Tally winced at what she thought was bound to happen. Only, it didn't happen. Sure, the sickening creak was heard from even where Tally was positioned, but the girl kept going. Tally's green eyes went wide. How in the blazes was that girl still sitting on her broom? If Tally had been hit by a bludger hit at that distance...she would have been on the ground, crying. This girl...this...child was a freaking miracle!

And then, time returned to Tally and she found the quaffle making it's way directly towards her. Thankful that she had been smart enough to position herself next to Pepper, Tally shot for the quaffle. Lexi did a good job of slowly the miracle child down at least. Grabbing the quaffle, Tally pulled hard up so that she twisted and curved on her broom, flying higher over the other chaser. Straightening her broom, Tally took off for the opposite goals.

She wasn't going to just lay down and let the Pecari's win. Even if they did have Miracle Girl on their team.\n\n

Wolfe, Medic

November 05, 2006 1:35 AM
Wolfe watched incredulously as the game progressed. Of course he was a distance away from the players on the ground. He had no intention of falling to earth like some demented version of Icarus. Amy Fox was whizzing overhead. He just hoped that she was somehow bringing some semblance of order to the chaos that was Quidditch. ‘That woman is going to break her neck if she kept flying about in such a reckless manner,’ he thought as he tore his gaze from Fox.

He could not make sense of the game for all his trying. In point of fact, he had gone to the library shortly before the match to search for material that would help him to better understand the rules of the game. The best he had come up with was “Quidditch for Dummies”. Nic pulled at his stock as he flipped disinterestedly through the pages. He had no idea why there were so many balls involved. What was the point of having a quaffle if the snitch decided the winner of the game in virtually all instances?

He hardly noticed the cheers of the students or the buzz of the brooms as the rushed by. He did however hear a sickening snap causing the young medic to look up frantically searching for the source of the noise. The bone have completely shattered to make a sound like that. One of the girls had been struck by the distracter ball and still the child attempted to score.

He quickly untangled his limbs from the odd angle he had acquired to read the book whist watching the match. Rushing onto the field he waved his arms frantically at Referee Fox. Surely she would see him waving for her to stop the game! But time was scarce, so Wolfe did the only thing he could think of. Nic quickly cast the Sonorus charm on himself.

“Fox! Stop the match this instant! There is an injured student on the field.” His amplified voice brooked no opposition. Medical supply satchel in hand he scanned the sky for signs that Amy would stop the match so that the injured student could be taken off the field and treated.\n\n

Amy Fox

November 05, 2006 2:45 AM
The game seemed to be progressing along accordingly, at least in terms of a match between amateurs. Of course, both offense and defense seemed to be highly lacking in these games, plays seeming to come out of thin air and bludgers being hit at whim. But, students were successfully managing to pass the ball and the Beaters seemed to be holding their own. Obviously, the Seekers of each of the teams had to be adequate enough for them to have even made it to the championship.

Flying along side most of the plays, Amy whipped in and out, being sure to keep an eye out for any dirty plays. Of course, she knew that they couldn't be called dirty if she didn't seem them. If the player had been a little bit more professional, tricks would have been chanced from time to time- and some would have slipped through unnoticed.

Following the Pec chaser, Amy watched as one of the Paw's began to block her, slowing the other player effectively. It was then that she noticed the Beater taking advantage of the situation and slugging a Bludger in the direction of the girl in possession of the ball. Amy waited for the impact, which was inevitable, to come. The loud cracking noise gave away the obvious contact of human with metal, a sound that Amy was more than immune to. Her brows raised as the girl not only managed to maintain her balance- quite a feat even for most professionals of the sport; had this girl played often before her first year?- but also quickly shook it off and tried to score.

Shock, she told herself. The child must be in shock. Otherwise she'd be blubbering like the baby that she is.

She turned to look at the twin captains of the Pec team, in a ways to acknowledge the fact that she knew one of their players was injured. As she has previously informed them, if they wanted her off the field, they'd have to replace her because she'd be darned if she was going to stop the game. It was then that she heard it or, rather, him.

“Fox! Stop the match this instant! There is an injured student on the field.”

Rolling her eyes, Amy's hands clenched into fists as she reminded herself that injuring the medic wasn't good showmanship. She breathed in deeply, once, twice. Honestly, what was it about the words 'I won't stop the match for anything' that people just didn't seem to comprehend?

Realizing that she had an audience, and the game had most likely come to some sort of a pause, Amy pulled around and headed toward the ground. Reaching the medic, she once again fought the urge to pummel the sorry jerk. "I thought I made it clear that I wasn't going to stop the matches," she grated out. "Can't you just- I don't know- remove them without interfering with the games, Wolfe?"

Huffing, Amy signalled for the injured Pec to make her way to the ground. "Take her if you need her, but please don't interrupt my blasted matches anymore. Got it?" \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

OOC - a forward slash in the prematch speech indicates a switch between speaker. I did it that way because I didn't want it to be taking up loads of half lines.

IC
The twins were proud as hell of their team. They knew they could kick butt, but it was always good to hammer it home. Ok, it had been against the bookworm team, but victory was victory. It was slightly odd that the final was against Teppenpaw, because since when did sweetness and cuuddles make champions?

"Ok team," they had addressed the assembled members in the changing rooms, "You'd think on paper that Teppenpaw would be a walk over/ but they have got to the final/ so don't underestimate them./I'm sure you've all heard the rumour that their Keeper couldn't even catch her own shoe./ Try to psych her out, it'll make your job easier/ and it's part of sport, so don't go all wussy and think it's unfair or some other crap. / Keep your fluids up, if any of you f*** up from the heat or collapse, you're in trouble./ Pecari is easily the best team in the school/ so let's go out there and prove it!"

Once on the pitch - and through the whole boring 'I want a clean match even though I'm a violent and unfair cow' and handshake bit - the twins split in the opposite direction to their previous match; Sorrel went for the Seekers, whilst Ash focused on the match below. They'd barely had time to lock on to targets before he heard a thunk of wood on metal. He sped after the noise, but it had been so close to Caedence that there was nothing he could do. She twisted, but not far enough. Honestly, that girl was a Bludger magnet! For someone who claimed to be a Beater, she wasn't very tuned in to the Bludgers. He backhanded it away, in the general direction of their Chasers, flying in closer to Caedence.

"Good job," he patted her on her good arm after she shot for goal. A weak shot, and she'd have done better to pass, but... "You know the b**** won't let us st-" From below, a magnified voice came, demanding a halt. The coach swooped down. He couldn't hear what she was saying, but was sure it affected his team. He whistled loudly, beckoning Sorrel to babysit anything that carried on here (taking out the Seeker could wait, over protecting the rest of their own team) whilst he went down to hear what was going on.

'Take her if you need her but blah blah blah, I'm the Queen of Everything.'

"Hey, just a second," he called out, catching up to Fox. "You can't order someone to remove one of our players from the pitch!" he said hotly, "Yeah, I want her to get medical attention, but if you're not going to stop the game, or even let her back on afterwards, then you don't have the right to choose to get rid of her! So before you start ordering my players off the pitch, I want to know the conditions - what that means!" \n\n

Nicolas Augustine Wolfe, Medic

He watched Fox descend. He noted the fury on her face, and thought that she was heading straight for a heart attack.

"I thought I made it clear that I wasn't going to stop the matches. Can't you just- I don't know- remove them without interfering with the games, Wolfe?"

Wolfe was sure she was ignoring his order completely until he caught her as she signaled for the student. "Take her if you need her, but please don't interrupt my blasted matches anymore. Got it?"

Shocked momentarily Nic let his mouth fall open slightly before remembering himself. Fox was not a reasonable woman, so he would have to be simple and direct. "If your players don't come down to the medical tent to be treated, then I will stop the game Miss Fox. No amount of fanaticism on your part will induce me to buy into a barbaric practice where an injured child is ignored all for the sake of the game." He took a deep, calming breath. He was sure she would retaliate shortly, but there was the student to worry about. Wolfe could push the arrogant Quidditch referee from his mind for the time being and concentrate on what really mattered: the wellness of the children.

‘The child should be on the ground by now,' he thought. He glanced at the sky searching for some indication that the student was coming down for treatment. He watched the wrong student leave the skies and join them on the ground.

"Hey, just a second. You can't order someone to remove one of our players from the pitch! Yeah, I want her to get medical attention, but if you're not going to stop the game, or even let her back on afterwards, then you don't have the right to choose to get rid of her! So before you start ordering my players off the pitch, I want to know the conditions - what that means!"

The child showed a remarkable lack of courtesy to a professor. “Young man, you will respect your professors and lower your tone of voice. You will also address a professor by their title as fitting their station.” The etiquette lesson rolled off before he even had a chance to think. The child’s manners were appalling. Still, he continued. “I can order a child off the field if injured as can Professor Fox. You, sir, have no right to be down here arguing facts. You should have points taken away from your House for addressing a professor in a disrespectful manner.” Wolfe paused to let his words sink in.

“And if you care about your teammate’s wellbeing as you claim you do, it would behoove you to get her off the field. A bone can shatter into tiny fragments when hit hard enough in a certain way. Those fragments can travel through the bloodstream causing blood clots throughout the body. A blood clot in a leg at the right spot can mean you lose all ability to use your leg. Or let’s talk about the worse case scenario, shall we? One of those tiny little fragments of bone could travel throughout the body and get lodged in the heart. The bone blocks the valves and the heart stops beating. No heartbeat, no life. Got it, Mr. Craven?” He had been dispassionately rattling off medical facts for far too long. The child’s health was at stake here. Someone had to get her out of the sky. If he had to petrify the girl he would.

Lexi, Teppenpaw beater

November 05, 2006 1:15 PM
It probably was a sick and twisted reaction, but Lexi found immense pleasure in watching the bludger hit the first year soundly on the arm. She was rather amazed that the girl didn’t drop the quaffle, particularly as the crack indicated at least a fracture, if not an outright break, and she also wasn’t quite sure how the quaffle got from one position on the girl’s body to another, but nothing occurring after the bludger was hit really mattered to her. Even as Caedance tossed the ball towards to go, Lexi had hardly turned away from her rather remarkable handiwork to find a new target. (She saw no shame in her dark and twisty mentality when it came to sports. Actually, she was rather proud of that side of herself. And it wasn’t like the other girl couldn’t receive medical help anyway, so Lexi technically hadn’t done anything wrong. Or at least that’s what she continued to tell herself.)

Scanning the field, she noticed another of the Pecari chasers hovering near the goals. While this one wasn’t an immediate threat, since Tally had come through for the team and gotten the quaffle before it could even reach Pepper, it still didn’t seem a good idea to allow someone to remain so close to the hoops, or even be in a position to steal the ball from Tally. Then, considering the matter, Lexi was struck by a master plan. She would let Jake worry about the seeker and the keeper. Her new goal was to try and take and take out the entire Pecari chaser squad. She felt it would be a worthy challenge.

So she flew over to the bludger that had just so grievously interrupted Caedance’s spring towards the goal posts. It had the potential to become her favorite ball of all time. She was stricken with an urge to name it. Spike sounded good. The bludger was, after all, no more insane than most of the animals she’d adopted over time, and it was easy to be overcome with affection for something that she came into contact with so often.

Lost in thought, she finally reached her destination only to nearly get herself unseated by the very bludger she was thinking of so fondly, much to her own chagrin. This game obviously wasn’t going to be remembered as a shining example of her skills. She’d be lucky if she didn’t have nightmares. But at least nearly getting hit put her focus back where it should have been- on the raven-haired girl just begging to be attacked.

This shot wasn’t quite as perfect as the one on Caedance had been. She was much farther away, her aim was naturally going to be a little more off, the bludger wouldn’t strike as hard, if she managed to get a hit at all. After all, if the fourth year noticed the bludger, she would have much more time to move out of the way. But the older girl seemed preoccupied with whatever was going on between the medic, the coach, the male Craven, and Caedance. So Lexi muttered a quick prayer to whatever beater or bludger gods may have been listening (it couldn’t hurt, and the last thing one wanted to do was offend them, if they did exist), and swung. It was a fairly good smack, and it looked like it would hit the firl if she didn’t move. Two down, one to go she thought triumphantly, and then turned to find her final target.

Again she felt the annoying twinge of her conscience, although this time it happened when there was nothing that could be done about it. The Pecari beaters seemed to be preoccupied, and there was so much going on that it seemed almost unfair to be taking advantage of the distraction she’d indirectly caused to try and wound someone else. But then her logical side told her that was silly. Coach Fox hadn’t blown the whistle or called a time out, so everything was still fair. It wasn’t her fault that the Pecaris weren’t paying attention. She still decided she might go apologize to Caedance after the game, just for good sportsmanship, and all.

Lizzie, Pecari Chaser

November 05, 2006 1:27 PM
The present scene was chaotic: people were yelling, others flying around, and somehow Wolfe was trying to stop the game to get Caedence off the field. Lizzie shifted her gaze from the quaffle to the ensuing movements of players. The Cravens were in view as well as Caedence with what had to be a broken arm. With a slight grimace, Lizzie tossed around the idea of going over and checking on the younger player. She turned fully towards the medic and the arguement going on there and watched as Sorrel shifted downwards nearer to Liz's position. This was more than just typical quidditch- everything was coming part with all the action going on, and Lizzie was watching the action more than paying attention to the game.

Liz had only lost concentration for a moment before a familiar sickening whiz of a speeding bludger met her ears. Lizzie looked left and right, a last ditch attempt at avoiding disaster, but she lacked the time to look behind her. The moment the tough metal ball made contact with her back of her head, a small gasp escaped Lizzie's lips. The momentum of the ball was such that Liz was jolted forward on her broom on impact. The immense feeling of pain registering at once caused everything to go black in front of Lizzie's eyes. Liz vaguely recognized the fact that she was losing control of herself as her arm muscles relaxed, her hands released the broom, and she slipped sideways off of the wooden handle. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Things were quickly falling apart. Wolfe, the jerk, had interfered in the championship game to pull an injured player off the field, something she could have cared less about. In truth, if the kid had wanted to play through the hurt, Amy would have let her.

But the medic was...well, the medic and she really had no choice of whom he decided to pull of the pitch. She listened as he smoothly responded to her, enlisting emotional appeals that he should've known better than to think she had. She couldn't care less if he thought the game was barbaric, it was. That was the point. And yes, students were ignored for the sake of the game, it was Quidditch, it had metal balls, people were bound to be injured.

She was just about to respond when another voice broke into the conversation. It was then that one of the twin captains- the boy, she noticed- started putting up an argument. Rolling her eyes heavenward and silently asking what she had done to deserve this, she turned toward the obviously irate captain.

Wolfe, however, seemed to have beat her to a response. Her eyebrow raised in amusement as he berated the student on the rules of ediquette, on a Quidditch pitch no less. She was just about to add in her own two cents when Wolfe decided to continue on, ennumerating the terrible things that could happen to the student if she were to stay on the pitch. Rolling her eyes, Amy waited until the break in conversation before addressing the student.

"Yeah," she added in absentminded agreement. "Listen kid, I'm not the one ordering it so don't go spouting off to me about it. The medic here obviously wants the girl off the pitch and so she's gone. And personally, I don't care what you think about the decision. If you haven't noticed, I'm the professor here and you're the student. Basically, what I say on this pitch is law, got it?"

Taking a moment to look back a Wolfe, he was still a putz even if he had decided to 'stand up' for her, she glared slightly before turning back to the student. "And it means that you're either going to have to put your replacement on the field, if you have one, or be a player short. The girl has a broken arm, or whatever, and the medic has decided to pull her off the pitch. The end. Finito. Thank you and goodbye."

Gil Idoya, Teppenpaw Chaser

November 05, 2006 2:02 PM
The championship day dawned hot and clear--perfect flying weather, in Gil's opinion. He wore a pair of shorts and his lightest tee shirt under his robes, and a pair of Teva sandals that his cousin Alejandro, who often associated with Muggles, had bought him. The nervousness that had plagued him before the Teppenpaw-Crotalus match seemed to have worn off completely, as well, much to his delight; he shifted his weight impatiently from foot to foot, waiting for Coach Fox to finish with the lecture and count them off. One... two... three... Gil shot off after the rest of his team, beaming as the warm wind rushed past him.

The first part of the game was pretty uneventful. Gil never really found himself in a position to grab the Quaffle, so he settled for weaving in and out of the Pecari chasers as best he could to slow them down or distract them. Then came all the fuss over Caedance--the medic storming the field, Coach Fox throwing a fit with the male Pecari captain not far behind, yadda yadda yadda... there were enough people distracted, so Gil turned his attention back to the game, and started to follow Tally, trying to stay open so she could pass if necessary.

He hadn't gone more than a few yards when another sickening crack caught his attention. He looked back to see one of the Pecari Chasers--Lizzie, he thought her name was--lurch forward on her broom, then began to slide. "Dios mio!" Gil shouted, reversing quickly. Game or not, opponent or not, Lizzie was awfully high and the Bludger seemed to have hit her in the head--and if Jake had a problem with that, well, then he could jump off a cliff for all Gil cared.

He sped back towards Lizzie and gripped his broom tightly between his legs, fervently thanking Merlin that Alejandro had thought it a good idea to teach Gil how to fly handless. Of course, then it had only been as a cool trick--now, though, it allowed Gil to maneuver his broom beside the injured Pecari, keep it steady, and reach out with both hands to try to steady her on her own broom. "Are you okay?" he demanded, voice high and panicky as he struggled to keep the older girl from falling. "Lizzie, are you all right?"

Without even waiting for her to answer, he slid closer to her, hugging the injured girl against his smaller body, and reached out with his free hand towards her broom, angling it downward ever so slightly. If he managed to get them both to the ground without falling, he'd say a hundred Hail Marys and another hundred Our Fathers, he promised himself. Please please please please please let us not die, he thought desperately as they slowly descended.

"Someone HELP!" he shouted at the top of his lungs.\n\n

Jake had been completely busy trying to keep track of the bludgers when all hell had seemingly broken loose. Hearing the crack of body meet metal, Jake turned quickly in his seat to find out what was going on. It looks as though one of the Pecari chasers had been taken out by a bludger hit by Lexi...or, maybe not taken out, but pretty close to it.

However, seeing as Tally had the quaffle, Jake turned back in search for a bludger to get in contact with. He had only just spotted another bludger when a voice penetrated his thoughts. The medic had run onto the pitch. Unsure of whether or not the game had been placed on hold, Jake stopped his broom and looked down at the pitch. It didn't look as though anything was on hold. Shrugging, Jake took aim at the Pecari seeker and smashed the metal bludger in her direction.

Turning, Jake one again heard the familiar sound of body meet bludger. Turning, Jake expected to see the Seeker, only, it wasn't. It was Lizzie. For a moment Jake stared in silent shock as his friend slipped from her broom. This was the roughest game of Quidditch Jake had ever been a witness to. Lexi was one scary girl when she had a bludger in her hand.

Jake jumped back into moving when Gil rushed to Lizzie's aid and then called for help. Leaning forward on his broom, Jake took off to help his teammate and his friend. "Lexi, look after the team!" Jake shouted as he streaked past her, leveling off when he reached the other side of Lizzie and helped Gil pull her upright onto her broom and trying to keep her steady with his own weight. "Nice catch, Gil." Jake said through gritted teeth, grabbing Lizzie's broom with a free hand to slow them down even more.

"Come on, Lizzie, I know your head is thicker than that."\n\n

Having finished her little tirade on the Pec captain, she wasted little time to once again try and flag over the injured player. Honestly, what was taking the child so long? There was a game to be played and she was tired of waiting.

It was then that she heard it, another sickening crack followed by quite a bit more commotion. Looking over her shoulder, Amy noticed a player begin to slip off her broom and any manner of curse words quickly slipped out of her mouth. Without a second glance at the medic, Amy flew towards the scene of the crime.

Luckily one of the other players got there before she did, as well as the Paw's captain. Coming closer, Amy frowned. What had happened? Didn't the players realize that the game had stopped?

Reaching the trio, Amy noticed that the girl was out for the count. Sighing, she looked at the two boys for some sort of an answer. "We need to get her down to the pitch," she finally stated. "What happened here? Who hit that Bludger? I thought it was pretty obvious that the game had paused when the medic yelled for it."

Looking at the captain, she pursed her lips. "We'll get her down to the pitch first but please note that if one of your players hit a Bludger at her while the game was stopped, I will put a penalty on your team."\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Caedence

November 05, 2006 5:38 PM
OOC: I am SO sorry! I had to spend the night at a friends house, who didn't have a computer. I am SO SO SO SO SO SO sorry!

IC: Caedence but on a brave grin, "That was a lousy shot and you kno-" she broke off when she heard an unfamiliar voice calling the game to stop. She tried watching the game and the medic, who was now arguing with the coach. Unfortunatly, her arm's throbbing and the heat caused her brain to not want to multi-task. "What if I dont want to!?" she hollered.

Rolling her eyes she added soon after, while the medic continued arguing, now with that craven guy. "FINE! FINE FINE FINE! I'M COMING! BUT I COULD HAVE STAYED ON! I SHOT AT THE GOAL DIDN'T I?" she bellowed, "But fine, I'll come!" she hollered less loudly.

Making a steep decent, she pulled out of it gradually, so as not to injure her arm further. When she was on the pitch she dismounted in a huff. "It's ok, Craven, Go on, the team needs you," she assured her captain. Then she turned to Wolfe, barely controling her fury. 'A teacher...a teacher...' she repeated over and over in her head.

"Sir, not to..uh.. discount your concern, but could this wait? Coach Fox does have a point, this is the championship. I wont stop you from keping me down here, if you must sir, but it's only a broken arm." she lifted it up to show him biting her lip to keep from crying out. It hung limply. "See? Just broken. Not chopped off or anything. Fix it if you must, but can I at least get back in the game A.s.a.p?" as an after-thought she added, "sir?"\n\n

Nicolas Wolfe, Medic

November 05, 2006 10:35 PM
Wolfe breathed a sigh of relief when the child dropped out of the sky. The only problem was she was running her mouth in a most unladylike fashion; thus, thoroughly disrespecting her elders.

"Sir, not to uh, discount your concern, but could this wait? Coach Fox does have a point; this is the championship. I won’t stop you from keeping me down here, if you must sir, but it's only a broken arm." He watched as she lifted the limp limb up to show him biting her lip. "See? Just broken, not chopped off or anything. Fix it if you must, but can I at least get back in the game A.S.A.P. Sir?"

Clearly the child was not in need of a stretcher to get off the Pitch. He did an initial examination of the proffered arm taking care not to jar it. It looked like a simple fracture, but he would have to scan for dislodged fragments that might cause trouble at a later time.

“You, my dear, are out for the remainder of the match. This cannot wait and I will not risk you breaking a bone five minutes after I’ve healed the wound.” He thought she would protest, so he did not hesitate to add: “If you are disrespectful to a staff member again I will be forced to take points away from your house.” He was still bending over the wound while talking, but now he looked at the student eye to eye. “I am sure your housemates would be very upset with you should this happen.”

He stepped back and pointed his wand at the student’s injured arm. “Episkey,” Wolfe said in a steady tone. He watched a warm glow surround the wound as the bone healed. The glow wasn’t strictly necessary, but the medic always found it to be helpful if the patient could see a visible sign that a spell was working.

“Now, Miss Redoak. If you would allow me to escort you off the field the game can resume.” He offered the student his arm. “You will enjoy watching your teammates from the medical tent I am sure. If it does not suit you, I can have another professor escort you to the hospital wing where you will remain under observation.” His tone suggested that the girl had no chance of getting back onto the game.

Caedence Redoak

Caedence was all bud containing her fury. The threat of loosing house points was all that was keeping her in check. She watched as the medic healed her arm. Fidgeting slightly, she tried to contain her temper. 'Careful...Elly might be out there. She wouldn't like you blowing up on the medic..careful' she reminded herself over and over again.

"Sir," she finally said when she could stop herself no more, "I do not mean to disrespect you or talk in a manner that would make you think I was. I merely wanted to get back on my broom. You see, the Cravens are counting on me. Lizzie, Saul, Stephen...everyone. This is...well...this is the championship. That is all. I just...well I dont know, I dont want to let them all down sir." She looked at Wolfe with what she hoped was a look of not only respect but pleading.

As an afterthought, she said, "Sir, I respect your decision weither it is to keep me out or not- Oh my gosh is that LIZZIE!?!" she yelled the latter pointing up at the sky. Indeed, a second chaser overhead was injured. It looked like she had a cuncusion. Coach Fox was also up there, yelling at the other player. "sir! Sir! Lizzie! She got hit in the head! Oh we're going to lose for sure! Oh no. oh no!" she said repeating the last two words over and over again. Tossing her broom to the ground she rushed closer to the field. "LIZZIE YOU BETTER GET YOUR SORRY BUTT CONCIOUS OR I'LL GET UP THERE AND MAKE YOU!" she bellowed not knowing or caring if Lizzie could hear her. Her arm, she dimly noticed, didn't hurt as much anymore. \n\n

While I love to see your enthusiasm on the pitch, please remember to take a couple of moments to check your spelling and grammar before posting. This not only helps you, but helps your team as well as both spelling and grammar play a part in the point giving for the match.

Once again, I enjoy your enthusiasm, but please remember to be mindful.

"Sir, I do not mean to disrespect you or talk in a manner that would make you think I was. I merely wanted to get back on my broom. You see, the Cravens are counting on me. Lizzie, Saul, Stephen...everyone. This is...well...this is the championship. That is all. I just...well I don’t know, I don’t want to let them all down sir." She looked at Wolfe with a look he interpreted to say: ‘I’m sucking up so you’ll let me get my way.’

He was tuning her incessant chatter out whilst searching through his vilest tasting potions for a restorative draught. No amount of pleading would change his mind for he had a will of iron, and Wolfe never missed an opportunity to vex Fox. No doubt this young one would complain to the Quidditch professor profusely after the match finished.

“Lizzie!” There was no way he could miss the scream. He would have ask the other professors if they had as much trouble with volume levels as he did. He lifted an arm to stop the student in his care, but did not stop her from rushing onto the field. Turning around he saw what the commotion was. Another student had been injuring during the fray.

Rushing back onto the field Wolfe wasted no time. “What happened here?” Not waiting for a reply he performed a simple diagnostic spell. From the assessment he ascertained that the second student had a concussion. Again he pointed his wand at a student. “Mobilicorpus,” he cast the spell with efficiency rather than finesse. He walked while the student floated to the medical tent. ‘One more out of the game then,” he thought to himself. One more spell to perform, “Rennervate,” before he could get down to business. “Now, my dear. You’ve had a nasty fall. How are you feeling?” He busied himself with ice packs to reduce the swelling.

“Do not think that you are off the hook, Miss Redoak,” he smoothly addressed the first injured player. “You will remain in the tent with your classmate. Both of you need to rest.” He handed Miss Redoak the restorative draught he had been searching for before the second emergency of the day. "Drink up."\n\n

A few brief moments after being caught by Jake and Gil, the hazy fog that had surrounded Lizzie finally lifted with Wolfe's re-awakening spell. Feeling the then slightly subdued throbbing pain in the back of her head, Liz opened her blue eyes slowly. The light outside on the pitch was bright to her senses, causing her to squint just to see Wolfe before her. With a low moan, Lizzie rubbed her eyes and face as the medic packed ice around her.

"...You've had a nasty fall. How are you feeling?" Wolfe asked. She attempted to respond, yet the next moment she found the medic had moved onto help Caedence with something. For an instant, Liz wondered what had happened to the younger Chaser. She then remembered what had happened minutes prior to getting hit in the head, and that sickening crunch of metal and bones. Lizzie closed her eyes again, hoping for a little rest or some relief of the pain in the back of her head.

"Ow," was all she could finally muster up for Wolfe, a simple yet pithy quote for her current situation. With her eyes closed, Lizzie vaguely wondered about how her brothers would have a fit if they found out she'd been hit in a game... \n\n

Dalila had been busy keeping an eye on the quaffle, but it hard to ignore the sound of a bludger hitting a body. She glanced around to make sure it was someone on her team. Kaylie? Check. Captain Jake? Check. Gil and Tally? Double check. Pepper? Check. Aaannnd Lexi...check. Dalila sighed and felt the lump on the back of her head, wincing slightly. She didn't need anyone else on her team with horrible headaches. But who got hit? Dalila looked towards the ground and saw Coach Fox, the medic and one of the Craven twins arguing about something which she couldn't quite hear.

Dalila shrugged and zoomed down the field a bit, wondering why so many people had just suddenly stopped playing. She scrunched her eyes against the sun, trying to find the reason when a Pecari chaser nearby from her took a bludger to the head right before her eyes. Dalila shrieked but by the time she managed to get a hold of herself and race to get her, Captain Jake and Gil were gently floating her towards the ground. Dalila joined them on the ground and ran to where the unconscious girl was being magicked to the medic's tent.

Is she gonna be okay? What's gonna happen with the game? Why was Ash and Coach Fox arguing with the medic? Did I miss something?"\n\n

((OOC: Sorry if this seems all flubbered up, I'm trying to incorporate the medic's, Lizzie's, Coach's, and Dalila's posts into this one. BIC:))

Jake wasn't surprised to find the Coach floating beside them and questioning what had happened. Jake hadn't been focused on what had occurred until after it had occurred, so he was only going on guess work, but, struggling to keep Lizzie's weight even on her broom while they lowered her to the ground, kept him from responding.

It didn't, however, keep him from frowning when the Coach said they would receive a penalty. It wasn't as if she had officially blew the whistle to signify a pause in the game. People scream out to stop the game all the time if players were injured, they were trained not to listen to those yells, but only to the whistle. He would have made that argument, but worried that it would only cause more trouble for his team.

As soon as they landed on the ground, the medic took over. Jake sagged slightly and stretched his muscles. "Good job, Gil." Jake said to his youngest team member. Suddenly, another yellow colored member raced by him. Dalila. Jake sighed. That girl always did what she wanted without thinking. Jake pat Gil's shoulder, "Go ahead and get back in the air, no saying when the game will resume." Jake said, leaving Gil on the pitch and wandered over to the medic tent to grab Dalila.

"Dalila..." Jake began, sounding slightly exasperated. "Would you let the good Medic do his job and look after Lizzie here?" Jake asked the girl, wrapping an arm around her shoulders to help guide her from the tent. "As of right now the game is on hold, but I need you in the air with the rest of the team. The coach can resume it at any time. It's none of your concern as to why Ash or anyone was arguing. I just need you to focus on the quaffle. Okay?" Jake's voice was polite, but firm. She would have to remember not to be so rash in her actions. What if the Coach had resumed the game while Dalila was running around on the ground and Jake and Gil had been busy with Lizzie?

"Come on, let's go." Jake said, gently nudging her towards where her broom was laying. "Feel better, Lizzie." Jake said in farewell before heading for him own broom.\n\n

Caedence

Caedence glared fiercly at Wolfe when his back was turned. Who was he to say she wasn't to get back on the pitch. Some medic! That's who! Growling lowly she watched as he levetated Lizze down and awakened her. Then, she realised something was being shoved in her hands. Raising one eyebrow, she muttered, "I have to drink this vile thing?" trying not to make Wolfe hear her. "Bottoms up," she added gulping it down. It was, by far, the most awful thing she tasted. Shuddering, with her lips puckered up against the taste, she turned to see how Lizzie was doing.

"'Ow'?! Ow is all you can say!? How in the world did you get yourself hit in the head? Duck, Lizzie! You do know that the twins are going to have a field day. Both chasers out, one of which was kocked out of play by a foul. Dear me, if we win, with just Saul, it'll be a miracle!" She said exasparatedly. Dimly, she woundered where in the world the other chaser was. She couldn't see the players due to the glare of the sun, so she said, "When you feel up to it, I'm going to wait in the tent. Thank-you sir for helping me out. No more arguing from me," and walked into the medic tent.\n\n

The scorching heat was making Kaylie's stomach queasy and her thinking unbelievably slow. Her golden hair was hanging in a limp damp ponytail and her tank-top was soaked through. She felt like reality had been altered and this was just some miserable dream she was moving through. Her head hurt and she felt incredibly sleepy.

Elsewhere on the pitch, there seemed to be quite a bit of commotion going on. Kaylie only had the dimmest realization of what was happening. Less people were in the air. Two people had been hurt, both of them Pecari chasers. Some of her own teammates seemed to be down there as well but they seemed to be fine. However, this all registered in Kaylie's brain about as well as the instructions for a complex potion. She wasn't quite sure how they'd been hurt, she'd missed all that, searching for the Snitch. Perhaps they had fainted and fallen off their broom, like Kaylie felt she was going to.

Out of the corner of her eye, Kaylie spotted something golden and small, flying around near the injured players. She began to fly toward it, when she saw another golden item , over near the Teppenpaw goal post. She looked back and forth. How could there be two snitches? One was probably a halluncination. Which was the real one? She sat there trying to make up her mind. Before Kaylie knew it, both were gone. She sighed and went back to her search, all the while trying to keep from puking.\n\n

Amy followed the trio to the ground, hoping that Wolfe wasn't so involved in himself that he failed to notice yet another injured student. The Pecs were now down two players, Chasers at that, and she knew that the captains were going to throw a fit. Rubbing the bridge of her nose, Amy stepped to the side as Wolfe rushed over and began checking the head case.

Noting that there was still some portion of a play going on up in the air, Amy rolled her eyes and cast a Sonorus. "For those of you who failed to notice it," she yelled up to the students in the air, "the game is currently stopped so stop playing."

Amy followed Wolfe and the injured players to show some semblance of caring that the players were injured. Rubbing her temples she listened impatiently as the first of the two injured students ranted on and on to the second one. Making sure she had removed the Sonorus, she turned to the irate student and rolled her eyes. "Listen kid, no one wants to hear you ramble on and on and on. You're out for the game, accept it and suck it up. If I hear you again, I'm going to take so many points off of your house that you'll never have the chance to win, got me?"

This game was turning out horribly. It was supposed to be the championship and instead it seemed more like a battle. People were getting knocked out left and right and the game had hardly been in play. Taking one last moment to check to see that everyone was going to live, and ignoring pretty much everyone in the tent beyond that, Amy returned to the pitch and mounted her broom once more.

Rising in the air, Amy cast another Sonorus upon herself. "Penalty on the..." Here she could be heard coughing slightly. "...Teppenpaws. The..." Another pause. "...Pecaris have a penalty shot and then the game will start once more."

Removing the Sonorus, she frowned and instructed the remaining Pecari Chaser to obtain possession of the Quaffle. The game was about to resume.\n\n

Kaylie

November 10, 2006 11:27 PM
Her stomach lurched. Kaylie put her hand up to her mouth to keep her breakfast from reappearing and sloshing all over the Pitch while the other had clutched tightly to the broom. She wasn't entirely sure there wasn't anyone below her either. For all she knew, she was directly over the medical tent the two Pecari chasers were in. It was hard enough to keep her mind on the Snitch and the game without worrying about what she was flying over. Kaylie would die if the whole school saw her throw up, especially if it landed on anyone. Besides, Chris was probably out in the stands. He wouldn't want anything to do with her if she became the laughing stock of the whole school. Lily was there too and Kaylie was pretty sure that her second cousin, despite that she was pulling for Teppenpaw big time, would never let her live it down. She was so very glad that Adam wasn't hear. (She knew he'd listen to her of course. He always did. Besides, it wasn't as if he liked Quidditch at all) It wasn't as if he'd laugh at her. Kaylie just didn't like to make him worry.

The game had resumed now and the remaining Pecari Chaser was to take a penalty shot. It quite honestly didn't affect her, fortunately. The great thing about being Seeker was not having to worry about what anyone else was doing, so long as there were no Bludgers coming towards her.

The desert sun seemed to be causing wavy lines to appear in the air over the pitch. A small flash of molten gold zoomed across Kaylie's line of vision and she rushed after it. \n\n

Stephen Baxter, Pecari Keeper

November 11, 2006 5:30 AM
Stephen was bored. Bored, bored, bored.

The Pecari Chasers were getting all the action, and there was nothing for him to do at all. He watched the game for a little, then, with little to no chance of the quaffle heading his way for a few minutes at least, did a loop of the hoops, turning and twisting in a complicated roll as he did so. As he reached his starting position again he glanced the other way. Bludgers flying, Pecari still in posession. He waved at Mia in the crowd then repeated his loop, this time faster, both because it looked cool, and because it helped let off steam. After the virtual non-event (for him) that was their last game, Stephen felt the need to have something happening.

Of course, the sight that greeted him when he'd completed that loop was a little different. There was a lot of shouting happening, even by the time he was almost done, and that angry firstie girl was being called down to the ground. And, even as he watched, a bludger was flying through the air, taking Lizzie down with it.

Apparently his 'need' had been granted.

"Uh," he said, watching in shock. He continued watching at thing unfolded. There wasn't anything he could actually do except watch.

"Penalty on the... Teppenpaws. The... Pecaris have a penalty shot and then the game will start once more."

Stephen scratched his head for a moment, then settled back on his broom. Action wasn't definitely coming his way just yet, but maybe, after this. He grinned. With two Chasers down, it should definitely be interesting. Saul was going to be in trouble out on the field, which meant it was up to Stephen... well, it was up to Stephen and Ginger. Catching the snitch would help too. Just so long as she gave him an opportunity to do something in this game first, even if it ended up that he had to pull a Valentine and become an extra Chaser himself.

"Come on Saulie," he shouted down the pitch, putting his all in it to get his voice to carry. He considered making comment about how the Captains had better work on their Beating and protect the players they had left better, but thought better of it in such a public place. Things were alright, but not enough that he wanted to rock the boat at the present time. "Show those girls - sorry, Jake - how this game is really played!"\n\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

November 11, 2006 10:55 AM
It was hot out. It didn't really bother Saul too much since he spend his summers entirely outdoors, and the places he stayed in California were generally quite a bit more humid than Arizona. Still, it was hot and he was already wiping sweat off his brow when the coach shouted up to the count of three and released the Quaffle.

Saul launched up, but for the first time since Saul had begun playing at Sonora, he wasn't the one to get the ball first. Caedence shot through, snatching up the Quaffle and flying up into the air. Saul followed behind her, in no real hurry to set up a shot. It was going to be a long hot game and while the Pecaris kept possession, there was no reason to kill himself.

He was more than a little surprised when the Teppenpaw beater popped up and hit a passing bludger straight at Caedence from point blank range. Saul shouted warning, but it was already too late. The sound of a breaking arm made him flinch and grab his own arm in sympathetic pain. Caedence, again, did not fall to her death, which Saul found to be just a little bit show-off-y since he hadn't managed it during his first game and now she'd done it twice.

Still, he was glad she wasn't dying, and had, in fact, been able to make an attempt at scoring a goal though that was quickly intercepted by one of the Teppenpaw Chasers.

He started to move toward her when a guy's voice shouted with magical amplification, which Saul took to be a time out, so he fell back to watch the drama of dealing with Caedence's broken arm.

The show was interrupted by another bludger wacking sound and he was stunned to see Liz go down. Again, no falling to her death, but that was okay, because she probably would have if a firstie Teppenpaw hadn't been there to steady her. That didn't make him feel inadequate for his own failure last year.

Lizzie was, however, out of the game as well. Concussion and broken arm. That left just him. He swallowed hard and, despite the heat of the sun, he felt suddenly chilled. He wondered if this is what the last little indian felt like in that rhyme. He eyed the Teppenpaw beater nervously, wondering how she was going to kill him.

His two teammates were taken off the pitch, and the Quaffle passed to him. Penalty shot. Oh God. Everyone's eyes were on him as he lined up in front of the Teppenpaw Keeper. Sweat poured down his back under his robes, more from the pressure of needing to make this shot than the overbearing heat.

Thirteen years old as of a month ago. Two years of Quidditch experience. A lifetime of stage experience. He could do this. He ignored the eyes and expectations of his teammates. That was immaterial. Instead, he looked at the audience in the stands, listened to them, focused on them.

He knew what he had to do. He flew back a few feet, then surged forward, aiming at the left hoop. At the penalty shot distance, he launched it toward the right one as hard and as accurately as he could. He kept flying toward the left hoop, not really watching where he was going because his eyes were locked on the Quaffle as it sailed for the far hoop, right on target.\n\n

Kaylie

November 11, 2006 9:59 PM
By the time Kaylie got to where she saw the Snitch, it was long gone. She felt faint and nauseous. She was sure she was going to fall off her broom and willed herself to stay on. There was nothing, not even the hardest Transfiguration she'd ever done, that had taken more will power than this was now.

She was also sweating profusely. Kaylie had no idea how she'd ever be able to catch the Snitch when she was sweating so much. Her clothing was as soaked as if she'd jumped in a river. Ahh....river. Water. What she wouldn't give to do that exactly. When she was done with this game, she was going to take a long cold shower. That was, if Kaylie didn't collapse before she got there. She didn't know if she'd ever felt so weak before.

Kaylie licked her lips. She was quite thirsty as well. Even though her stomach felt as though somebody was repeatedly punching it and she was pretty sure she'd never be able to keep anything down.

She looked up, her mind still foggy, just in time to notice she was about to crash into one of the Teppenpaw goal post. Kaylie jerked her broom up, in another nearly breakfast losing move and sailed above the others.\n\n

Ginger SIlverstein Pecari Seeker

November 12, 2006 5:48 PM
Ginger couldn't understand why Coach Fox couldn't just pick a normal day for qudditch games. Every single game that Ginger had to play in, it was either too cold or too hot. She hated playing in the conditions that were forced upon her, and the teams that were playing. She really wished that the fact that the players were always forced to play in ill conditions, would be enough reason to get Coach Fox fired.

Today Ginger didn't wear her quidditch robes, she didn't care if Fox would yell at her. It was too hot to be wearing anything that covered almost every inch of the body. Instead she wore a pair of yellow shorts, and a brown spaghetti strap tank top. It was even to hot to wear her goggles like she usually did when she played. This weather was horrible.

She at least managed to duct tape a bottle of water to her broom. She wasn't going to dehydrate just for a stupid quidditch chapionship game. It wasn't that stupid to her really, but the manner in which it was held was rather stupid to her.

Pecari was playing the team that Ginger knew the least about, the Teppenpaws. Ginger had not heard anything about that house either, which was pathetic because she had been here for two years. She only knew that Adam's sister was part of this house, and Adam had wanted to be in there with her. She felt her stomach tie in knots when she found out that the Teppenpaw seeker was Adam's sister. She now felt nervous that Adam was going to be upset if she caught the snitch.

Ginger set off into the air, and looked for a glint of gold. \n\n

Kaylie

November 12, 2006 10:02 PM
She shook on her broom, feeling increasingly woozier. Kaylie gripped the handle so tightly that her knuckles turned white. The last thing she wanted to do was fall off. She could fall to her death. Besides, the Seeker was crucial. Her team needed her. As sick as Kaylie felt, she had to keep on going.

Sweat dripped down her face, her neck and her back. It felt like there were bugs crawling on her. Kaylie moaned inaudibly. She couldn't see the Snitch anywhere. Her head was pounding and it felt like it weighed 1000 tons. She was getting very sleepy. All she wanted was for this to all be over so she could go throw up take a nap.

Or perhaps what she really should do was go to the infirmary. Kaylie was feeling more ill by the moment. Once again, her mind drifted to the thought that she was glad Adam hadn't came. The last thing she wanted was for him to see her like this. It would upset him terribly. Or worse, he could get sick like this himself.

She noticed the Pecari Chaser was going for a penalty shot. That must mean a Teppenpaw beater had injured the others. If they'd just fainted, there wouldn't be a penalty against her house. Kaylie really hadn't been paying to the other players aside from trying to avoid running into them. She really and truly hoped Pepper blocked this shot. Aside from the obvious of the other team not scoring, perhaps it would also build Pepper's confidence in playing the game.

Kaylie gagged and choked back some bile that threatened to escape the confines of her stomach. She felt as if she were about to cry. She didn't know how much longer she could take this with the heat and the motion of her broom.\n\n

Tally Adams, Teppenpaw Chaser

November 15, 2006 7:47 PM
Tally could not believe what was going on with the game. As soon as she got possession that damn doctor had to go and ruin everything! She was so close to possibly making a score that she nearly threw the quaffle down on his head for having interupted in the first place. The rules had been clear and still he interfered.

She had to take a few deep breaths. She was letting her emotions get the better of her and that was always a dangerous thing to do. Not to mention that the heat was making her feel dizzy and easy to snap. This whole game was frustrating. At least Lexi was on their side. She took out two chasers completely on her own. She definitely earned some Kudo points from Tally with that type of talent. Though...it did frighten Tally a bit as well.

Tally flew around the pitch waiting for the game to resume. She was growing tired from the heat and heavy from the sweat that was forming on her body. Her clothes were sticking annoyingly to her skin and she had to wipe the sweat from her brow on more than one occasion.

When the game resumed, Tally's anger sky rocketed. A Penalty shot? For what? There was no whistle blown! Tally couldn't believe Jake wasn't fighting this! He really had to grow a backbone. She fumed. Her flying skills became jagged with her anger. Occassionally she would jerk to the side or suddenly tip downward before being able to straighten back out or shake her head to bring herself back into concentrating.

Besides, one penalty shot by Saul wasn't anything serious. With two Pecari chasers down, they had to win. Course, that was really up to Kaylie.\n\n

Kaylie's tank top was clinging to her and soaked with sweat. She was only glad it was yellow and not white. The pitch seemed to be spinning and tears began to leak out. She couldn't remember when she'd been so miserable. She was just glad nobody could see her that closely and they wouldn't know. Kaylie just felt so sick . She was so tired and dizzy and nauseated. She needed to get inside where it was cool in the worst way possible.

Her head felt...well, the best way to describe it was that it felt like it had been repeatedly banged onto a hard marble floor, then trampled on by hippogriffs wearing steel-toed boots and finally smacked on with a blunt instrument quite a few times. It nothing short of a miracle that Kaylie was still on her broom and she didn't know how much longer she'd be able to stay on it, let alone how she could possibly concentrate on catching the Snitch.

She thought she saw a flash of gold across the way. Kaylie rushed over to it, but it seemed to be gone before she got halfway there. She groaned inwardly, she was never going to catch up to the small golden object when she felt this way.

Ginger Silverstein

November 15, 2006 10:06 PM
This weather was ghastly...

Ginger had to take serveral sips of her water within the first half hour of the match. She didn't even fly all that much either. She just kept going up, and looking around in the clouds (where she thought it would be only slightly cooler) and searched for the snitch up there. She finally got tired after a few minutes, and went down a little lower to keep searching for the stupid ball with the wings.

This weather really was getting Ginger to just hate quidditch all together. She figured that she would play one more year of it, and then let Sam take over once he got here if he got sorted into Pecari.

She looked at Kaylie, and she looked almost as miserable, if not more than she did. She was deffinatly going to get a hug after this match if either one of them could stand after it.

She continued to look for the snitch after she took another sip of her water.\n\n

Tears of pain streamed down Kaylie's face. She couldn't do this anymore, she didn't want to. Of course, she would , but she really didn't want to. She had to continue. If she stopped, she'd let down her whole team. It was just that Kaylie was sick of this game, and just plain sick . She wanted to sleep, to collapse, to pass out somewhere cool. If she stayed out here playing she'd die, if not from dehydration, than from falling of her broom and going splat on the ground.

She couldn't see the other seeker so she had no idea whether the other girl was affected by the heat as much as she was. Kaylie was pretty sure that she wasn't going to be able to catch the Snitch in this condition. She could hardly play anymore. She could barely keep her head up.

She had to find that Snitch and catch it soon. She just couldn't take this heat much longer.\n\n

Pepper Jones, Teppenpaw Keeper

November 16, 2006 8:35 PM
She had thought the start of the match had been scary. The mean looking Pecari girl had got the Quaffle and had barrelled straight for her. She was upset that she got hit, but relieved for herself (although Tally was there. She appreciated the other girl swooping in just by the goal to stop her having to make the save, although she couldn't help but feel very small that Tally thought she clearly needed help). She had thought that was frightening, but since then, this match had turned into the most horrific thing Pepper had seen since coming to Sonora. And she was involved. Not in the sense that any of the horror was her fault, but she was in the centre of the disaster zone and could be taken out any minute. Ok, Lexi was on their side, but she was sure the Cravens were not going to take two of their players being taken out lightly. She didn't pray for victory, she didn't even pray that she made saves. She just prayed that they all survived this.

The second girl getting hit really did seem exessive, even if that was the game. She wasn't entirely sure what was going on, so she hovered around the goals, trying to be alert. Then the words 'Penalty' 'against' and 'Teppenpaw' all hit her ears, slightly disjointedly. She swallowed, even though her mouth was dry. How could Lexi have done that? Ok, she didn't know how rubbish Pepper was but doing anything that made your teammate's job harder...

She fidgetted on the broom, twitching back and forth, not sure how to even lap the goals, which way to move. It had to be Saul taking the penalty too... Saul, looker-after of the firstie Pecaris and super brave Quidditch player. She'd been terrified of playing her matches, yet he got up here no problems every time, even after what had happened to him. It felt mean if she saved his shot, but if she missed it, he'd think she was an idiot, and so would the whole school. Not that that was the major problem interfering with whether or not she made the save. There was her own sheer incompetence to overcome first, especially with no Chasers able to come to her rescue this time.

Ok, he was pushing to her right (his left) which meant he probably was going to go to her left. But everyone knew that that was what Chasers did, so maybe he knew she'd know that and was double bluffing. Or triple. Or- it was so confusing, and so hot. Her stomach was knotting, and butterflying and just feeling sick, and one glowing red thought was flashing on override, louder than all the tactics. She couldn't do it. She should move one way, or at all, or be even able to, but she just couldn't. She froze up in front of the middle hoop, not knowing where she could be going. Then there was a rush of scarlet. She snapped out of rabbit-in-the-headlights mode enough to lunge jerkily and wildly with her body, grabbing for the Quaffle, but it was no good. All she did was unbalance herself and so, to add to her humiliation, as it sailed through the hoop, she was squeaking and grasping back for a hold on her broom handle instead of reaching for it (not that her arms would have made it anyway).

Glowing a shade that clashed perfectly with both her hair and the ball, she dove after it. She hated the way having to do that made the ground rush up at her, which was worse in the heat. She squeezed her eyes shut just for a second once she'd got the Quaffle back, trying to stop herself feeling faint and keep herself from crying.

Heading back up to the level of the hoops, she bowled it clumsily out towards their Chasers, through vision that blurred slightly on the edges, just wanting to get the hot-potato away from herself. At least there was only one Pecari Chaser. Although, just her luck, he happened to be amazing. \n\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

November 16, 2006 9:40 PM
It was through. Saul could hardly believe it. He'd scored. Penalty shot through the right hoop. Pepper had gone for it and missed. Saul watched it sail through the hoop in something very much like shock. He himself was still flying directly at the left hoop, but he was too stunned by the fact that he had scored a GOAL that he forgot about that minor issue.

Well, he was forcibly reminded of it a moment later when he crashed right into it even as he was whooping in triumph, but hey! He'd scored a goal. His dignity could handle a collision with the opposite goal post for that.

He blushed red anyway (not that it was too noticible after the heat and the exertion that were already flushing his face) and took a few precious seconds to right his broom and steady out. Fortunately, he hadn't been going so fast that he knocked himself out or off the broom. Still, it was embarrassing and took enough time to fix that Pepper had already caught the Quaffle and tossed it off to one of her teammates.

He chased after the Teppenpaw Chaser, knowing he was the only one left on his team to intercept any passes or take advantage of any drops. He just hoped the school broom he was on was up to the task of getting him where he needed to be.

Keeping an eye out for the savage Teppenpaw demon with a bat because, hey, Saul was no Aladren but even he could recognize patterns. The fiend had already taken down two Pecari Chasers and there was only one left on the field. He'd already done near death once, thanks.

Alert to the sound of wood meeting metal, he bent down and tried to narrow the distance between him and the Chaser who had the Quaffle now. Maybe, if he was really lucky, he could get close enough to try to steal.\n\n

Dalila Bastet,Teppenpaw Chaser

November 16, 2006 10:59 PM
After being chastised by Jake and sent back up to the air, Dalila wasn't feeling too well. Or maybe it was the heat. It was getting to everyone it seemed. Beads of sweat were dripping down her face and clouding up her glasses. Stopping her course, she wiped down hoer glasses and replaced them of her face. She'd need to figure out what to do about these glasses. However cool they were, they were bothersome on the field.

Suddenly, Dalila heard Coach Fox yell out. A penalty? Dalila sighed. Just get it over with, she thought tiredly. Dalila watched helplessly as the only remaining Pecari chaser scored easily. Dalila sighed again and moved towards the quaffle. If we ever needed the snitch to be caught, now would be a great time. At this thought, Dalila searched for Kaylie ad saw her not too far off looking as though she'd happily fall to the ground. That wasn't good. But Pepper had suddenly thrown the quaffle in her direction. Dalila caught it and, with her mind back on the game, she urged her broom as fast as it would go towards the opposite end of the field. Form her peripheral, she saw the Pecari chaser trailing right behind her. She tried to speed up just a bit more, but her broom seemed to be at its edge and the chaser was catching up a bit every moment.

Dalila made a split decision and jetted herself upward ten feet before throwing the quaffle with all her might at the nearest Teppenpaw chaser. Praying that they caught it, she turned her attention to the Pecari chaser; hopefully, her tactics caused him a bit of confusion.\n\n

It hurt so bad, Kaylie's head was about to explode and she could feel a trapdoor open in the floor of her stomach. She couldn't take it. She could feel the bile rising in her throat and she cringed. She knew right then and there that she wasn't going to make it. Her stomach was going to burst.

Kaylie flew over the crowd, willing herself to not burst until she was outside the pitch. She did not want to vomit inside where everyone, including Chris and Lily, would see. Maybe Lily wouldn't have given her a hard time about this though. She wasn't that cruel. She was only vicious and developing a grudge against some of the Pecaris. Still it was that last thing Kaylie wanted people to see her do. Chris probably wouldn't want to ever be with her if she became the laughing stock of the whole school.

Finding herself outside the pitch, Kaylie pulled her broom down and let loose. Tears streamed down her face. She hated throwing up. She'd always hated it.

The contents of her stomach emptied, Kaylie got back on her broom, trembling. She took of into the air, still feeling weak and ill.\n\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

November 17, 2006 2:38 PM
Saul was narrowing the gap. It was remotely possible he could draw close enough to fight over the ball before she reached the Pecari end of the field. He wanted to put on an extra burst of speed, but he was already at his broom's maximum ability. The wind felt good in the hot sun.

He was about a foot short of being able to reach out for the chaser's broom bristles when she suddenly shot upwards. Saul zoomed past underneath her, too close behind and going too fast to make the requisite change in direction in time.

He was now between the goal and quaffle which was a good place to be, except that he wasn't at the same altitute. Twisting around to see where it was, he saw the chaser girl toss it off to another Teppenpaw Chaser. He wasn't remotely close enough to intercept the pass, but he could put himself in the way of the new chaser.

He sped up to keep himself between the new chaser and the goals. He didn't want to change direction, but he did slow down so as to let the other's advance bring them closer together. If they got too close, Saul would attempt to steal, but in the meantime, he was prepared to try to intercept a forward pass or a scoring attempt.\n\n

Her stomach still hurting and her head still pounding, Kaylie flew back over the pitch. This was seriously the worst headache she'd ever had. She had a new found sympathy for Marshall when he had one of his migraines. This was awful . Kaylie wiped her eyes and forehead on her arm. Not that it did any good.

She wanted so badly for it to be over. The pitch seemed to be extremely blurry between her tears and the pain in her head. Things seemed to be spinning. How would Kaylie ever catch the snitch in this condition? She felt like she could keel over and die or at least faint (and fall off her broom to her death,) at any moment.

Suddenly, she saw a blurry yellow shape, one of the other Teppenpaw players, in front of her. Kaylie groaned as she swerved to avoid hitting her teammate. The motion of it sure didn't help her stomach any.\n\n

November 20, 2006 2:01 AM
Kaylie wavered on her broom and grabbed on tightly to steady herself the best she could, though it wasn't easy. Really, this was ridiculous. She'd already thrown up and had nearly ran into things twice. She'd almost just caused an accident. She was in absolutely no condition to play at all. The snitch needed to be caught soon . Kaylie would have preferred for it to be her who caught it but at this point she was so ill she didn't even care.

She tried to think about cold things, in hopes that it would help. Waterfalls, glaciers, popsicles. Unfortunately this did not have the desired effect. In fact the idea of popsicles actually made Kaylie feel queasier. Food couldn't have appealed to her less. She was quite thirsty though.

She rubbed her head, which was hurting even more. It was now a searing severe pain. Kaylie knew however, that she had to keep going. To stop because of her illness would let down her whole team. For the Seeker to be out with no alternates was as good as forfeiting. There was no way the rest of the team would be okay with that .

Kaylie groaned and clutched her stomach. She saw something glinting across the way and moved after it as quickly as she could in her condition.\n\n

Amy Fox

November 20, 2006 4:28 PM
The game had been progressing beautifully, Amy thought scathingly. Two players were out for the rest of the game and the players were now on edge. Of course the fact that one of the Seekers had forgone wearing her Quidditch robes had not been lost on her and she had been terribly tempted to refuse to allow the player on the field. As it was, the Pec Seeker had been sitting in the air, her tank top and shorts only causing to confuse Amy each moment she looked. That was it. She wasn't going to deal with it anymore. There was no reason for her to allow one player the right to break the rules.

Flying over, she attempted to flag the offending player over as she noted that the other Seeker was exiting the pitch. Honestly, what was it with the players? Placing the problem with the Pec Seeker on the outside of her mind, she flew in the direction of the returning Paw Seeker. Of course, she was slightly distracted by an oncoming bludger but successfully dodged in and continued toward the player.

The stench of vomit was overwhelming as she finally approached the girl. Really! It wasn't that hot. She noticed the thick sheen of sweat that was forming on the girl's face. Rolling her eyes, she pulled around, cutting the girl off as she seemingly tried to go after some unseen object.

"Listen kid," Amy stated, frustration evident through both voice and expression, "here." It honestly wasn't that hot, but obviously some people were extremely hot natured, especially if they were hot in an area that had charms to control the temperature. Whipping out her wand, she quickly placed a cooling charm upon the girl. "I realize you might be hot so hopefully this will do. Now suck it up. If I see you leave this pitch again I will penalize your team."

Without a second glance, Amy flew back in the direction of the Pec Seeker, and waved her over once more. This whole robes issue was going to be settled once and for all.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Kaylie

Kaylie was mortified . Coach Fox had gotten on her case just because she was feeling ill. Didn't she understand that Kaylie didn't want to throw up where everyone could see? It wasn't fair . How would it look if she vomited hundreds of feet in the air or worse, on someone. Plus, she really was hot. Wasn't that obvious just by looking at her, that she wasn't well? Perhaps, Adam was right and Coach Fox was a truly cruel evil woman. It was clear that she probably thought Kaylie was a wimp.

On the other hand, the cooling charm was working great and she very much appreciated it being put on her. Kaylie was beginning to feel better already. She really appreciated the wonderful coldness of it all. The chill. She didn't know why the heat had affected her so much. It never had before really. Maybe Kaylie was sick with something else. However, if that was the case, the charm put on her wouldn't have worked at all. She wasn't a hundred percent better, but it was only a matter of time before the cooling charm took full effect. It was a tremendous relief even though Coach Fox had been rather nasty about it.

Kaylie soared through the air, looking for the snitch she thought she'd spotted before being the coach had come along.\n\n

Stephen

It looked like there might finally be something to do. Finally taking a more orthodox position in front of the goals, Stephen watched the Quaffle as it was taken by a Teppenpaw, and then thrown towards another.

And then Saul came back into the picture. Clearly he wasn't going to be able to intercept, but Stephen could well see the chosen path of the lone remaining Pecari Chaser. Was he never to get anything to do?

Shaking his head, and giving Fido a brisk pat to stop him doing anything rash, Stephen put Saul from his mind for the moment and sighted once again on the Teppenpaw Chasers.

"Anytime," he shouted down the field at them. "Seriously, its just as well your Beater is on her game - it's like watching people approaching in slow motion!"

A taunt had to get something happening right? If they didn't make at least one attempt at goal this whole game would have been a waste of time, and thinking that about Quidditch was just about the equivalent of sacrilige. Unless you considered what he might have been doing instead. Catching sight of Mia sitting in the stands in the corner of his eye, Stephen grinned.\n\n

It was amazing. Not ten minutes ago, Kaylie had felt like she was dying. Now, however, she felt much much better. Cooling charms were a wonderous thing. She was postively refreshed, though a bit thirsty yet.

Now she didn't feel quite so much like giving up. Kaylie gazed around the pitch with newfound determination. She narrowed her eyes. She still didn't see the snitch anywhere.

Across the way, something glinted in the sun and she rushed over to it, this time without the urge to puke. Kaylie peeked around, it seemed to have vanished.

Suddenly something flew towards her face and she reached up to grab it. Something that size and color could only be the Snitch.

Kaylie grasped her hand tightly around the small object, a big smile on her face. She rose the hand with the Snitch clasped in it over her head. They had done it! Teppenpaw had won the championship!\n\n

Across the way, something glinted in the sun and she rushed over to it, this time without the urge to puke. Kaylie peeked around, it seemed to have vanished. Then she spotted it again and zoomed in closer, her hand outstretched. She came to a place where it was close enough to catch and reached out and grabbed it.

Kaylie grasped her hand tightly around the small object, a big grin on her face and came to a stop on the ground. They had done it! Teppenpaw had won the championship!

She scanned the crowd for Chris but couldn't find him. She did, however, see Lily cheering. Kaylie kind of wished Adam was there to see this too. Even though he didn't like the game, she knew he'd have liked to see her catch the snitch. Oh well, it was better for him to be inside and not experience what she went through before the cooling charm.\n\n

Caedence

Caedence was stunned. Just when they had scored a goal, the seeker had caught the snitch! Glaring and muttering profanities under her breath, she turned to the medic. "The game's over, I'm going to my dorm." she said before stalking out.

Glaring up at the Teppanpaw above her, she screamed, "THAT'S NOT RIGHT! IT JUST ISN'T!!" before stamping out of the pitch. A smudge of brown in her vision alerted her to the fact that her broom was still abandoned on the pitch. She bent over, grabbed it, mounted it, and sped off. \n\n
