Amy Fox, Quidditch Coach

October 15, 2006 9:35 PM
It was the first match of the year and most would have preferred to be indoors. The sky was a dark, threatening gray, the weather frigidly cold. Although she had cast multiple heating charms upon herself, none seemed to be truly working. Her feet were tightly ensconced in her sturdy pair of boots; her body wrapped one of the few thick robes she owned. A woolen turtleneck clung to her, trying desperately to hold in the few threads of warmth. The weather was odd, to say the least. Used to the weather of the South, Amy was surprised by the temperature, usually expecting temperatures in the 60s or 70s at this time of year. Instead, the temperature seemed in the 50s at most. Of course, Amy’s mind could be completely over exaggerating things, as used to warm weather as her body was, anything less than 70 degrees Fahrenheit was considered ‘cold.’

The first match would soon be underway. She watched as the students quickly piled onto the filed, the stands rapidly filling. The teams would be entering the pitch soon. Amy glanced around, noting the presence of the medic, who seemed to be a constant thorn in her…side. After the previous year’s dangerous match, it seemed that the medic was making it a mission to make sure that the students come to any injury while on her pitch. Obviously, not everyone realized that playing Quidditch pretty much implied that there would be injuries.

Rolling her eyes, Amy turned back, noticing that the teams were now making their way onto the pitch. Making her way to the center of the pitch, she waited until the teams got closer before calling the captains to the center. The Pecs, of course, had the twins. She had been sure to separate the Crots and the Pecs during the first match this year, as the last year’s match had been ‘dangerous’ and students had given her a headache whining. Thus, the Pecs would be playing the Als.

“Alright,” she said as the captains approached. “I don’t really need to go over the rules with you as you are more than aware of them but I’ll do it anyway. There won’t be any dirty plays, got me? I will call penalties on teams that do something out of lines. The games will go ‘til the Snitch is caught, no exceptions. If a team member gets injured, make sure that your backups are ready to enter. The medic will be there to assist your injured as I’m not going to stop the game. Got it?” She waited barely a moment before continuing. “Shake hands and then return to your teams. It’s cold and I want to get this game underway.”

Starting her broom, Amy cast another heating charm upon herself as she waited for the captains to take their places. She moved over to the box of balls, letting the Snitch and Bludgers go. “The game will begin the moment the Quaffle leaves my hands. On the count of three:

“One.

“Two.

“Three!” The ball left her hands, flying into the air. She quickly pushed off the ground and rose into the air, moving to the outside of the play. The game had begun.

OOC: Note to all players, please put your position and team name in the author section, so I can keep accurate account of the game. Also, be sure to have lengthy posts, detailing the game. Finally, good luck.

Stephen Baxter, Pecari Keeper extraordinaire

October 16, 2006 8:47 AM
It was a day to savor.

A day of wonder.

A day, no doubt, that every member of the Sonoran student body - and the staff too - has been looking forward to.

Or, at least, they would have if they'd had known. Geoffie, of course, knew. And Sorrel and Ash had known about his plans, even if he had refused to show them the end product until the game. And Mia knew, because he'd had to give her a sneak peek, just to get his due reaction, especially after the present she'd given him for Christmas. Everyone else was in the dark, and probably a little confused by Stephen's choice to carry out his broom all wrapped up as though to protect it from the ugly weather.

The weather was the only thing that really was bothering Stephen just at that moment. Not the temperature, as he was from north and to be perfectly frank, this wasn't that bad, but just the whole look happening. Of all the days to be presenting the new and improved Fido to the world, this gray day just seemed a monumental let down. No shining sun to glint off the new paint job, no gentle breeze to ruffle his hair in just the right way, while also wending through the now perfectly aligned twigs in his broom. No blue sky for the girls to see him up against on his awesome looking broom, not that he needed them to be falling at his feet just now, because he had Mia, but there was still the point of the matter.

Still, there was the game. That was something. And maybe Sorrel would see his new broom and realise that it was so much better than any stupid Harley that her geriatric boyfriend rode. And there was also the opportunity to show off for Mia.

Pausing when he reached the spot where the rest of the team were getting ready to play, Stephen dropped fido and searched the stands, grinning and waving when he spotted Mia. Only then, and with a flourish, did he pick up his broom again, and remove the coverings.

The slightly scruffy dull brown broom of times before was gone. In its place, was a sleek, polished thing of beauty. The handle gleamed with polish. There were red racing stripes on the side, along with the word 'Fido' in blue. The twigs were aligned just along the pattern that he had Geoff had worked out together and looked neater than Stephen had thought possible. And that was just the appearance. Stephen grinned around at his teammates, proud of his broom.

"Pretty sweet, huh?" he said to one of them as the coach went on about the rules. "It took me all holiday to get it right, but it's got some awesome improvements in the charms too. I mean the cushioning charm... I swear the difference is amazing. And I was reading about this novelty 'horn' charm that you can get on brooms these days too. I'm thinking about one of those too. Can you imagine a chaser for the other side coming to try to score, and then I let blast with some crazy sound and bam! They won't know what hit 'em. No rules against it that I know of, and it'd be funny as, with them all confused and all. I'd just ease in and pluck the quaffle right from their hands."

The announcement that the game was about to start broke through his reverie, and Stephen noogied his team-mate, shrugging apologetically as the need to get into position drew him away from talking about how great Fido was, and how cool things would be if he added even more awesome innovations to the broom.

"Give them hell," he instructed cheerfully, as he jumped on board the waiting broom, and accelerated off the ground. The broom reacted instantly, making it twenty minutes before shuddering and almost halting for half a second before resuming the previous speed as though nothing had happened. Stephen made a quick mental note that the accelerator obviously needed tweaking but proceeded to the rings nevertheless.

The game was now afoot.\n\n

Zack Dill, Alderaanian Seeker

October 16, 2006 2:21 PM
It was freezing out. Zack huddled in on himself as he collected Enterprise from the school broom supply and shivered as he stepped out into the light but frigid breeze outside that limited shelter. He closed his hands into loose fists and blew the warmer air from his lungs into them. He was going to have frostbite by time this match was over. It was really dumb that the Quidditch Pitch was outside the protection of the weather charms that made the rest of the school pretty comfortable year-round.

He straddled Enterprise and lifted up into a low hover. He crouched down into an aerodynamic hunch, not because he felt any need at this time to reduce wind resistance but because reducing his surface area would slow the transfer of energy (ie, heat) from his body to the atmosphere. Also, with his knees currently doing the holding of his broom, he was able to pull his unmittened hands up inside the too-long sleeves.

Gloves would have made grabbing the Snitch just about impossible, mittens doubly so, but Zack was beginning to regret the decision to leave them in his room already. He wouldn't be able to catch it if he just had finger-cicles to grab it with either. At least he'd found one of Nick's old coats so he didn't have one that was too small for him this year.

He would have liked to have a little bit of fat for insulation though. He was probably going to get sick, too. Being grossly underweight sucked. He didn't care how dorky it made him look, there wasn't anything in the world that was going to make him take off the knitted wool hat on his head, even if it did have a stupid looking pompom on the top. He wasn't suicidal and hypothermia was not the way he wanted to go.

If Anne or Coach Fox had a problem with him wearing Pecari colors on his head or a winter jacket over his Quidditch robes, they'd just have to get over themselves. At least the coat was blue with black accents and zippers.

As the players gathered in the center of the pitch, Zack caught the sight of Ginger as she and the other Pecaris looked at something he couldn't make out. Shoot. He'd forgotten she was the Pecari Seeker. Figured one of his better friends at the school would be the person he was playing against. Stephen and the Cravens, three of his four favourite people in his grade were also on the team, but they were less significant. They weren't Seekers. Zack didn't pay much attention to what else was going on the Pitch. He didn't care about the Quaffle at all and it was Layne and Tarwater's job to see to it that he didn't need to worry about the bludgers.

It was only Ginger who was direct competition. He felt momentarily relieved that they had been too busy talking about D&D everytime the met that he'd never gotten around to informing her about his discovery about the Snitch. Hopefully, Guenther hadn't told her either.

Then there wasn't time to worry about it any more because the coach was counting down (well, up) to the start of the game, and then the Quaffle was in the air. It was time to do what 3 million computers or so had yet to manage. Search for Extra-Terestrial Intelligence. Of course SETI was looking too far away. There was a few examples right here on this pitch and it was Zack's job to find one particular one first. Stephen and the two bludgers weren't really hiding, but the last one was.

The Snitch.

Quidditch was nothing more than a multi-species and overly complicated game of hide-and-seek and Zack and Ginger were both It.

*Ready or not, here I come,* Zack thought out at the Snitch, as he'd spent part of his last Quidditch Practice explaining the rules of the children's game to a Snitch.

Now, if he were a tiny little spherical alien being with wings and vast intelligence, where would he hide?

Up, he decided. Up above where the Seekers usually flew while looking down. Zack flew up to the same altitude and started Seeking above him for the familiar golden flash.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

October 17, 2006 9:09 PM
Saul was increadibly nervous. Sure, he hadn't had any near falls to his death during any of the practices, but he hadn't last year, either. That hadn't stopped him from doing so at his only previous actual game.

He'd been unable to eat breakfast, and he'd apparently been looking so queasy that Simon had noticed from the Faculty table and had come over to give him a few tips on dealing with stage fright. It might have helped if his phobia had actually been of public reaction rather than death.

At least, he assumed that Simon's comments of 'we must make sacrifices for our art' was in relation to standing up to fear of ridicule. Upon further consideration, though, Saul wasn't so sure. He could easily see Simon thinking that dying on stage would be the ultimate showmanship. Simon was more than a little weird sometimes.

His nerves hadn't subsided at all by the time the match was due to begin. He was outside with the other Pecari players, hoping back and forth from one foot to the other, and not because he was cold - he was way too nervous to feel anything as mundane as the weather.

Thank God for Stephen.

The unveiling of Fido was a welcome distraction. Saul needed a racing stripe on his broom. Well, he needed a non-school broom first, but when he got one, it was definitely getting a racing stripe. And a name. Man, why hadn't he ever thought to name his broom before?

And it had a horn? "Cool," Saul breathed, though the compliment was barely adequate. He wanted a horn. He'd have so much fun with a horn. He'd get himself kicked off the pitch with a horn, but wasn't the point. Horns were cool. Horns were past cool, horns were "Wicked cool," he finished out loud because that was better than the plain old 'cool' he'd offered earlier.

Then the coach was calling for the game to start, and all of Saul's nervous energy jumped back at him, so when she shouted three and threw the Quaffle into the air, Saul launched off like a too-tightly wound spring suddenly let loose.

He caught the Quaffle on his way up, more by happenstance than any real intent and kept on climbing. Spotting one of his teammates who'd taken a shallower climb and was therefore closer to the goals than Saul was, he called over to them to get their attention and tossed the Quaffle their way.

He'd started last year's game with the Quaffle, too. This was not looking promising.\n\n

Ginger SIlverstein Pecari Seeker

October 18, 2006 12:25 AM
Ginger was not too thrilled that her second game of quidditch was also in the bitter cold. She thought that she would have slightly got used to it by now because of the practices, but no. She really hated the fact that there could have been a game at any time of the year (when it was a lot warmer outside). She had a big suspicion that Coach Fox just loved to torture the students. Alright, maybe that wasn't a suspicion, it was almost a fact. She knew that if Fox could do it, she would make the students probably play in this weather in bathing suits or something to ensure hypothermia and/or frostbite.

Her quidditch robes were barely visable under her coat (which wasn't very thick). She a pare of long underware uder everything along with a long sleeved shirt and a pair of black corduroy pants. She had her quittich robes over her outfit, and she wore a light emerald green cloak over her robes. She had a black beanie and a green scarf on with a pare of goggles ontop of her head (that were going to be on her eyes at some point). Since one could barely see her robes, and she had no Pecari colors on at all, she borrowed a pair of brown gloves from Adam. From the looks of them, he didn't wear those very often because they felt new and snug as if they were brand new. She probably looked silly, but being warm (at least enough to survive) was the primary concern for Ginger at the moment. Since she was probably going to go very high up a lot, it was going to be extra cold up there, so she really needed to bundle up.

She looked over at the Aladren team, and much to her dismay she saw Zack. He was the teams seeker?? Oh... this was bad... This was really bad! She didn't feel comfortable at all playing against one of her best friends here! She looked at him, and gave him a forboding look. Last year's game, she didn't know anyone on the opposing team. In fact, the only person she knew in that house was Adam, and she didn't even know that he was in that house until this year. Plus she knew that he would probably swim with sharks before he even decided to play qudditch. Ginger remembered Adam telling her that flying was one of his worst fears.

She didn't want to hold back though, and she was almost sure that Zack wasn't going to either. They were friends, but at the moment they were competing. Part of Ginger wished that she was playing with Aladren instead of against them, but she was playing agsinst them, and there was nothing anyone could do about it. She just had to try her best. If she lost, she would give Zack a hug after the match, and congradulate him, because she really respected him all around. He was a good friend, a smart person, and probably a good quidditch player.

When the whistle blew, she rose up where she usually did in the begining. A safe distance from Zack, but she was about at the same altitude he was.

The Craven Twins, Pecari, Beaters

October 19, 2006 6:14 AM
Stretches and jogging befoe the match ensured the Cravens were both breaking a slight sweat, and - so long as they kept up a bit of movement - not feeling the nip that was in the air on the morning of their Quidditch match. They didn't do nervous, or even apprehensive but, if there was some appropriately tough synonym, they might have confessed to feeling that. The last time they'd played, Saul had nearly died, and he wasn't looking too positive about the day ahead. They'd both tried to give him comforting pats on the back as they made their way onto the pitch, but, whilst they were experts in drilling their team until their fingers blistered, they were less good at comforting them. There was also the issue of Stephen's broom. He claimed (read as 'had not stopped yacking about') how great the improvements (and he, for making them) were, but he was messing with some serious s***. Brooms were tempermental. The last thing they needed was their Keeper dropping out of the sky mid-game. Ash had told him so, in more colourful and threatening-with-consequences terms that morning. When Stephen unveiled his ride, however, they both had to acknowledge that it was 'nice' or 'sweet', and give him approving nods, before being dragged to the centre to shake hands with the Loser Captain.

The Bludgers, released by the coach, soared into the air. As the game kicked off, having noted that one had headed a fairly safe distance away, the Cravens dove for the nearest one. They relayed it between with short strokes, waiting to see where the Quaffle was going. Once one of their own had it, meaning they didn't need to worry about disarming an opposing Chaser just yet, they spread further out, keeping up a relay to work to the Seekers' altitude. Once they were within target range, Sorrel dropped back down into the frey of the game, searching for what had become of the Bludger they'd left.

All is fair is Quidditch and war, Ash reminded himself, as he took aim for Zack. Zack wasn't exactly one of his closest buddies, he was frankly quite weird, but he wasn't an annoying nerd, and he'd helped with the fort. This, ordinarily, meant he wasn't a target. But this was different, and Zack had signed up to be pummelled. Ash swung back, sending the Bludger at Zack from behind and to the left. He aimed for the broom tail. If Zack got injured, they might have a reserve, but if Ash trashed his broom up (but so he could still stay up - just), Ginger would have a cornering and speed advantage if it came to an all out race. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Zack Dill

October 19, 2006 9:14 AM
Zack had glanced over and saw Ginger flying about equidistant from the ground as he was, but she was watching below her like Seekers normally did. He wondered if she simply hadn't noticed he was looking above them, or if she was intentionally disregarding it. He supposed it didn't really matter and went back to Seeking out the Snitch.

Up this high, he occassionally caught a glimpse of the sun through tiny breaks in the clouds, which was kind of distracting. If the sun was a little less intense against his eyes, he'd be in serious danger of mistaking such flashes for his target. Fortunately, though, Snitches weren't so bright that they left after images on your eyelids, so it was easy to tell the difference.

He was just blinking his vision clear after one such false sighting when he heard it. The unmistakable sound of a wooden bat hitting a metal bludger, and it sounded really close.

Stupidly, he knew it was stupid when he did it, but it was like the deer's instinct to freeze when confronted by headlights. He turned toward the sound, inadvertantly placing himself more firmly in its line of approach.

He had eyes only for the bludger coming straight at him. He had no awareness of who hit it or where Layne or Tarwater were. He had not the faintest clue where Ginger was and if the Snitch was hovering just a few inches away from him he would never know it. The only important thing in his universe at that moment was the driving momentum of a cruel alien beast as it bore down on its prey.

Zack did the only thing he could think of.

He screamed like a little girl.\n\n

Paul Tarwater, Aladren Beater

October 19, 2006 5:59 PM
Hah, his first Quidditch game. Paul wished his father were here, how fun would that be, to have his father see him slam the Bluger into the opponents face. Andrew Tarwater would be very proud to see how good and strong his son was. How quick he was taking off when the game started. How well he darted around the first time hitting the Blugder towards one of the Pecari Chasers. And while he hadn't hit them, he at least scared them for a second. Still... his father would be proud. He wpuld probably turn to one of the other people and point up towards Paul saying how well he'd taught his son. These thoughts made Paul very happy, even though his father wasn't there. Which propelled him to play now as if his father was watching.

Paul felt himself smile as he followed one certain Bludger, looking for Pecaris to hit. Paul'd overheard, and silently agreed with, their Keeper (another first year, Grail, who he saw taking off as well and was circling the hoops waiting for the Quaffle) talking about how annoying and bland outgoing people like Pecaris were. Paul thought of them stereotypically as the kinds who always got what they wanted, who were favored here. Paul'd show them how good he could be. Even without the fancy brooms and happy, giddy personality. He wanted to hit one of the other team, preferably in the face, since he was never able to do it to Layne.

Paul's Bludger, a fair distance from him, was heading for somewhere else, so Paul abandoned his wild zooming after it to look for the other bludger. Layne could take that one, Paul wanted to find where that crack came from. He found himself turning and racing to the sound.

The boy he noticed was the Zach kid. The one on his team (though he wasn't that much dressed like it), the Seeker. Paul knew the team needed the Seeker alive to win this game. Meaning Paul had to stop the Bludger. Of course when the guy didn't move and began to scream, Paul had hesitated for a second. Someone this stupid should be hit. But then he thought of what his father would do if he saw his son ignore a needed teammate. This allowed Paul to reach his own bat in front of the Bludger and hit it as hard as he could away from their Seeker. But even though he was needed, that didn't stop Paul from stating sharply to the boy:

"You know, when something large and heavy is ready to kill you, the best idea is to stop screaming like a sissy and actually move." Paul turned and began to follow that Bludger. "The Beater isn't always there in time!"

Paul pushed back his wild black hair and focused his eyes on the new Bludger. Now a new target to follow. Maybe he should take the other Seeker out? He'd noticed her close by. Looking around he tried to pick her out again.\n\n

Zack Dill

October 19, 2006 9:07 PM
He was alive. He touched his chest, just over his heart, and felt it pounding away, further proving his non-dead state. His other hand gripped the handle of Enterprise, confirming that he was still stable in the air. A tiny breeze evaporated the sweat that had popped out in fear on his face and reminded him it was freezing out. He'd forgotten he'd been turning into a Zackcicle while the bludger was coming at him, but now he shivered and felt good shivering. It meant he was alive.

Tarwater said something to him. Zack didn't like the tone and he caught the words 'sissy' and 'move' but that was alright. The kid had blocked the bludger so Zack would give him one free time to call him any name he wanted. Not that Zack would do anything against any future insults either. It wasn't like Tarwater was wrong. The worst Zack could do was just not like him. Despite the saving of his life, Zack was already well on his way toward that.

He shook his head to clear it of those thoughts. Right now was not the time to worry about any of that. He'd freak out about nearly being mauled by a savage bludger after he'd caught the snitch. He pulled his hands back inside his sleeves and went back to searching the clouds for a flash of gold.\n\n

Geoffrey Layne, Aladren Beater

October 21, 2006 2:39 PM
Beaters, as a group, were not known for being or looking kind and endearing, especially on game day. Geoffrey saw no problem with following that particular convention, especially after losing two arguments with Anne in a row before they could even begin. She'd been even less willing to listen about the Cravens than she had been about Dill's hat, which was why the traitorous item still resided on the Aladren fourth year's head and she was shaking hands with the Pecari fourth years' alone.

Anne's face was a little grim as she rejoined the group, but not as worried as he would have expected. She'd taken the news that they were playing Pecari well. Scarily well. "Okay," she said quickly, just loud enough for them all to hear. "Remember what you've got to do and do it the best you can. Nobody gets it every time." She didn't sound entirely convinced, and Geoffrey knew why. That bit had been for the Keeper's benefit and no one else's. "Beaters, Zack's your top priority." She might have meant to say more - the look on her face suggested it - but the shout came before she could open her mouth again.

Geoff paid attention to the other players just long enough to notice that the Seekers were almost level with each other in the air, the Keepers were at their posts, and that Pecari had possession of the Quaffle before he started looking for Bludgers. They weren't hard to miss - usually they weren't - but eleven others rocketing around the field made missing one easier than usual. Dill's scream drew his attention upward for a moment, but Tarwater was closer and already on it. Geoffrey joined Sorrel in running for the non-occupied Bludger.

The same Pecari still had the Quaffle. Anne was flying to his left, close enough to swoop in if she thought she stood a chance at laying hands on the Quaffle but not so close that she could be accused of any technical foul or be caught in the pathway of a Bludger set at the Pecari Chaser except by the worst sort of luck and chance. When the enemy shouted to call the attention of one of his fellows to himself before passing off the Quaffle, Geoffrey decided the risks were worth the potential gain and swang his bat, hitting the Bludger not towards the first Quaffle-holder, but towards the one he was trying to pass it to.

Now all he had to do was hope that the Pecari was smart enough to cut and run, that the Bludger didn't decide to go elsewhere, that Anne was quick enough to make use of the opening he'd tried to make for her, and that one of the Cravens didn't decide his head would make a fine third Bludger. \n\n

Caedence Redoak Pecari chaser

October 21, 2006 8:49 PM
Caedence had just finished adjusting her trademark beaters gloves, sharpeing her usuall braid and putting on an extra-thick sweater when she noticed her classmates had decided to head to the field. Dashing to the Cascade Hall, she snatched a piece of toast and munched on it on the way to the pitch. Just as she suspected. It was bitter clod outside.

Coupled with everything going on in her life, she had been dismayed to learn that both Stephen and Saul were on her team. Oh well, that's the price of playing quidditch. However, she had thought she paid her price when she had to resign to being a chaser. After all, what could be more fun than bashing a beater at the popposite team?

She noticed Stephen showing off a new broom to his friend. She sighed. The idiot would chose to decorate his broom. Looking at her own trusty Nimbus, she thought, 'Like my broom needs a snazzy paint job. All it needs is speed!' She smirked. The Coach had said the magic words, starting the game

She bounced after teh quaffle as fast as she could, but she wasn't used to flying in the frigid weather. She couldn't gain altitude as fast as she wanted, and so SAul reached the quaffle first. He called out to her, and and she turned around as quickly as possible to see what he wanted. Oh, the quaffle. She stretched out her hands and caught it. However, she had barely wrapped her hands around it when a bludger smashed right between her shoulderblades. Of course it would hit her bruise... She almost lost her grip on the ball, but managed to hold on. Then, ignoring the wind, she spedup heading for the goalposts. "Saul! GET OVER HERE!" she yelled preparing to pass the ball once she had gotten close enough. Her back was throbbing painfully and she doubted she would be able to throw it properly. As it was, she was sure she heard something crack. 'Have to check into the wing afterwards. Best just ride it out' she thought to herself. Seeing Saul nearby, she threw it with another yell of, "TAKE IT IN!"\n\n

Grail Markner, Aladren, Keeper

October 22, 2006 10:45 AM
That morning had been fairly uneventful for Grail. She had mearly woken up, taken a shower, eaten some food, and spent the rest of the morning getting ready for the game. She had to rummage around Nikki's space for the broom she was allowed to use. Nikki had said it was a very good racing broom, good for Quidditch. This was good. Even though Gray knew she had to get her own broom sometime over the summer, it was nice of Nikki to let Gray use hers.

However, the moments before the game, Grail felt as though the brown sugared oatmeal she'd eaten had turned into butterflies in her stomach. Gray had never technically played Quidditch before. She had practiced over the months, but that was alone or with the team. And the only other Keeping experience she had was playing in soccer when she was nine and when they played hockey in gym. And neither of those sports required you to sit on a flying broom elevated hundreds of feet in the air protecting three huge hoops from scoring a goal. Nor did they contain huge heavy metal balls along with the actual playing one that would try to kill you...
You can bet Libby was having the time of her life in Gray's head, whispering things that may happen to her in this game.

Libby was still talking when the Coach let the Quaffle release from her hand. Gray's hands were shaking (from the freezing cold as well as fear) as she took off, as Libby laughed at her. Gray tried to ignore her sister, and instead watched for the Quaffle, hoping it would come no where near her. She also tried to keep an eye out for the Bludger as well as for Paul, Geoff, and the Pecari Beaters (who she was sure were just as merciless as Libby would be, seeing as most Pecaris reminded her of her sister). Gray began to circle the hoops awaiting the Quffle to come her way. She started making deals with Libby, things like the amount of goals she saved Libby would leave her alone for that many minutes.

She would have to save a lot of goals.

And every one Gray didn't save, the minutes she did earn would start to go down. And if she got into the negatives, Libby was allowed the hardest teasings without even the thought of trying to block her. Now Grail was extremely determined not to miss anything. Libby was almost as bad as Chali, and when she wanted to be, was worse than her twin. Especially if Libby was allowed to be as hard as humanly possible, more actually, since her teasings could hardly be called human.

So circling the hoops, Grail awaited the Quaffle. Extremely determined not to miss a thing.\n\n

Lizzie Lavine, the last of the Pecari chasers

October 22, 2006 1:29 PM
The morning of the quidditch game had dawned frigid and unfeeling, Lizzie noticed as she exited the Pecari Commons out into the Gardens. Well, she thought to herself, wrapping a scarf around her neck, Best make the most of this day. After a quick breakfast, Liz was on the pitch, shivering along with her teammates. With the whistle's blow, however, the adrenaline began pumping through her veins, warming her already windwhipped face.

After a moment's surveilance of the quaffle's pathway to Saul, Liz took off down the pitch in order to set up an offencive play nearer to the Aladren goalposts. Only the sound of a sharp crack of bludger hitting body stopped her. Making a quick 180 degree turn, Liz darted back to where the other portion of the chasing team was getting thouroghly harassed by the Aladren's beater shots. Liz hovered for a moment, watching Caedence's last-chance pass to Saul as it made its way towards him. Fearing a dropped pass that would undoubtedly go to the Aladren Chasers, Liz cut quickly into the pass, securing it in the crook of her arm.

The time could be taken later to help the other obviously wounded chaser, but the game was now, and they needed the points attainable by a score on one of those illustrious golden rings. Liz looked over to Saul, nodding forward as if to convey to him to move on with the game. She'll be fine, Lizzie told herself as she continued down the field, The healer's here today, isn't he? With any luck, they could use the break in the air to get their team closer to the rings. \r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

October 23, 2006 9:43 PM
Caedence had gotten hit with the bludger. She handled it much better than he had the previous year. For one thing, she held onto the Quaffle. For another, she did not fall to her near-death. He wasn't sure which impressed him more. Then she was tossing the ball his way, but Lizzie was there first, snatching it from the air.

Caedence was not one of his favorites of the new kids (that honor going to both of the EEs) but he did count her as one of the kids he was supposed to look out for. With Lizzie having the ball, his first inclination was to make sure Caedence was okay, but Lizzie waved him toward the goal. Taking the older student's instruction, he gave one final worried look toward the firstie, then hurried toward the goal.

He wasn't sure if he was supposed to be setting up for an assist, or just distracting the keeper, so he tried to be ready for either. He flew in close to the left most hoop, trying to set up for an easy dunk if he got the ball, or at least just draw the Keeper away from the right most one to open it up for Lizzie.\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Sorrel Craven, Pecari Beater

October 24, 2006 7:57 AM
The density of players around the goal was pretty high. Sorrel was actually surprised that the Bludger made it through to target, although there were more Pecaris around than Aladrens, so probability-wise... The little scrum of players around the Quaffle certainly prevented her, given that she was considerably larger than the Bludger, from pursuing it. She could only hope her Chaser was smart enough and alert enough to move out of the way. Ouch. Clearly not. She handled it better than Saul. Sorrel would give her that.

As Caedence passed the Quaffle on, Sorrel wove through the crowd towards her. After the severe lack of medical attention offered last year, she'd brushed up on a few spells. Nothing major, healing was complicated, but stuff like heat charms, and other light forms of pain relief. She was all set to work one on Caedence's back, when she saw Saul pull into the goal area. They had a very good chance to get a goal up, and she could help their chances. If she removed the choice for the Keeper of which way to go, Saul was in the perfect position to score unhindered. She dove for the Bludger, still nearby from its attack on Caedence and smashed it towards the centre hoop.

"PASS!" she screamed at Lizzie. She was setting it up so the Aladrens would, with the right timing, have no choice, so it didn't matter if she made her plan obvious to them. It mattered more that her intentions were clear to her Chasers; Lizzie passed to Saul, and the Keeper had no path across to block that goal, because the Bludger would smash her off her broom if she did. Sorrel wheeled around, keeping an eye out for any Aladrens trying to get in and play the hero. She didn't have a Bludger to aim at them, but she had her body and her bat. If Cobbing was an excessive use of elbows, that meant there was a justifiable amount.\n\n

Lizzie Lavine, Pecari Chaser

October 24, 2006 11:07 AM
As the two of them made their way towards the goal, Lizzie noted Saul's positioning. He was a smart kid, getting to the other hoop. Liz was just about maybe 15 yards from the goal when from behind her she heard Sorrel's voice yell to pass. On reflex alone, Lizzie shouted "SAUL!" and launched the quaffle straight at him. Saul was positioned close up to the left goal, a perfect shot if Lizzie could preoccupy the keeper long enough. With any luck at all, they could do it.

Giving into an instance of guilt at leaving Caedence wounded on the other side of the pitch, Liz took a second-long look over her shoulder. Sorrel had gone over to the younger player, and it looked like she'd be okay. A bludger was a tough thing to take, especially being blindsided like she was. With a deep breath, Lizzie focused all her attention on distracting the keeper on her side of the goals. With Liz's second option open for a shot, any smart keeper would have to have paid attention to her hovering so closely to the goals. \n\n

Saul watched the older chaser make a run at the right hoop and figured he was just there for distraction value. He thought that right up until Sorrel let fly a bludger between him and keeper and shouted for Lizzie to pass. He got his hands up as Lizzie responded immediately, shouting out his name as she heaved the quaffle in his direction.

He didn't even need to catch it. He was close enough to the goal that he just needed to change its direction and give it a shove toward the hoop.

Using his left hand as a rudder to redirect the Quaffle's flight plan, and the heel of his right hand to speed it on its way, the ball flew unerringly toward the goal. Saul shouted in triumph, secretly grateful that he hadn't missed the Quaffle entirely and screwed up the shot.\n\n

Grail, Aladren Keeper

October 24, 2006 4:47 PM
After her nervous agreement with Libby, Grail was more than determined to not miss a goal. She wasn't going to miss too many, at least. Not every goal could be saved, Gray knew. But in her case, she had to get pretty close to at least win her bet with Libby. Or... the angry voice in her head that sounded like Libby. Whatever, both were the same to her. And thanks to this, she was especially on guard when she saw the Pecari chasers coming closer to her.

Gray disliked the Pecari. She'd already said it millions of time to herself. The ones she'd seen around acted far too much like Libby. Which was probably why it was Libby who she was making the bet with, who was bothering her. The Pecari team represented Libby. And everyone who really knew Gray, wheh really no one here really knew her (except Leo, and he didn't even know enough), they knew she'd do anything to beat her sisters at there own game.

She saw one of the older boys dangerously close to one of the hoops. She knew to guard that one. Since he was this close, he really wound't waste energy throwing to a far away hoop when one was so close. But Gray was still a fair distance away from the hoop she needed to protect. So she used all this racing broom had to get there.

Grail almost didn't make it. Almost. She found herself colliding with the broom which, using the speed she and the ball were going at and using momentum formula, really hurt her chest. It also made her fall off the broom, she was so tiny she was surprised she didn't. Moaning slightly, she used all her strength to toss the thing away to someone on her team.

Racing broom indeed. This thing was fast. Keeping count Libby? One for me. she muttered inside her head. Libby just scoffed angrily.

"You'll miss next time. That was just lucky, sweetie." Libby decided on saying. Well, they would see just who won.\n\n

Caedence Redoak

Caedence smirked. This was what she loved. Fast pace, and a quick change of events. Ignoring the throbbing in her back, she watched as Lizzy took the ball. Then the beater, Sorrel wasn't it?, came up behind her and performed a charm.

Thinking it wise, in case Elly was watching, for her friend surely wouldn't aprove of her starting another fight, she didn't snap at Sorrel that she was fine. Swallowing her temper for just this once, she said quickly, "Thanks, that helped!" before speeding off. It did help her, a bit. Nothing that now would need more than a few days of walking it off. Never would she admit it, but that bludger did hurt, a lot!

She came to a halt mid-air near her teamates. Barely ducking in time ot avoid another bludger, she noticed that Lizzy had thrown the ball to Saul and he had smacked it at the goal. Caedence smirked, now that was a cruel plan. Hit a bludger so that if you defended your post, you'd get hurt. She nodded her aproval and made a sharp descent. When she was as close to the goals as the rules allowed, she hung around them, circling like a hawk, ready in case it either missed its mark, didn't make it, or if the keeper was dull enough to try and catch it and oddly enough managed to without hearing the crunch of broken bones.\n\n

Caedence noticed the ball was flying...away. Just great, Caedence thought, she got it! Well, she was determined to show up her team. Not that they did anything to her, just because, well, she didn't really know. Flattening herself against the handle of the broom, she sped up quickly.

Too quickly. She ran right into the ball. Braking fast, she tried to catch the ball, but it slipped past her fingers. Well, she couldnt have that ball getting away. She caught it with the tips of her toes, and using all her muggle soccer skills, kicked it at Saul. Unfortunately, she forgot that in soccer you NEVER kick with your toes. Oops. Watching the ball intently, narrowing her eyes to focus on it better, she realised it was going to Sauls left. "ON THE LEFT OF SAUL! GET IT!" she hollered\n\n

Anne Wright, Aladren Chaser

October 25, 2006 4:51 PM
We still have Zack, Anne told herself as Lavine stole the Quaffle from under her nose. We have him. He's the best Seeker in the school. If anyone can beat that girl they've got in, it's Zack. It was just luck when she beat Zucchero. Luck, and Zucchero trying to play mommy instead of looking for the Snitch. The thought didn't seem as reassuring as it would have before Anne started feeling desperate. They were slipping - holding on still, for the moment, but slipping. She didn't know why it seemed that way, but it did. They were going to lose this one if something didn't turn around fast.

Her eyes narrowing at the thought, Anne swore furiously and flew after the older girl. Desperation wasn't that hard to turn into anger, and while anger gave little help, it was still better than the other. She didn't look to see or care if Ben and Zoey tried to get in to create a pincer, which was how she found herself cursing again as the calm corner of her brain realized that of the tangle at the goals, the only blue in sight was her own robes, Grail's, and, above them, Geoff.

"Do something!" she screamed at him, not caring if it was insubtle or if it was looked at askance. "I don't care who you hurt, you idiot, get one of the Bludgers and do something!" She tried to think of something to yell to Grail, but she couldn't figure out a way to phrase it without scaring the Keeper out of her wits or distracting her even worse. Anne couldn't even tell all of what was going on, and didn't really want to. There was almost no way this was going to turn out well. All she could do was try to plan the next move.

Sorrel Craven was the problem. If anyone in blue went anywhere near the Quaffle, that someone might well find his or herself pulverized, with or without a Bludger. Attacking her, however, would do nothing but bring her and her brother down on Anne's head and cause trouble with Fox. She didn't want to give Pecari any more goals than she absolutely had to. Playing the sacrificial lamb could work, if Ben or Zoey would just get over here to get the Quaffle while she was murdered, but if they didn't -

Anne bit her tongue hard when Gray somehow made the save. She didn't know how, but the first year did it. Had done it. Gray'd saved them, if they could just get the ball away from the firstie playing for Pecari. When the girl kicked the Quaffle - Anne wasn't entirely sure that was legal, but whatever - and shouted its location, Anne decided to do exactly what the first year had said and get it.

"Thanks, kid!" she yelled, then hunched over the Quaffle to protect it from theft attempts and flew for the other end of the Pitch just as Geoff obeyed his orders and sent a Bludger straight into the middle of the Pecari Chasers. \n\n

Geoffrey Layne, Aladren Beater

October 25, 2006 5:29 PM
Geoffrey took the moment that the Chasers tussled over the Quaffle to chase and hit the Bludger towards the girl he dimly recognized as the Pecari Seeker before the action moved closer to the goals and he left the Seekers to Tarwater's care. Tarwater's opinion of them all might not have been high, but Geoff had spent enough time barking at him about the three priorities that he should have had enough sense to know that letting his Seeker die, even if it was done to prevent injury to himself, was a bad move. A few broken bones would be a small price to pay if they won.

The only thing he could think to do at the goals was to attack Craven, and that didn't seem like a good idea. It might work, but it would definitely result in some less-than-pleasant-or-beneficial consequences. Anne's furious scream up at him, however, took the problem out of his hands. When the captain screamed at you to do something, especially with the near-murderous look on her face she had now, you did it. He hoped the people he hurt wouldn't include her, but Anne was, just barely, an acceptable casualty of war, and she had just said he could hurt anyone on the field, though he suspected that he was supposed to understand that Dill was an exception. Leaving Anne and Markner to their own devices, Geoff went Bludger-hunting.

Luck, he thought as the Bludger flew towards the Pecari Chasers as Anne headed away from them with the Quaffle. Luck, and some divine factor's love of dramatic effect. That was good. He'd have to tell Anne to write that one down in the diary he wasn't supposed to know she had. At the moment, though, it seemed like a good idea to leave the area before a Craven attempted retaliation with the now-loosened Bludger. Heading upward, he drew up sharply in front of Paul.

"New strategy," he snapped. "These Pecaris are annoying Anne, Tarwater. We're gonna make them stop annoying her, clear? We control the Bludgers, we control the game. The minute you hit it towards one of them, start chasing it to hit it again, and no, Anne doesn't care if we get worn out. Let's go for it." Not waiting to see if Paul followed orders or not, he headed back towards the action, searching for a Bludger to use to suit his own words. Raising his voice abruptly, he bellowed, "Aladren Chasers to Anne! Back her up!"

It might have worked - there was always a chance that Welsh and Stafford had heard him and decided to obey - but the main point was to distract the Pecaris by making them think they were about to have their own tactic turned back on them. If that worked, they might get the shot and he might get a promotion the easy way. \n\n

Paul found his way over to Layne... without really wanting to. He looked over the older boy's shoulder to see where his Bludger was. Aw, crap. He lost it. He gave Layne a mini-glare, angry he'd lost the Bludger that he could have used to hit at the Pecaris. Especially the ones who'd tried to take out Markner as she was going for the Quaffle. Or the Pecari Seeker, without her they wouldn't be able to win. Or that one those two Pecari Chaser girls, they were extremely annoying. Or the boy, he seemed cocky enough.

He saw his father's proud glean as he hit the Seeker down, winning the game for Aladren. He so wanted that. Even if his father wasn't here, he still wished he could do it, so to tell his father later. But of course Layne had gotten in the way. His angry cursings at the boy were at the tip of his toungue, as well as the urge to zoom away and find another Bludger. So to hit someone as hard as humanly possible. Especially the Seeker at this moment. That would be a beneficial thing for the Aladren team. No Seeker, no chance at winning after all. Paul opened his mouth to say the profanities, then heard the little sniplet of what Layne was saying.

"...you hit it towards one of them..."

Sure he didn't hear what else Layne was saying. Nor did he really care all that much. He just knew Layne was basically telling him to hit people, and keep going at them. Being a large annoying horseflies sounded fun, of course slamming big metal balls at people caused more pain then a horsefly bite. As Layne flew away, Paul felt the happy squeak at the back of his voice. "We get to hit people now?" The large, creepy grin Paul never usually wore came out, and Paul found himself flying after Layne. Get worn out. Please. That wouldn't happen while doing something he enjoyed immensly.

He was flying faster than ever, thanks to the thought of how happy he would be after finally hitting someone. Paul flipped the bat easily in his hand as he neared where the Captian was, along with the other Chasers from Pecari. Mentally, he called dibs on the older girl acting as though she was so special. Now to find that Bludger...\n\n

Hey Grail,

Although your post was very nicely written, it is very apparent that you didn't fully read the previous posts. Due to this, your current post doesn't fit in with the action that has been going on. If your character was as far away from the hoop as you are stating she is, she would have been hit with the bludger. You have to take into account timing.

Also, Saul was very close to the hoop. As it was previously stated by another player that it would have been impossible for your character to get to the hoop in time, your character would have had to been hit by the bludger in order to save the Quaffle from entering the goal, and it would have been very difficult to get there in time due to the setup of the play.

I'm sorry to have to do this. I can only say that you should probably spend a few extra moments in order to read the entire post, especially during a Quidditch match which is full of action and constantly moving.

I need you to try and rework this post (post it again) with edits that include the bludger. Otherwise, I'm going to have to say that the Quaffle went through the hoop and Pecari made a goal.

Thanks and once again I'm sorry that I have to do this.

OOC: Okay, I'll re-do it. Just to say though, it isn't impossible to block the goal. I hope this sounds a bit better...

BIC: After her nervous agreement with Libby, Grail was more than determined to not miss a goal. She wasn't going to miss too many, at least. Not every goal could be saved, Gray knew. But in her case, she had to get pretty close to at least win her bet with Libby. Or... the angry voice in her head that sounded like Libby. Whatever, both were the same to her.

He was going to throw the Quaffle in. Oh, Libby could not win this bet at all. She wouldn't let her sister. Speeding quickly towards the boy near her goal, she only just realized the Bludger coming near her. Crap. She had to get around the thing somehow. And it was coming for her. Oh god, she really hated this...

The boy was about a yard away from the hoops ready to toss the Quaffle in. Libby was laughing inside her and the Bludger was waiting to kill her. This game was just a bundle of joy, wasn't it? And now, the Bludger was chasing her. Gray was really starting to hate the Pecaris about now. It was almost as if they wanted her to be tormented for months.

Speeding towards the Quaffle was hard, especially with the Bludger on her tail. And of course, when a sharp pain in her shoulder hit, she realized the bludger had hit. And the pain in her chest? Well, that was from the Quaffle she'd just saved. And of course, the Bludger was coming back for more. This time it got her in the side, nearly making her fall. She hung on though as the broom went down and the Quaffle went up. With her free, not pained and unmovable left hand she reached and pulled it down. Now her side was really hurting and she couldn't move her right arm. Weakly, she moved up to about eye level of the Pecari Chaser. With her left hand she weakly moved the Quaffle into the crowd, hoping for an Aladren to get it.

Wow, Libs, she told her sister, they're just like you. Didn't you break my arm once too?

"Oh yeah, in soccer," Libby laughed. "Trust me, that goal you blocked, and this one here, were just dumb luck. You'll miss the rest, just like you did."

Sighing Grail realized she was glaring . She really wanted to scream profanity about her numbing, possibly broken arm, but held off on this.\n\n

Saul Pierce, Pecari Chaser

The ball didn't go in. The shout of triumph died halfway through and turned into a word his mother would disapprove of him saying. The quaffle was knocked away, and it looked like Caedence would get it, so he turned his attention to watching the Keeper keep from falling to her death. What was it with the new crop of first years doing such a better job than him at staying on their brooms when taking a direct hit?

Then Caedence was shouting his name and something about the left? He looked stage left (his first instinct when telling right from left), finding nothing but the goal hoop then realizing that it was his other left he was supposed to be looking.

The Aladren Captain was catching the Quaffle. Caedence must have tried to pass for the rebound and he hadn't been paying attention. The Cravens were going to skin him alive for that after the match. Best try to make up for it.

He darted his broom forward, chasing after the other team's captain. Bending low, he tried to reduce his air resistance to pick up a little more speed.

The distance was narrowing, but not fast enough, and he wasn't sure how long the school broom could hold up the pace. This wasn't going to work. New plan.

"Watch out, Anne! Bludger behind you!" he shouted. A lie, sure, but he didn't think there were any rules against it, and making her veer would let him catch up a little more.\n\n

As yet, he hadn't seen any sign of the snitch above him, and he was spotting more and more breaks in the cloud cover. He took this as the snitch's way of telling him to stop looking up. How exactly the snitch would manipulate the clouds, he wasn't quite sure off, but they were an advanced space-faring alien species and he was sure they had their ways.

So he focused below him, ignoring the mess of people near his own team's goal, and searching the air for a flash of gold. Come out, come out, where ever you are, he called out with his mind, knowing the little guys were telepathic. (After all, how else would they have mind controlled nearly the entire wizarding population into becoming Quidditch obsessed?)

He thought he saw one off toward the corner of the pitch, very near the ground, so he dived down at it, taking his life into his hands by breaking into Warp Two (the fastest he dared go when working with gravity). He was about halfway there when he realized it was just a leaf. He slowed to a hover and looked around to see where Ginger was at and if he'd managed to 'trick' her into going after the leaf, too.\n\n

Zoey Welsh, Aladren Chaser

October 25, 2006 11:19 PM
Zoey had no idea what was going on. It didn't seem like all that long ago she had been dressing in warm clothes for the game. Long insulated pants, undershirt beneath her uniform, leather gloves, head band to cover her ears...the works. And now she was flying amongst absolute chaos. She had no idea what was going on. None at all.

She flew between Pecari chasers and around the beaters. She flew below the players and above the players. She tried to follow what had been happening on the Aladren end of the pitch, but the only thing she could decipher was that Grail or Gray or whatever her name was, had made a save. It was shortly after that that Zoey heard Geoff yell out and order her around. Zoey's face went sour. She knew Anne put him as Co-Captain or whatever, but Zoey still didn't have to like it. The kid had no decent social skills and Anne could have asked what everyone else thought about it. And now he was ordering them around?

Zoey hunched lower against her broom, both to pick up speed as well as to keep in some warmth. Anne had the Quaffle, so Zoey didn't have to worry about stealing it. Instead, she did the only thing she thought was necessary in order to have Aladren keep posssession of the quaffle. She blocked. Zoey forced herself in the path of other Pecari chasers, she wanted to keep them at bay and away from Anne. Without second thought or even looking back, Zoey manuevored herself infront of as many yellow colored players as she could.\n\n

Ash Craven, Pecari Beater

October 26, 2006 12:39 PM
The Beaters on the other side were honestly thick if they thought they could get away with that. 'Hey, our Seeker's just been hit at, so let's hit back at the other Seeker, cos clearly no one's nearby to defend her.' Ok, the hit came from the Beater who hadn't rushed to defend Zack, so was from behind Ash, but the thump was unmistakable, and he easily soared close alongside Ginger, tapping the Bludger just away, before trying to decide what to do with it next. It was tempting to pelt it towards the easy target of the back of Layne's head, as he held his little Beater conference, but even if it hit, he was playing a Bludger into two the hands of two people with bats and a vendetta against his team. Not smart.

Below was carnage, in which Sorrel had somehow managed to get herself thoroughly caught up, but a few Aladrens were seeping out of the mess and heading towards the Pecari goal, which could only mean they had one thing. The two opposing Beaters dropped into the fray, which meant Ash had a clear horizontal path, at this height. Pulling back as far as he could, he brought his bat round sharply, stopping it firmly as it hit the Bludger, the same way someone weilding a Katana stopped it at the point of impact so it didn't get lodged in, say, the target's head, rather than following through to try and avoid putting too much curve and spin on the ball which he himself was intending to chase. He pressed himself to the broom, going after it and intending to hit along one more time before he worked it down to interfere with the Chasers, but then he notice Zack begin to dive. Twisting, so he was positioned with his upper body above the Bludger, he smacked it forcefully downwards.

When Zack pulled up short, not even close enough to the pitch for it to be a Wronski Feint, Ash swore loudly. Had Zack's intention been to lure his Bludger away from him, rather than Ginger away from her quarry? S***ing Hell, that was clever. He'd never have thought a Seeker was screwing with his mind. Incensed, mainly because he felt stupid at falling for the trick, he shot towards his now vulnerable Bludger, hoping he could get at it before one of the opposing Beaters. Or that it would at least go for Zack, as he was the nearest thing. \n\n

Caedence noticed the ball was flying...away. Just great, Caedence thought, she got it! Well, she was determined to show up her team. Not that they did anything to her, just because, well, she didn't really know. She took a quick look at the keeper. Looks like a broken arm, caedence thought. Oh well. Flattening herself against the handle of the broom, she sped up quickly.

Too quickly. She ran right into the ball. Braking fast, she tried to catch the ball, but it slipped past her fingers. Well, she couldnt have that ball getting away. She caught it with the tips of her toes, and using all her muggle soccer skills, kicked it at Lizzie. Unfortunately, she forgot that in soccer you NEVER kick with your toes. Oops. Watching the ball intently, narrowing her eyes to focus on it better, she realised it was going to Sauls left. "ON THE LEFT OF LIZZIE! GET IT!" she hollered \n\n

It was fortunate that he'd stopped to look for Ginger, otherwise he might not have noticed the angry alien barbarian (otherwise known as a bludger) until it was too late. "Eep!" he squeaked out when he caught sight of it. This one wasn't coming as fast or as directly at him as the first time that game, but it was way too close for comfort and Zack could almost tell the exact moment it caught Zack's scent.

He dropped Enterprise's nose and didn't care about his normal worries about doing Warp Three in a downward direction. He just wanted to get away from the bludgers as fast as possible and if gravity was going to help, he wasn't going to complain about such things as fear of the ground.

He dove, hopefully escaping the barbarian's area of influence fast enough that it wouldn't pursue. With the ground coming up that fast though, he didn't dare turn around to see if he was right. Instinctively, he held out a hand in front of him, not that he expected that would do anything but break his arm if he didn't pull up in time, but it was a nice fallacy to believe it would prevent a concussion.

He pulled up, Enterprise taking the turn smoothly, and he came out parallel to the Earth at an altitude of approximately seven feet high. He dropped his hand back down to the broom shaft and looked up and behind him to see if he'd lost the bludger and/or gained Ginger's attention by that second dive.\n\n

Caedence sped after Anne. Just great, the idiot wasn't even paying attention and it lost them posession of the ball! Growling lowly under her breath she vowed to give him a firm telling-off after the game. For now, the quaffle was her main goal.

She was being blocked time and time by the aladren chaser. Well, she could solve that. She charged straight forward, not caring if she had run into him or not. With a smirk she decided to call it an "accedent" Then she shouted, "SORREL! GET A BLUDGER! ATTACK ANNE!"\n\n

Caedence,

Although we are extremely pleased with your enthusiasm, I must as, tht you take a few extra moments when writing your posts in order to better polish your spelling and grammar. Note that 'accedent' should be spelled 'accident' and 'Aladren' needs to be capitalized. Once again, I'm more than pleased with your enthusiasm and have loved reading your posts from the game, just be sure you take a few extra moments to check on the spelling and grammar.

Thanks,

Amy Fox\n\n

This game was deffinatly more miserable than the first one. It would have been fine if Fox didn't have to torture the, and make them play in freezing weather! She deffinatly wore a bit too little on this occasion. She should have worn a hevier coat, and she should have went to a teacher to place a light charm on the coat so it wouldn't weigh her down so much. She knew she was going to get a cold or something worse from this weather.

She was glad that she was foruntate enough to have the twins on the team, considering that they tackled the bludger as soon as it was hit toward her. She only saw the bludger go toward her once. She didn't know that she had the bludger hit toward her twice. She was on the other side of the feild a ways from Zack. She could still see him though, just to keep an eye on him. She knew that she would probably need to be closer to get a run onto the snitch if Zack saw it first. She moved a little more toward him to be at a safer distance.

Not long after she got closer to him, she saw him dive. She broke into a speed, and before she could get to him, in her peripherial vision she saw the glint of gold (or at least she hoped that she did). Zack was extremely smart, deffinatly smart enough to fake someone out.

Ginger immediately turned to the side where she saw the glint of gold, and sped off toward that way. She saw it, yes it was deffinatly the snitch. She caught up to it after about two minutes. The snitch went up, and so did she. As soon as it she went up, it went down. She dove down to the point where she was about six feet up from the ground, and caught it. She held the snitch up above her head with a smile on her face.

She lifted her goggles off of her face, and back onto the top of her head. She was going to give a hug to Zack after this game, and she hoped that he didn't take it too seriously. They were really good friends, so she didn't see him doing that.

Looking around, he didn't see any bludgers following him now, but he did see Ginger. She was holding the snitch over her head and grinning madly and pulling off her goggles.

He'd lost. He'd let down Anne and Alderaan and Princess Leia.

His shoulders slumped, and his eyes darted over to where the golden leaf had been. As he'd suspected. It wasn't there. The snitch hadn't wanted him to win so it had created a hallucination in his mind to distract him while Ginger chased after the real snitch, then ordered the bludger after him when he saw through the ruse.

Obviously, he'd been counting too much on having the Snitch wanting him to win. This was now an obvious misapprehension. Next time, the alien would find him much harder to fool, presuming of course, that Anne let him stay on the team.

He flew over towards Ginger to congradulate her because, well, as much as he didn't like losing, she was still his friend, and she looked impossibly happy so it would just be rude to snub her. Besides, his gnome kind of needed her character in the campaign right now and it wouldn't be wise to get on her bad side.

"Good job, Ginger!" he called over to her, trying not to sound too depressed that her win meant that he lost. That he failed at the only job he had in this game. He didn't know how successful he was. Probably not very.\n\n
