Countdown by Laurie Cider

Six hours and forty minutes until premier of The Watchmen. Yes, I took off tomorrow so I could see the midnight premier tonight at the local IMAX. Yes, I am completely proud of this fact.

And yes, I am counting down every passing second.

Six hours and thirty-nine minutes now.

The Watchmen. . . by Laurie

. . .blew my mind.

Holy peanuts, Batman but it was awesome. The creep who sat beside me wasn't nearly as awesome, but you gotta weigh the good with the bad, and the creep loses in this battle.

Go. Now.

Watch it.

Seriously.

Who watches the Watchmen? :P by Irene

Heheh. A friend of mine is very very into Watchmen and anything of the like. I told him I would ask you this: Did you read the graphic novel? And also, do you know Trigun?

That is all :)

I want to see it very badly! HOWEVER. I am not above the legal age to get into rated R movies :(((( Bummerrr... And yes, they do check IDs. So sad.

Other Watchmen apparently. by Laurie

Course I read the graphic novel! Are you kidding? I first read it when I was twelve, and most recently, I read it again last year. Watchmen made me really respect the medium, and while the film took some liberties, I think the Snyder- the director- did a really fabulous job keeping to the story.

I know of Trigun. I never watched the series, mostly because I tend to loathe English dubs.

Ugh by Santoros

Okay, now I love all movies made as adaptations of graphic novels (usually) because I'm a geek and all that jazz. Had I known this movie was going to be 3 hours long, I would have picked a better time to go since I worked this morning.

My experience was also plagued by a stomach bug and having to sit around 17/18 year old boys who couldn't get passed the fact that Mr. Manhattan didn't wear clothes while in his own personal quarters or whatever.

But, I met David Hayter over the summer and since I loved X-Men 1 and 2 (which he also wrote the screenplays for), I thought....why not? Maybe, under different circumstances, I would have absolutely loved the movie. As it stands, it's been tainted.

Ouch. by Laurie

Ah geez- definitely not the best of circumstances to watch it, especially considering the rather serious, dark nature of the film.

I can't empathize on the illness side, but I too had a creeper next to me. At one point in the film he actually took popcorn from my tub. Mind you, I did not know this person beyond the three seconds in which I checked my mobile for the time at his enquiry.

I'm going to give myself another week to ruminate over it to decide how I feel entirely. It's just one of those stories that sits with you well afterward.
